User questions & answers
Question: | What type of filter does this use |
Answer: | You *can* get these apart to clean, but be very careful. The most obvious way is to lift the top of the handle to "unhook" it. That's not the easiest way, but if you have the strength it's the safest. I find it easier to remove the base by turning upside down. Looking at the bottom you want to push the beaker with your thumbs while holding the plastic base with your finger tips. The plastic will be more flexible if you soak it in hot soapy water. The dish soap in the hot water will help it slide out. It may pop out suddenly and is very breakable. I always re-assemble base 1st, then snap the handle over the edge of the beaker. (I've had a few of these. Some fit quite tightly others are fairly easy to remove.) |
Question: | Should it come with the plastic lid shown in step 4? Mine did not |
Answer: | Hi! On the description is written 34 ounces (8 cup). Regards, House 2 Home |
Question: | Is it dishwasher safe |
Answer: | Plastic lid, handle, and base not metal. Press is metal however. They work the same, just a matter of looks. |
Question: | Do you remove the filter before pouring your coffee |
Answer: | The Pitcher is made of Borosilicate Glass. The Brazil 12 Cup (1.5 Liter ) [51fl.oz] is made in Portugal. |

No other coffee maker has fascinated passionate coffee drinkers like the Pebo (former Santos). Its exceptionally effective vacuum brewing method extracts all precious oils of your favorite coffee. The vacuum brewing process is entirely sealed off so no aroma can escape. In addition, the brewing time and temperature are perfectly calibrated, ensuring a perfect cup of coffee with each brew. Monitor the eye-catching brewing process through the two firmly attached glass bowls! Depending on the amount of water used, the Pebo (former Santos) can brew delicious coffee within 5 to 11 minutes, serving anywhere from 4 to 8 cups (0. 5l/10 ounces, max. 1. 0l/34 ounces).
As beautiful as sculpture, as fascinating as chemistry, and as entertaining as theater, this coffeemaker from Switzerland converts the ordinary process of brewing coffee into an artful performance. And it makes six 5-ounce cups of full-flavored coffee while it entrances. The coffeemaker fits together like this: water goes into the carafe, a filter fits into the mouth of a tube in the top globe, ground coffee goes into the globe (a scoop is included), the globe fits atop the carafe with the tube extending into the carafe, and the carafe goes onto the stovetop with a trivet or heat diffuser between it and electric or gas heat. (This is all much simpler and quicker than it sounds.)
Water boils up through the tube into the globe and brews the coffee. When brewing is complete and the carafe has been taken off the stovetop and set into its accompanying sculpted trivet, the coffee drains through the filter into the carafe. The globe can then be lifted off the carafe and set on its stand, and coffee can be poured from the carafe, which has a stay-cool handle. A stopper for the carafe keeps second cups warm while the first cups are sipped. Fully assembled, the coffee maker stands 11-1/2 inches high. It's made of heat-resistant glass and durable, gleaming nylon, and all parts are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

User questions & answers
Question: | Since there is no cover for the upper chamber, does this cause splashing of coffee out of the pot as it bubbles up |
Answer: | Yes, the replacement glass is made and labeled by Bodum. Way cheaper than a whole new press. This is probably the 4th replacement I have purchased for my French press purchased about 15 years ago. |
Question: | Why aren't replacment parts available |
Answer: | Hello and thanks for asking ... as my answer will save you a lot of grief and dollars. Even Bodum coffee presses are different sizes. I ordered this Beeker and it was too wide at the bottom to fit. The company, when contacted, told me that I had to pay the postage back PLUS a 25% restocking fee. It wasn't worth the effort or cost. I would never purchase from this company again. I hope that my answer has helped you. perhaps if you contacted the company that made your press ... they could supply you with the correct replacement . :) |
Question: | what exactly is the difference between the SANTOS and PEBO |
Answer: | Per tape measure: height 7 in. diameter 4 1/2 inches. I hope that helps. |
Question: | Is there a plastic filter in this product |
Answer: | Yeah I won't buy this carafe for more than the whole press assembly will cost me. I was looking for a metal nut to replace the plastic one that comes with the Bodum Brazil 51oz that stripped on mine. Turns out the larger cold brew press comes with a metal one which I was able to switch out with the plastic from the Brazil. Apparently the plastic isn't dishwasher safe. But for 20 bucks just get a new press. Crazy |

