7 best commercial coffee grinder

A commercial coffee grinder is a specialized machine used in coffee shops, restaurants, and other commercial establishments to grind coffee beans into the desired consistency for making coffee. These grinders are designed to handle a large volume of coffee beans and are built for durability and consistent performance. Here are some key points related to commercial coffee grinders:

1. Types of Commercial Coffee Grinders:

  • Burr Grinders: These grinders use two abrasive burrs to crush the coffee beans into a consistent size. They offer precise control over the grind size and are favored for their consistency.
  • Blade Grinders: Blade grinders use spinning blades to chop the coffee beans. While they are more affordable, they often provide less uniform grinding compared to burr grinders.

2. Manual Grinders:

  • Manual coffee grinders are operated by hand, making them suitable for small-scale commercial establishments or enthusiasts who prefer a more hands-on approach. They offer control over the grind size and are often compact and portable.

3. Importance of Grind Size:

  • The grind size greatly influences the taste of the coffee. Espresso, French press, pour-over, and drip coffee require different grind sizes to extract the best flavors from the beans. Commercial grinders allow baristas to adjust the grind size according to the brewing method.

4. Features of Commercial Coffee Grinders:

  • Adjustable Grind Settings: Commercial grinders often come with a range of grind settings to accommodate various brewing methods.
  • Dosing Control: Some models have dosing features that allow precise measurement of coffee grounds, ensuring consistency in each batch.
  • Hopper Capacity: Commercial grinders typically have large hoppers to hold a significant amount of coffee beans, minimizing the need for frequent refills.
  • Durability: Commercial grinders are constructed with durable materials to withstand heavy usage in busy environments.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning:

  • Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial to keep the grinder in optimal condition. Burrs should be cleaned to remove oil buildup, which can affect the taste of the coffee.

6. Considerations for Purchasing:

  • When choosing a commercial coffee grinder, factors such as the volume of coffee to be processed, the preferred brewing methods, and budget considerations should be taken into account.
  • It's essential to invest in a grinder that can handle the expected workload without compromising on the quality of the grind.

Commercial coffee grinders play a vital role in ensuring the quality and consistency of the coffee served in commercial settings, contributing significantly to the overall coffee experience for customers.

User questions & answers

Question: Is anyone having good results for both french press and espresso grind settings? aeropress
Answer: Glycerin is a byproduct of the soap making process. Sometimes the soap companies will scoop out the glycerin and sell it separately to make more money. Others like this one leave them in.
Question: How is static cling on the grinder body or grounds container? (my cuisinart and bodum both generate static.) is there any cord storage
Answer: the soap is about 2 1/2 by 2 1/2. you should have no problem fitting the soap in a vertical soap holder. good luck.
Question: How loud is this grinder
Answer: It is almost square. Its hard soap but you might be able to cut it with a knife and a hammer. It might not come out perfect but that does not affect its functionality.
Question: Am i the only one uncomfortable seeing that all the reviews are from people who got a free machine
Answer: No it does not. It is a Body Lotion, a moisturizer.

User questions & answers

Question: how long is the warranty
Answer: No only 110
Question: Anyone have any tips in keeping a cleaner work area? This setup seems to leave grounds dropping down every time I remove the bin
Answer: It is not easy to clean properly. I have had for 6 months and it stopped grinding. I called customer support which is excellent and they sent me a link with a video on how to clean the discharge shoot which has a 90 degree bend in it. It was clogged and prevented the coffee from dispensing. Must be a common problem if they have a video to send out. You have to really wiggle the wire end of the cleaning brush at the right spot to get the port unclogged. I used my shop vac, angled allen wrenches (which they suggest) and pushing from top and bottom finally got it unclogged. Love it when it works. Ordered those cleaning tablets and will use every two weeks. Will also clean out the port every two weeks. I use Black Rifle coffee which is delicious and has high oil content in the beans. Went 6 months with out a problem. The port clogging should be covered in the owner manual imho. Again - customer service was excellent.
Question: Why do reviews seem to be disappearing ? it said there were 2% 1 star reviews...i clicked on the 2% line and it said none available. hmm
Answer: I measure the beans with a coffee scoop before putting them in the grinder. Works fine, but if you are used to a timer, it may take awhile to get it down. The knob on the side can be turned a lot or a little. If you are unsure, put less beans in than you think you will need. I don't like leaving beans in the grinder. I've been very happy with my grinder. I bought the Precisio after returning the Encore as I do all different coffee preparations. I think the "timing" mechanisms are the same on both.
Question: Can anyone tell me how tall this is? Thanks
Answer: We can easily get espresso grinds at #4 where we like it. We use Peet’s Espresso Forte, and the results have bee consistently excellent for many years. The grind on this machine matches the grind we used to get in-store. We were surprised by the accuracy of the calibration. A #3 grind pulls a bit too slow, while a #6 pulls a bit faster than we like.

