9 best 20 inch pizza stone
A 20-inch pizza stone is a kitchen tool that is commonly used for baking large pizzas. Pizza stones are typically made from materials like cordierite, ceramic, or clay, and they are designed to mimic the cooking properties of a traditional brick oven. Here are some key points about a 20-inch pizza stone:
Size: The 20-inch measurement refers to the diameter of the pizza stone.A 20-inch pizza stone is quite large and can accommodate family-sized or extra-large pizzas.
Material: Pizza stones are typically made from natural materials like cordierite, ceramic, or clay. These materials are chosen for their ability to absorb and evenly distribute heat, which helps create a crispy crust on the pizza.
Use: To use a pizza stone, you preheat it in your oven for about 30 minutes to ensure it's evenly heated. Then, you slide your pizza onto the hot stone using a pizza peel or a similar tool. The stone helps cook the pizza evenly and gives it a crispy crust.
Benefits: Pizza stones are favored by home cooks and pizza enthusiasts because they provide better heat retention and distribution than traditional metal pizza pans. They also help absorb excess moisture from the pizza dough, resulting in a crispier crust.
Versatility: While pizza stones are primarily used for baking pizza, they can also be used for baking bread, pastries, and other baked goods. Some people even use them as griddles for cooking things like pancakes and quesadillas.
Care: Pizza stones should be seasoned by using them regularly. They should not be washed with soap but cleaned with a brush or scraper to remove any food residue. Over time, they may develop a seasoned patina that enhances their performance.
Maintenance: Be careful when handling a hot pizza stone, and avoid sudden temperature changes, as this can cause it to crack. If it does crack, it should not be used for cooking anymore.
In summary, a 20-inch pizza stone is a large cooking tool made from materials that help achieve a crispy pizza crust by evenly distributing and retaining heat. It's a versatile kitchen accessory that can be used for various types of baking, and proper care and maintenance are essential for its longevity.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does this item not have the kamado joe logo? i will be returning. seems counterfeit |
Answer: | Why would you return it...it says it on the box. It's a pizza stone how would they inscribe their name in it without breaking a bunch of them. Besides who cares! It works great it looks good and it holds up I've cooked over a dozen pizzas on mine and it still looks great. |
Question: | What is the diameter of the stone |
Answer: | I have the 16" stone. They make a 20" for the Big Joe grill. I use it over the smoker stone to avoid burning pizza. |
Question: | Is this for the Kamado Joe Classic 2? I want to make sure this is the correct one before I order. Thank you |
Answer: | Understand. I had similar question before I bought. I suggest you do as I did. Obtain the stone specifications (length/width) and compare to your grill. It should fit on top of the grill with at least an inch , preferably 2 or 3, around the stone for proper air flow. They change model names and numbers so often that I gave up trying to compare. I just measure and decide. I hope this helps. Dave |
Question: | How thick is this pizza stone |
Answer: | Roughly 3/4 inch thick.....that's my estimate. very hefty. |

Napoleon's Rectangular Baking Stone is perfect for grilling and baking. The porous stone pulls moisture away from your pizza crust, pastries, and breads, yielding crispy and light results. The natural surface doesn't retain odors and flavors; so last week's garlic pizza won't flavor this week's homestyle honey biscuits. Like your favorite cast iron frying pan, this stone will season over time, creating a non-stick surface and making it more effective. It is recommended that you hand wash your Rectangular Baking Stone by hand, with warm water, once completely cooled. Avoid soapy water and scrubbing.

Product description
Where there’s a party, there’s pizza—and tonight the party’s in your kitchen. It doesn’t matter if the only guests are this Honey-Can-Do Oven Rectangular Pizza Stone, a bottle of Valpolicella and you in your finest sweatpants. You’ll be making pizzeria-worthy pies with delightfully textured crusts. In the blink of an eye, this large pizza stone bakes up your dough, draping it in a gooey blanket of cheese you can wrap yourself up in or actually eat. The best part? In addition to being the best pizza stone for your oven, it doubles as the best baking stone for happenin’ bread parties, too.
Professional pizza and traditional European bread ovens are often lined with stone or brick. This is so heat is stored up and redistributed evenly. The resulting blast of heat from the Honey-Can-Do Oven rectangular pizza stone gives bread and pizza a nice chewy crust. The rustic French tarts called galettes are also well suited to a baking stone. To use the stone, place it in a cold oven and preheat to 500 degrees for pizza, or according to the recipe for bread or galettes. The stone is made of the same material that lines blast furnaces and kilns, so it can handle ultra-high temperatures.
Wait until the baking stone is entirely cooled before attempting to clean it. Let it dry completely before using again. Some discoloration will occur over time; this is natural and will not affect baking. Using baking parchment may help delay that discoloration. Do not bake cookies, turnovers or other high-fat items on the stone; the stone would absorb the fat and proceed to produce smoke and bad odors. The stone comes with a flyer that contains detailed use and cleaning instructions, as well as recipes for bread, pizza dough, and two pizza toppings. --Garland Withers

