Answer: Theyre all the same just different brands

Answer: Hello, I use it on electric every day, For me it takes about 10 minutes to heat up on medium setting. It may heat up faster or slower depending on the quality of stove you have, my stove is a low quality stove, one of the good things about cast iron is you can also use it in the oven. Hope this helps

Answer: Ours came the same way. Don't worry it is part of the casting process. A good dry scrubbing will loosen and remove it. Then season it as per the directions. DO NOT short cut the seasoning process. Do it right and they will last for a century or more.

Answer: The big one is 2 hands heavy. I'm 75 ,225 lbs and it's a great pan but I use 2 hands to take it from drawer in bottom of stove to top of stove. My days of swinging cast iron pans are over. Medium and small are fine.

Answer: I think amazon must of goofed on saying it was only oven safe to 400. I have had my pan for quite a while and I bake my pizza's at 450 and have never had a problem.

Answer: It dose not say oven safe to 400 degrees. It says it will reach 400 dergrees in 4 minutes on medium heat. It's warning you/telling you that it gets hot in a short amount of time. I am not sure when or if they edited this but that is what it said at the time I have read it.

Answer: High protein (strong) wheat (white) flour, water, salt and a small amount of yeast. Combine the water (1 cup) with yeast and a little sugar (yeast food) and wait a few minutes to ensure the yeast is active. Add flour and salt (1.5 teaspoons) and combine until the dough comes together and leaves the side of the mixing bowl clean but is still tacky to the touch. Kneading is the key to great dough so knead it until it develops a sheen, then form into a ball, oil lightly the dough and the bowl and let rise for 5 to 6 hours. Beat down and knead 30 minutes before you need it and form (do not roll out with a rolling pin) into your desired shape. Let it rest while you get the other ingredients ready and preheat your oven as hot as possible. Cook it, let it rest for five minutes, cut into shapes you like and insert one shape into your mouth (be careful, shapes may be hot and toppings may slide off the crust onto your chin or shirt) (Do not eat too many pizza shapes as it may alter your own shape adversely).

Answer: I use it when we car/tent camped. Can do a lot with this combo. I use it to fry and bake (as a dutch oven) I even used it as a bean pot to make baked beans. At night, put it in a hole with the coals and cover it with dirt....by morning the beans are ready... It is now my RV prime cooking utensil. I bought mine almost 5 years ago (2016) and its still going strong

Answer: The skillet is 8-9lbs pot about 13. Together they're like, about 20 or so. They don't feel that heavy though, & amazon price is LESS then 1/2 what you'd pay for 1 pot on website..plus they're handy for whackin stuff! ;)
Question: Despite using oil and the pan being already seasoned, steak sticks to the pan. Is this normal for the first time or do I need to return my pan
Answer: It is common for new cast iron (even pre-seasoned) to have sticking issues. Just use a little more oil and butter when cooking your steaks and it will slowly build up more of a tolerance over time. Also, make sure the pan is hot before putting oil in, and especially any steaks. I have a glass top electric stove so I let the pan heat up for about 15 minutes before adding oil and butter. It starts at about 625 degrees, but after adding oil and butter, it cools to about 450. Then I add the steak after the butter melts, and I don't have any sticking issues at all. I use very coarse sea salt and oil to clean the pan, and then flax seed oil to re-season after. I turn the burner on high and let the pan sit there until it starts smoking and then turn off the burner and let it cool for a few hours (or even overnight) before putting it back in the cabinet. Hope this helps.

Answer: Just about 8 3/4“ x 6 1/4“. Keep in mind that the bottom flares out a little bit so I did the innermost base material that would be resting on an oven shelf.

Answer: Even though you may not BAKE bread at 500 degrees, it is a good idea to preheat the oven and cast iron up to 500 to compensate for heat loss when you open the oven. I typically turn oven down to 450/425 after I've placed the dough and covered. The preheating seals the crust and allows for a good steam.