User questions & answers

Question: I wondr why one review says "no mess" and another says "messy no matter how careful I am." Can you clarify
Answer: I've had a number of burr grinders over the past 15 years. I have one of Capresso's older grinders at home. The 570.01 is in use at my office and it is by far the least messy, most efficient and quietest I've ever had. Highly recommended.
Question: Des it have an on switch that stays on until it completes grinding or do you have to hold it down
Answer: You don't have to hold it down. It stays on. You set a circular switch to a number—5, 6, 7, 8, o whatever— and it automatically grinds until it reaches the 0. Depending on the amount of beans, if there are still unground beans, you can set it to 1 again.
Question: They say it can grind Turkish, is that true? The last model could barely grind espresso
Answer: My wife is from Albania. I bought this grinder for her to make Turkish coffee and espresso. It is marginal for a Turkish grinder. The issue is the consistency of the size of the grounds. On the very finest setting, many grounds are as fine as powder, however there is great variance. At the bottom of the cup you will get many much larger flakes. It tastes good, but does not look great. The finest grind is even marginal for espresso. On a $2300 Clive A56 I can pull a good shot with 18 grams of beans, 94C, 9 bars, 30 second infusion, 55g out. If I could, I would grind finer and try to boost the crema and get the output down to 44g, however, I am already at the finest setting. I have tried regrinding the powder for Turkish to reduce the variance in the size of the grounds. That helps, but at that point, it might be faster to use a manual grinder.
Question: Is this grinder quiet
Answer: Compared to other grinders, this one is very quiet.

User questions & answers

Question: May I know if the 220V version is available? If so, how do I order it
Answer: It is in pdf form about 8 inchs above these Q and A's on this page.
Question: Is it easy to clean, especially the grinding burr
Answer: Dunno where it’s made, I’d guess china. It grinds well, very even. But it makes a mess. The mesh point between the ground canister and the grinder isn’t snug enough and grounds go everywhere each time you take it out to put grounds into coffee maker. If I had a do-over I’d buy a more expensive model, hopefully one that was manufacturer more precisely.
Question: My grinder uses a timer to dispense just the right amount for my French Press. Seems like Baraza will be more irritating work. Is it? How does it go
Answer: The coursest setting is far too fine. I don't like it for pour-over and it would be awful for French press. I can't imagine it working well for cold brew.
Question: I'm having trouble grinding anything finer than around a 7 - if I put it on a 4-6 (for espresso), the beans just pop around - what am I doing wrong
Answer: I used to have this problem with another brand of grinder. I used a long narrow strip of Al foil stuck in the ground coffee container of the unit and the other end lying on a damp sponge or towel on the counter. This disperses the static electricity and largely eliminates the problem. YMMV

User questions & answers

Question: What's the height of the container? Would a 5" Aeropress container fit under the nozzle
Answer: The container height is 3 and 3/4 inchs give or take a 1/16. There is about a 1/4 inch of clearance between the top of the container and the dispersal point of the grinder.
Question: I've had burr grinders where the grounds get stuck under the burrs and in the chute that goes to the grounds container. Does that happen with this
Answer: I've actually been using ground coffee rather than whole beans so far with this grinder. The finer grounds do get stuck in the chute and burr but are very easy to shake through by tapping the side of the container. Very pleased with the product so far!
Question: Has anyone used this for espresso grind? How is the consistency/grind size
Answer: Both the consistency of the and the grind size are well controlled. The size of the Espresso particles are as small and uniform as what you find with the Illy, Lavazza, etc., commercial products. This is true for the larger grind settings,as well.
Question: Anyone find the grinder didn't work at all despite calibrating, cleaning, and turning on etc
Answer: Yes ... 1st time OXO sent me a replacement. Same issue happened with the 2nd grinder after about 1-1/2 years, but now out of warrenty. Frustrating for $200 grider. Just ordered a new grinder from a different manufacturer

User questions & answers

Question: How tall is this thing when sitting on the counter
Answer: yes, I guess it should. I regularly use it to grind corriander, cumin seeds, cardamon seeeds and many other spices.
Question: Is it compatible with 220v
Answer: I don't know if Waring makes a 220V/50Hz model. If your client decides to run it off a transformer you should note that there is a fairly high probability that the motor would burn out before its time and it will operate at a slower speed with less grinding force. Furthermore, if your client runs it on a converter (not an actual transformer), the same results as with a transformer, but also a higher risk of the converter would catch on fire. My recommendation it that you contact Waring, directly and see if they make a 220V/50Hz model.
Question: why are all the reviews for dozens of unrelated products? this is a disaster of a product page
Answer: I haven't used wet items with this, but I'd guess no.
Question: What is the grounds container made of
Answer: No it wont work unless u use a converter. It is built for 120v