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the Cooks Illustrated reviewed Product? Is size 14x16 or 14.5x16.5? Is thickness 0.5 or |
Answer: | Most likely not. I have larger hands and my hands swim in these gloves. They work fine. I’d recommend a fabric style heat glove for a better fit |
Question: | Can this stone be used on a grill? I'm looking for one that can go directly onto my cast iron grate |
Answer: | Very good. The size is right. The inner fabric makes it easier for me to wear. |
Question: | Can this be used outside on a gas grill |
Answer: | Great. It can handle meat very quickly without worrying about the boiling temperature. |
Question: | Is this the pizza stone that was top rated by cook's illustrated |
Answer: | Gloves work great but are a little small, my hands are probably medium to large. Thermometer works great, claws are heavy duty plastic, brush and grill mat are a little cheap. Considering that the gloves alone cost $15+ at Walmart, I'd say cost performance ratio is good. I was satisfied overall. Set out to buy a thermometer and found this package for only a few dollars more than what the thermometer alone cost. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be left in the oven or does it need to be taken out when your not cooking bread or pizza on it |
Answer: | Actually, it should be left in the oven all the time. It helps to stabilize the oven temperature. |
Question: | Is this material sealed (glazed) or will oil soak into the stone |
Answer: | The stone is unglazed--unsealed. All baking stones are porous and will darken and discolor over time. The grease and toppings that drop on the stone actually improve the baking properties. This seals the surface of the stone and minimizes the chance of dough sticking to the surface. You can lay a sheet of aluminum foil over the FibraMent Baking Stone to keep it from staining if you like. The aluminum foil will not alter FibraMent's baking properties. Placing a sheet of foil over the stone will also help to minimize thermal shock and prevent excess moisture from coming in contact with the stone. |
Question: | how thick is the stone |
Answer: | The stone is three-quarters of an inch thick. |
Question: | can it be used as base (floor) for a wood-fired pizza oven |
Answer: | Although this baking stone has a 1500°F intermittent operating temperature limit, it cannot be exposed directly to flame, so the answer to your question depends on if the stone is elevated at least enough so that it is not touched by any flame. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where is this stone made |
Answer: | This product is manufactured by one of the most prestigious manufacturers of high quality cordierite products in the world. It is located in China and it and a few other Chinese manufacturers supply most of the world's requirements for cordierite mineral products used in kilns and other products used in high temperature applications. The stone has undergone and passed FDA, RoHS, European Union testing EED/EC, and German Food testing LFBG. |
Question: | what does everyone like round or square |
Answer: | Personally I prefer the Square / Rectangle. I quess it comes down to what you're using it for; we do a lot of bread making which results in multiple loaves / rolls baking at the same time. It's much easier to place multiple items on a Rectangle than a round stone; especially if you're using a pizza peel to place the items (perhaps on parchment paper)on a hot stone in a hot oven. If you were only baking a single item at a time the round stone would probably be ok. In my opinion having a rectangle gives you more flexibility. Happy. Baking! |
Question: | Would I do the same pre-heating with the charcoal grill? I am not sure if the charcoal grill will hold 400+F for 25 mins straight, plus more. Advise |
Answer: | I would definitely preheat the stone with the grill, but I don't know how long your grill can hold the temp. Pizza cooks best at higher temps, so I try to heat my grill and stone to over 500 for at least 30 minutes. |
Question: | What is this made of |
Answer: | This pizza stone is made from a very high quality proprietary blend of minerals mainly consisting of cordierite. Cordierite is a magnesium iron aluminum cyclosilicate which occurs naturally in contact with peltic rock formations. It is also found in conjunction with granite magmas and a host of other geological formations. With the geological stuff out of the way, we use it in our product because of its superior durability when used in high heat applications such as kilns and of course pizza stones. It is certified safe to use by the USDA, the EU, ROHS testing and German LFGB testing. Cast Elegance selected this as our product because it is very tough and will not break like the last 3 stones I bought. As the owner, I use it in my home to cook pizza and bread to feed my children - it has to be tough and it has to be safe or I wouldn't use it! |

14 inch Round or 16 inch Round | How Do I Choose the Right Size?
Choose the right size for your oven by measuring the shortest useable side of your oven rack.
If your rack slopes upwards at the back of your oven, omit that space from your measurements.
Most ovens will only accommodate the 14-inch diameter round stone or the 14 x 16 inch rectangular stone. The 16-inch round stone will not fit many ovens.
How Do I Clean My Cordireite Pizza Stone for Oven?
Never clean with soap or chemicals!
Always dry well in the oven before using. If chemicals or soap are used, they will soak into the stone and create an odor when they are heated. Also never season the stone with oil. The oil will soak in and create a smell when it burns off. Store the stone in the oven when not in use. It will keep the stone safe and dry and will actually improve the temperature profile of the oven and help the oven perform better.
Why Does My Pizza Baking Stone Have Stains?
Stains are normal and in fact over time, the stone will have many more marks and spots from use. Think of it as a wonderful patina of memories of all the great food that you have made. A well-used stone will be a beautiful mottled black and brown from the oils from cheese and crusts and baked things that it has created. This is all good and should be expected. The marks and stains will not affect the performance or function of the stone. All porous type cookware such as this and pottery cookware will stain with use. Many cooks even prefer a stone that has been used for a while!
