Answer:	There is no top lid. The black portion has holes and is a rubbery substance to put the knives down into. If you put the knives into the holder clean then there should be no need to clean the holder.

Answer:	Hello,the cutters come in various sizes. I would think your recipe and the amount of spreading would affect the size. On the average I'd say from 5" - 6" depending on the cutter. Some of the cutters would be in the 3" - 5" range. Depending on the spread of the cookie dough. One way to reduce the cookies from spreading too much, is to put the cookie tray with the cut cookie dough, in the frig for around 5 min. This helps to reduce them spreading as they bake,thank you
