Answer:	It's a percolator, it's made for ground coffee

Answer:	Yes. It's designed for loose ground coffee. I like to use a #2 filter, but it has a washable screen if you prefer. Brews fast and adding a paper filter allows me to clean up fast.
Question:	What shape and size filter should I use, since I find them easier for clean-up? Thanks
Answer:	I make my own filters from paper towels! One towel makes four filters. Cut the paper towel in fourths. Turn the mesh filter upside down and form the 1/4 of a paper towel over it by spritzing water on the paper towel, and folding and tucking the sides of the towel over the ends of the mesh filter. I have even marked my mesh filters so it is simple to position the 1/4 of a paper towel correctly. Leave the paper filter(s) to dry and then you can use the paper filter instead of the mesh one. I'm thinking about making a video, since it is very simple to do, but not so simple to describe. (You do still need to use the little holder that the mesh filter would have fit down in, to hold the paper filter upright, and to drain the water correctly through the grounds, but you don't use the mesh filter and the paper filter at the same time.) Then I fold my eight filters and store them in a canister until needed. I have purchased eight of these coffee makers so that I could have eight mesh filters and thereby, have eight new paper filters made at a time, but that's just me. The last time I bought this coffee maker was in February of 2012, and I am still (as of Christmas 2018) using the first two coffee makers. The others are tucked safely away in case either of these stops. We also have a more-famous single-serve coffee maker for when company comes over, but I much prefer this one. I use the stainless steel cup as my mini coffee decanter and always have coffee in my cup that is the perfect temperature for me.
Question:	Do standard size coffee mugs fit in this brewers base? Or do you need to use a travel size mug
Answer:	Yes, depending on the height and diameter. I personally don't like the included travel mug, and have several ceramic coffee mugs that I've used for years. However, the base of the Black & Decker is only 3.5" diameter, so several of my mugs that are about 4.5" diameter end up tipping off the base and spilling. And, since there's only 5.25" of height for a mug, the 6" tall mugs I have that will fit on the base can't be accommodated because of height. Although this is a great brewer in terms of coffee temperature and speed, about the only 15-ounce mug that it will accommodate is its own travel mug. I ordered it to brew 15 ounces instead of the 8 ounces or so that most single-serve brewers are designed for, but end up having to brew into the provided travel mug and then pour the coffee into my own ceramic mug. Messy and inconvenient. Perhaps B&D will either increase the height or diameter to accommodate a "real" 15-ounce ceramic mug one of these days.

Answer:	Yes, it works with mugs. I use a very tall mug and it still fits with room under the spout. How much water you put in depends on how strong you want your coffee. I use what is a *normal* amount for me i.e., fill my tall mug almost to the top. I use this every day and have not been disappointed.
Question:	Is it easy to clean the filter for the grounds, or do the grounds stick in the mesh? Are there little paper filters that are designed to line it
Answer:	We don't have little paper filters, but the filter for the grounds is very easy to clean. I just wash it with water and it becomes clean in few seconds.
Question:	Can someone please tell me can you make strong coffee with this coffee maker? I purchase a coffee maker that I couldn't taste the coffee at all
Answer:	another way to get stronger coffee is by purchasing a darker roasted coffee. Many of the coffee packages will tell you how strong the coffee is. The more roasted the coffee bean the deeper/stronger the coffee will be. This coffee maker will only brew a maximum of 14 oz. per brew cycle but the coffee ground holder holds 3/4 cup of grounds. I would experiment with different types of roasted beans, amount of water used and amount of ground coffee used at one time to try to get the perfect cup of coffee for your taste.

Answer:	Keurig k-cups are too expensive. I use Folgers or Maxwell House or Wal-Mart pods. They work fine, especially Wal-Mart Pods (Medium-Dark) which only cost 25 cents each if you buy a carton of 100.

Question:	Can you use K-Cups for this and how
Answer:	As long as you can dump the contents of the K-cup into the little filter. Lots of people claim it is a waste, but we ended up with a case of k-cups that made a brew the wife loved...but they popped 75%+ of the time in the K-cup machine, after we had trouble with the previous case at about 50% pop rate. Now, they make great little sealed containers for use on trips and all you need is a thumbnail to peel off the foil top to get at the coffee.
Question:	What is the tallest mug you can put in there
Answer:	It comes with a 7" tall travel mug that keeps the coffee hot. I checked and that is the tallest - no extra room!

Answer:	You can use any tall coffee cup.

Answer:	Thinking of buying this or another 4 star brand - going with this one - description says use ground coffee or coffee pods (NOT K-CUPS). I have seen these coffee pods in stores, they look like tea bags without the string. The other 4 star brand does not say you can use the pods, but I don't see why not. Black & Decker is a more familiar name to me.

Answer:	If you only drink coffee clean the machine once a month. If you drink tea run clear water thru the machine after brewing the tea. If you make hot chocolate give the machine a though cleaning after making the chocolate, do not let the machine set without cleaning.

Answer:	Closed, approximately 15 inches at the highest curved point. You will need an additional 3 inches to open the top to insert the cup. I have to scoot mine out from under the cabinet to put the pod in but it fits under just fine until then.

Answer:	You can use any brand "K" cups in this coffee maker including the filter cups to use your own grounds. But you cannot use the large "pods". This is just an old fashion Keurig coffee maker that works great.

Answer:	The K-55 Does not come with a filter attachment. My wife purchase the filter attachment (Black) with reminder dial...not compatible. Supposedly the filter attachment for the K-55 is the clear plastic one that goes into the cold water reservoir and snaps to the bottom outlet. Goin to order it now. Yeah we made that mistake.

Answer:	I took the drip pan out and measured. A 4.5 cup will fit under it without the drip pan but not with the pan in place.

Answer:	Yes but if you are only making that cup just use it as a measuring cup when you put in the water to make sure it won't overfill. Also to note unlike most coffee makers this one does not have a pause feature to switch cups as it will just pour out when you remove the cup during brewing before it's done.

Answer:	It is plastic. I am bothered enough by the coffee maker being plastic and this just compounds my "bothers." I suppose the plastic insulates it better but I plan to find a stainless steel (not just on the outside as this is) mug to fit. I had a stainless steel mug with my previous coffee maker and really liked it.

Question:	Can you just brew water
Answer:	Sure can. Just pretend you put a pod in and use product as usual.. The hot water comes through as usual.
Question:	what size Paper filter
Answer:	It does not use filter paper. It has a reusable "permanent" filter and that is my biggest issue with this machine. The permanent filter allows some fine grounds to pass through and the filter would likely overflow if you added filter paper to it to eliminate this problem. This is true even though I set my coffee mill to a coarser setting, thinking that would eliminate the problem. It helped just a bit. I wish they had included a filter holder, but you could cut out the mesh of the permanent filter and make your own (cut to size) filter paper. I have not tried this yet but may later. Right now I just am careful to not drink the coffee to the bottom of the cup as the sediment is rather nasty. The only other alternative would be to filter the coffee before drinking which seems to make the point of a large cup coffee maker inconvenient rather than 'just right'.
Question:	Can you add milk instead of water in the tank for richer coffee
Answer:	Rather than using milk in the brewer, and risk ruining your coffeemaker, if you like a richer taste, buy a small carton of real whipping cream and add to your coffee after brewing instead. Coffee with real 100% cream versus milk or half and half is truly a gourmet experience, and is zero carbs, so it's keto-friendly as well. A little bit of 100% whipping cream goes a long way in your cup of coffee, so you can adjust the amount as desired. That would be my suggestion to try. :)