Answer: I'm a bit late for you, but for anyone else who comes along wondering ...Wash well with hot soap and water when you get it home. Then dry it. Then put it on the stovetop on a low heat for a good 10-15 minutes to thoroughly dry the pores, while preheating oven to 350-400. Coat VERY thinly with a HIGH-smoke point oil (grapeseed or flax seed oil). Stick it in the oven, upside down (protect bottom of oven in case you've put too much oil on) and bake for a good hour. Turn off oven and leave pan in oven until cold. You can/should repeat as often as you want initially, up to about 6 times (if you stay aware of the pan, you can remove from oven while still warm to apply another THIN coating of oil, if not then start at the heating pan on stovetop point - best to apply oil to a warm or hot pan), but a couple to a few times should be enough if you're conscientious about applying oil to the heated dry pan after every use. (Oh, don't use soap again, just rinse or wipe out well after every use - using a scraper or hard brush if needed, then heat on stove). Eventually applying another coat of oil to the pan is something that only needs to be done every so often, and you'll have a beautifully seasoned pan without waiting for years! After cooking something greasy, I'd wipe out all the grease, heat the pan well wiping out the extra grease as it heats til pan looks dry. Not necessary to apply oil again since the bacon grease (or whatever) serves as a coating of oil.I have to admit, though, that I've never done the oven method, although I know it's highly recommended. Mostly because I have the time/patience to do it all on the stovetop (takes more babysitting and time). I've always PLANNED on doing the oven method, but it was summer when I got my first cast iron and didn't want to heat up the house. It worked so well for me, I've done all my pans that way. Now that it's winter, I may try putting a couple of my newer pans in oven, but most simply do not need it any longer.The reason I heat the pan on the stove every time after I rinse it is because there could be water vapor in the pores that I can't see. You need to dry that out before you season the pan! Besides, oil is applied better/easier to a warm/hot pan.Lastly, you ALWAYS want the pan to look dry after you've applied the oil. If you can see the oil, or the sheen from the oil, you've applied too much. Literally only takes a few drops! If you apply it too thickly, you'll probably end up with your seasoning flaking off down the road.If rinsing or scraping your pan isn't taking cooked on foods off, then you can use kosher salt as an abrasive. Toss it into the pan (I like to do it while it's warm), and wipe over the spot hard with a towel. It's worked for me every time, though I rarely get stuff cooked on (usually will happen if my daughter cooks since she's new to cooking). Worst case scenario - if you've done the seasoning recommended above, you cannot hurt the pan by boiling water in it for a few minutes, till the cooked on stuff softens. Answer: I bought this Lodge deep skillet from Wegmans (L8DSK3) because I just happened to see it and it didn't come with a lid. So I just purchased the lid (and received today) from Amazon "Lodge 10-1/4-Inch Cast-Iron Lid" which states it fits L8DSK3. Sold by: Amazon.com Services, Inc. for $21.45. It fits perfect.

Answer: The acid from the tomato sauce will remove the seasoning and when your done you WILL have to redo the seasoning process. Ask how I know this!

Answer: I made chili in mine as soon as I got it, and I browned 2lb of meat as the first thing I did ... 1lb. ground chuck (85% / 15% fat) and 1lb. ground pork ... and then obviously many other ingredients, but it came out fine. I would think you can brown just about anything you wanted in it... Not sure why you couldn't?

Answer: Yes, they are made overseas, not in the USA. I've had my pan for 7 years now...and it's used weekly, and more often in the winter months. I was a bit disappointed when it came and I realized it wasn't made in the USA but decided to give it a chance. After 7 years of hard use I can honestly say it's the best pot I have ever owned! It's discolored a bit, not surprising with the amount of use it gets and all the soups stews and roasts I make in it throughout each year. But that hasn't affected the pot at all. It is just a good as it was when I first bought it. I'm going to try the 1 cup baking soda and 4 cups water trick (boil 5 min let sit with the lid on for 2 hours) that I read about in one of the other questions to see if it will return to it's original beige coloring, but even if it doesn't, it's still going to be my "go to" pot for everything I can use a dutch oven for :-) I highly recommend this pot, even though it's not made in the USA!

Answer: Yes. I use mine on a flat top electric range all the time with no problems. I allow it to heat on medium heat and it's good to go!

Answer: That is because it is cast iron. Every so often, you need to "season" it, which is what makes the surface slick. The basic process is coating the exposed iron in high-heat oil, and heating it to a very high temperature for about an hour. There is a bit more to it, but just look up "how to season cast iron". The oil you rub in and heat onto it fills the porous surface of the iron and makes it non-stick. To clean cast-iron surfaces, you don't want to submerge in water or use soap on it. It is best to clean right after using, and overall just scrub any residual gunk off. You don't even need water, usually! If you use a bunch of soap and water on your pot, it will just ruin the coating, and you will need to re-season it. Question: Why is the red so much more than the blue
Answer: My best guess is that it comes down to popularity. Red glazes also "pop" more that many other colors, making a smooth finish potentially slightly more difficult to achieve.
Question: are enamel pots and their lid oven proof and what is max temperature
Answer: They are oven proof. Not sure about max temp but I have put them in a 450 degree oven without any problems.
Question: is weight really 16lbs as stated in product details
Answer: LoL.....it's not quite 16 lbs. however it is heavy. I appreciate the weight of the cast iron and the quality of the product. I own all their (Lodge) enameled cast iron pieces and it's admired by even my mom who owns the other very expensive enameled cast iron.
Question: Where is it made USA or China
Answer: Just received (5/20/2020) the Lodge 3.6 qt. Casserole made in China.
