Answer:	Thank you for your question. Yes, I thought the same thing when I first used the banneton. The linen cloth is used to cover the inside of the banneton but not required. :) The linen liner provides less "stickiness" in-between the dough and basket itself. It is a good aid for beginners and highly recommend! After a couple of uses as you get more comfortable you can stop using the liner. If you do not use the liner the rings are more visible on the artisan bread but you will equally get a similar result with the liner.
Question:	Where is the rattan material from
Answer:	Those are outer dimensions taken at the top of the banneton. When I received it, I thought it looked small, but it has been perfect for my batard dough which contains 456 g flour and 314 g water. I hope those figures help. The linen liner fits well and when dusted with rice flour has released the proofed dough well.

Answer:	Yes, proofing basket works great with sticky doughs. I recommend flouring inside the banneton and leaving it there for about 2 or 3 days before first using it with a sticky dough. Answer:	I have this same brand in the 9 inch round and I always leave it in the refrigerator for 12-36 hours. I just cover it with plastic wrap, but leave the basket bottom exposed. I find it bakes and tastes best with the longer fermentation, and the basket works great. I've have been using the two 9 inches rounds for about a year.
Question:	How do I get the bad chemical smell out of the linen cover
Answer:	it matters mostly because it is a food processing item and getting poisoned from this scares me. China also doesn't care about child/forced labor, using chemicals on things that can kill you, and sending knock off garbage. I trust USA first then European countries.

Answer:	I don’t get the lines when I use the liner, so I don’t use the liner. I flour the basket liberally, and this flour carries over to my final bread. I prefer to bake my bread in a Dutch oven at 475 degrees, lid on for 30 minutes, then off for 15. I get a beautiful artisan loaf, with lines from the basket, floured and divine crust, reliably!
