Answer:	I compared mine to other serrated knives I have and they're about the same. Compared to my old steak knives, yes, they are more aggressive. But these are super sharp and easily cut through even thick sirloins. My old steaks knives were terrible with thick cuts of meat.

Answer:	I bought this iron after owning three other Rowenta professional steam irons. The shut off timer on this one is designed to drive you crazy and is completely unnecessary. I do a lot of sewing and pressing and I like to have my iron ready when I am ready, but with this 8 minute shut off, the iron is always cool and never ready when it is needed. I can see installing a timer for 30min-1 hour, but 8 minutes? Seriously? As a professional, using I want an iron reqady when I am. Rowenta needs to scrap the shut off timer and install a timer that actually fits the needs of its customers. A Huge "NO" for this iron and all others that have such a short run time.

Answer:	Yes you can see where the water is because there is an inside measuring instrument. You will clearly see up to what point you should fill it up. However, it makes no sense to waste your money and buy this iron because over time it is going to start leaking water from the bottom. All this does is to wet up your clothes, iron board and constantly having you do a re-fill. Makes no sense to get this as a steam iron. It doesn't serves the purpose for long.

Answer:	If you leave the iron on:. horizontally without moving it, it will automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. The power indicator will blink to indicate the iron has stopped heating.. on its heel rest without moving it, the iron will automatically turn off after several minutes. Power indicator will blink.The power indicator will continue to blink until the iron is unplugged or reset. These are the instructions which come with the iron and I have found them to be accurate.

Answer:	Beware of using tap water. I love this iron and am replacing it with the exact same brand and model. That said, I plan to use only distilled water in my new one. After using this iron with tap water for 3 or 4, I started getting rust marks on fabric when ironing and tiny black specks of something that didn't penitrate the fabric. After going on line and reading about rust in irons, it is most likely caused by a buildup of minerals inside the steam vents from using tap water. I tried cleaning with vinegar and water but stuff is still coming out of it so am replacing it.

Answer:	Add me to the group! I purchased this iron a year ago. A year and TEN days ago. I know this because this morning when water started pouring out of my iron, I had to look up the date of purchase, so I could use my spiffy one year warranty. So much for that!! One year, and this pretty expensive iron is broken, ten days after the warranty expires. I am beyond frustrated, reading that this has happened to others who purchased one of these irons. My last iron was $12 at Walmart and lasted 15 years, four moves, 2 children, and a serviceman who wore BDU's, which needed to be ironed, five days a week. Get the warranty!!

Answer:	Yes they are. That's part of what you're paying the high price for. I had another Rowenta iron similar to this and it had over 100 temperature settings. This is important if you iron a variety of delicate synthetic fabrics, because the cheap irons just don't "cut" it.

Answer:	Mine says Made in Germany on the iron. But don't do like I did and think it's an excellent product because it's not made in China. Wait till it starts leaking water out of the bottom. I can only use mine as a dry iron anymore. Read all the online reviews for this model. Leaking seems to be a common problem with these Rowenta's.
Question:	why should I not use distilled water in my rowenta iron
Answer:	I think the cleaning tap water after each use demand is reflective of the answer whether to utilize distilled H2O. I drink only distilled water for the past 30 years as it removes all impurities including radioactive isotopes ending up at 6.9 ph. Tap water is targeted at 7.2 ph, human blood 7.4 ph. Removal of the intended steam water after each use solves the standing water colloidalization of metal; then distilled no cleaning demand. For me, I will use this method with DISTILLED WATER and see my last iron last over 30 years until it breaks from age old wear. New iron, why should I change a sure thing of past experience; nope!

Answer:	1. The delux has over 400 holes in the soleplate, the standard has over 300. The more holes you have the more steam you will get. 2. The delux has a retractable cord the standard does no. The retractable cord allows for neater appearance and quicker storage. With my experience, the cord on the standard will eventually developen a short. 3. The delux has an illuminated electronic control while the standard has an indicator dial. There are a couple of other minor features but personally, I felt that if the difference was just the extra holes I would still select the delux.
Question:	any dripping issues with the chi? how does it compare to rowena
Answer:	There is no dripping. I do a lot of ironing so I always get the top of the line iron. I have 3 of rowenta's best irons that leaks and one where the stainless steel plate gets gummed up with the slightest use of starch. The quality of the rowenta has gone way down. I decided to buy the CHI aftER reading up on the iron. So far I'm very pleased and I don't have to clean the plate after every use. One more thing, I bought the deluxe model and paid 141.00 and later on found that everyone else sells the iron for 99.00. Did not think that amazon would allow vendors to hose their customers this way. I guess from now on I'll check other sites before making my decision where I'll spend my money.

Answer:	Yes - I am super critical of steam irons and especially those that are "leakers" - the only issue I have is you have to replenish the water when on a higher setting - specifically cotton and linen - Rowenta is the only iron product I have used for the past 20+ years and is an excellent product. More expensive but worth it - another hint/suggestion - after each use I self clean the iron pores from accumulated calcium build up. Found that over the years my Rowentas have lated longer due to careful cleaning.

Answer:	Yes, there USA difference. You do get what you pay for. Irons are no exception to this rule. I have had a Rowenta 5080 and 8080, and now have the 9280. It is the best iron I have had. If you really want the best ironing experience, combine a Rowenta 9280 and a HOMZ Durabilt ironing board. Makes you look forward to ironing. World of difference-top notch iron and board combined.

Answer:	It's about 3 cup or 26 ounces, the steam iron it's amazing best investment ever. I can iron two or three shirts with full tank. It's a steam iron and due to the 400 holes it uses a lot if water.
Question:	Does this iron have auto shut off? And how long before shut off
Answer:	I had the 5080. It worked well for a long time, but finally stopped producing steam. I next bought the 8080, used it for almost 6 years, and it still works. I treated myself to a new iron with the 9280. It is an excellent iron, the steam output is electronically controlled by the fabric selection you choose, thereby taking the guesswork out of manually controlling the amount of steam you use. The LED indicator for type of fabric is a nice feature, so you don’t have to check on the setting on the dial/switch. If you can afford it, and want to make ironing an easier task get the 9280. It is a real nice piece of equipment.

However, it makes no sense to waste your money and buy this iron because over time it is going to start leaking water from the bottom. All this does is to wet up your clothes, iron board and constantly having you do a re-fill. Makes no sense to get this as a steam iron. It doesn't serves the purpose for long.
Question:	does this iron have auto shut off
Answer:	If you leave the iron on:. horizontally without moving it, it will automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. The power indicator will blink to indicate the iron has stopped heating.. on its heel rest without moving it, the iron will automatically turn off after several minutes. Power indicator will blink.The power indicator will continue to blink until the iron is unplugged or reset. These are the instructions which come with the iron and I have found them to be accurate.
Question:	can tap water be used in this iron
Answer:	Beware of using tap water. I love this iron and am replacing it with the exact same brand and model. That said, I plan to use only distilled water in my new one. After using this iron with tap water for 3 or 4, I started getting rust marks on fabric when ironing and tiny black specks of something that didn't penitrate the fabric. After going on line and reading about rust in irons, it is most likely caused by a buildup of minerals inside the steam vents from using tap water. I tried cleaning with vinegar and water but stuff is still coming out of it so am replacing it.