Product description
The French press Coffee system is what Bodum is most known for. We've produced millions of presses; we've added more designs, more sizes, more features like double wall glass and a lid that closes completely between pours. As far as we were concerned, we knew everything there was to know about the French press. So imagine our surprise when a customer tells us they've discovered the best way to make ice Coffee with a French press. We've tried it their way and we have to agree - it's fabulous. And simple - which fits our philosophy perfectly. So here's how it goes: first you put the ground Coffee in the jug as usual. Then you add cold water and put the jug in the fridge overnight. In the morning you press down the plunger - et voila - you have the most smooth tasting ice Coffee you can imagine. Enjoy it Black or with milk and let yourself be surprised. The bean comes with two lids: one for the fridge overnight and one with a plunger to press down the Coffee grounds in the morning. The 1. 5 L bean ice Coffee maker is made from plastic, silicone and stainless steel.
- Innovative locking lid system keeps your Coffee hot or cold and helps prevent spills
- Includes two lids; one for the fridge overnight, and one with plunger

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone been able to purchase the flat lid as a replacement? I melted mine |
Answer: | I was wondering too! The one I am replacing was bought from Amazon Jan. 2015. It stated Poland on the Glass, but nothing on the plastic. Now they all seem to state Portugal on the glass portion. I like the BODUM embossed plastic frame, but it is an older model with the flat top and D handle. Even Bodum does updates. |
Question: | How long does the coffee last in the fridge after making |
Answer: | Beaker is glass. The handle and the part that the beaker fits into is plastic. |
Question: | What's the advantage of this plastic press over the Bodum 51-ounce "Brazil" glass French press, which costs less and can do both hot and cold brew |
Answer: | I had the other Brazil version. I was able to remove the beaker. VERY CAREFUL, it is in there tight. SOAP and warm water, you should get some movement from it. I wouldn't recommend removing the beaker unless you really have to clean it. If you don't feel comfortable removing the beaker, then I wouldn't. |
Question: | How much coffee to I add to make a full pot of cold brew coffee |
Answer: | It is sad, isn't it, that some misguided bean counter at Bodun decided to earn a bonus by replacing a sturdy, metal piece (like my 30 year old Bodun has) with that ridiculous piece of plastic; saving, what? Two cents worth? Well, that was mine. I will take another commenter's advice and be gentle. It is informative that the elaborate pictures in the description do not show this particular piece; apparently they know. |

A fast, easy, and space-saving way to brew black or flavored coffees or any variety of teas, this 8-cup (1 liter; 32 ounces) thermal press pot brings versatility and calm to the daily routine. The handsome stainless-steel unit sports a polished finish, as well as a unique double-walled design that keeps its contents hot for up to two hours--no more preparing hot drinks in a coffeemaker or teapot and then transferring them to a thermos to keep warm. Even more, its stainless-steel plunger features a fine mesh filter assembly that eliminates the mess and waste of disposable filters and helps to retain coffee's subtle flavors, resulting in a delicious alternative to the diluted taste that occurs when brewed through a paper filter. Additional highlights include an oversized ergonomic handle for a steady grip while dispensing or transporting, a handled safety lid that twists closed to prevent liquids from splashing or heat from escaping through the spout between pours, and an included measuring spoon and instruction manual. The thermal press pot cleans up quickly in the dishwasher and measures approximately 5-2/7 by 6-8/9 by 8-1/2 inches.
Ideal for home or office, this French press coffeemaker doubles as an insulated thermos so coffee stays hot and fresh for up to two hours. The pot holds 34 ounces (1 liter), nearly seven 5-ounce cups, and can be used for brewing tea as well as coffee. Question: | Is there any plastic inside the pot |
Answer: | It doesn’t say. JUST to be safe I hand wash mine. |
Question: | does it come with the monkey? I think I might need the monkey |

Do you have 4 minutes?
The French press coffee maker is the simplest of all brewing systems, where coarsely ground beans meet hot water right off the boil. The right temperature (92–96 °C, 195–205 °F) brings the optimal extraction power for the essential oils in the beans to develop their full flavor profile in just four minutes. An easy press on the plunger locks the grinds at the bottom of the glass carafe and stops the brewing process.
Java French Press Collection
The Java coffee maker incorporates the Bodum's motto beautifully: good design doesn't have to be expensive. Just hot water and ground coffee is all that's needed. And that's all that coffee lovers are left with too, no waste, just taste.
Step 1
For each 4-ounce cup, put 1 rounded tablespoon or 1 Bodum scoop of coarse-ground coffee into the pot.
Step 2
Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot. Leave a minimum of 1 inch of space at the top. Stir with a plastic spoon.
Step 3
Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for 4 minutes.
Step 4
After 4 minutes press down the plunger and enjoy.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have writing on the glass? Is it actually a Bodum original glass |
Answer: | The person that asked this question probably already got a lid replacement however, anyone else that has found themselves in the same situation, I was going to suggest that if you need a lid just go to Walmart and buy a whole new one for less than 10 bucks before tax -they also sell it on their online store for 3 dollars more. |
Question: | Will the 12oz glass replacement fit a Melior French |
Answer: | Mine doesn’t last long because I drink up too fast, but as long as you keep it refrigerated I’d say it’ll last a couple weeks or longer!! I have two pots so when one is finished I’m making another!! Add your favorite liquid creamer and you’ll never buy those high dollar over sweet cold coffees again!! |
Question: | What is the inside diameter (ID) measurement of the holder? Measurements for the beaker itself are moot, when you cannot measure a shattered beaker |
Answer: | No advantage, can use both for hot or cold press. I purchased this one because at the time the tan colored one was sale priced at $13 |
Question: | Can someone tell me why buying only a replacement beaker and screen costs just as much as buying a brand new coffee press? Where's the logic in that |
Answer: | Most people find you need to add more coffee grounds to cold brew than if making hot coffee. I usually use somewhere around 40oz of water and 1 cup of ground coffee to make it the proper strength. If you use the classic 1 table spoon per cup you will end up with a very weak product that is closer to tea than coffee. |

Product description
Designed in honor of the great Irish designer Eileen Gray, as well as all Coffee lovers who frequent the bistros and cafes of paris—gray’s adopted City. Bode classic Eileen French press makes a stylish addition to any tabletop decor. Perfect for gifting and entertaining.
The Eileen coffee press is a tribute to designer Eileen Gray and is built to withstand the rigors and crowds of a cafe in Paris--the city that Gray loved most. Bodum instills quality craftsmanship in this press and the result, according to coffee purists, is a brewing machine that produces a superior taste and aroma to any electric coffeemaker. The secret is that the grounds are able to steep in boiling water for about four minutes before they are pressed with the plunger, producing a richer, full-bodied flavor.
The heat-resistant glass carafe on this Eileen model holds a maximum of 32 ounces or 8 cups of brewed coffee or tea, making it a useful size for all-day-long drinkers. The stainless-steel frame encases the carafe and protects it from breakage while still allowing coffee drinkers to see their rich coffee through the slotted design. The santoprene-coated square-shaped handle provides a firm grip on the press while pouring and the stainless-steel lid and plunger are durable and will hold up to years of brewing. For easy cleaning, the carafe and all its parts go right into the dishwasher. Replacement parts are available from the manufacturer. --Cristina Vaamonde

User questions & answers
Question: | Do you heat the water in coffeemaker? Does this go on the stove top |
Answer: | Yes! This Bodum Java Coffee maker is 100% BPA Free |
Question: | Is the glass secure in the decorative metal or does it fall out easily |
Answer: | Not that I know of, but most plastic when exposed to cold temps can get brittle. Have you been using it for cold brew in the fridge? Other than that, perhaps just a flaw in this particular one, sometimes that does happen. |
Question: | is there any plastic inside? thanks |
Answer: | The one you’re looking at is just a press. The mugs can be purchased from Bodum; which is probably why there is an image of it. Also, I would not buy the plastic bodum carafe holder - go with the metal. The plastic breaks easily. |
Question: | ive seen in some reviews that the metal part actually rusts? also, where is this product made in? thanks a lot |
Answer: | Chrome or plastic? Upload a photo, send to Bodum. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how many scoops of coffee are you supposed to use with the scooper that is included (7g |
Answer: | Yes! Please search "B0000CF2WM" in the amazon search bar for the proper replacement part for this item. Thanks! |
Question: | Is the piece that holds the filter plastic |
Answer: | Please search "B0000CF2WM" in the amazon search bar for the correct replacement beaker for this French Press. |
Question: | Can you pour the coffee with the lid on it |
Answer: | I doubt it because of the screen . The grounds will be making their way through the wire screen. Are you putting in the coffee grounds before the plunger/filter? You put the coffee grounds in the empty beaker first, then the water. Allow the grounds to steep 4 minutes or so then plunge/filter down on top of the coffee grounds. Not many grounds should make it through. Especially course grounds. |
Question: | I like the metal filter, but is there a paper filter specifically designed for this? I really do not like the soot the filter leaves |
Answer: | Yes we have washed it many times in the dishwasher with good success. |
