12 best rowenta irons for clothes
Rowenta is a well-known brand in the world of clothing irons, offering a range of high-quality products designed to make ironing clothes more efficient and effective. Here are some key features and aspects of Rowenta irons for clothes:
Steam Irons: Rowenta manufactures a variety of steam irons, which are designed to produce a consistent and powerful steam output. Steam irons help to remove wrinkles and creases from clothes more effectively than traditional dry irons.
Steam Boost: Many Rowenta irons come equipped with a steam boost feature that delivers an extra burst of steam to tackle stubborn wrinkles. This feature is especially useful for heavy fabrics and garments.
Variable Steam Settings: Rowenta irons often feature adjustable steam settings, allowing you to customize the steam output based on the type of fabric you're ironing. Delicate fabrics may require less steam, while thicker materials benefit from higher steam levels.
Precision Tip: Rowenta irons are designed with a precision tip that makes it easier to iron hard-to-reach areas, such as around buttons, collars, and seams. This ensures that you can achieve crisp and polished results.
Auto Shut-Off: Safety is a priority with Rowenta irons. Many models are equipped with an auto shut-off feature that turns off the iron after a period of inactivity. This prevents accidents and conserves energy.
Anti-Drip System: To prevent water from dripping onto your clothes, Rowenta irons often feature an anti-drip system that controls water flow, even at low temperatures.
Soleplate: The soleplate of Rowenta irons is typically made of high-quality materials like stainless steel or ceramic. These materials ensure even heat distribution and smooth gliding over fabrics.
Vertical Steaming: Some Rowenta irons can be used vertically to steam hanging clothes or curtains, making it easier to refresh and remove wrinkles from these items without taking them down.
Water Tank: Rowenta irons have a removable water tank that is easy to fill and clean. A larger water tank capacity means less frequent refilling during extended ironing sessions.
Cord Design: Many Rowenta irons feature a long, flexible cord with a 360-degree swivel, allowing for ease of movement while ironing.
Durability: Rowenta is known for producing durable and long-lasting irons that can withstand regular use.
It's important to note that Rowenta offers a wide range of iron models with varying features and price points, catering to different ironing needs and budgets. When choosing a Rowenta iron, consider factors such as the types of fabrics you frequently iron, the steam output required, and any additional features that would enhance your ironing experience.

User questions & answers
Question: | buy extra warranty or protection plan |
Answer: | Add me to the group! I purchased this iron a year ago. A year and TEN days ago. I know this because this morning when water started pouring out of my iron, I had to look up the date of purchase, so I could use my spiffy one year warranty. So much for that!! One year, and this pretty expensive iron is broken, ten days after the warranty expires. I am beyond frustrated, reading that this has happened to others who purchased one of these irons. My last iron was $12 at Walmart and lasted 15 years, four moves, 2 children, and a serviceman who wore BDU's, which needed to be ironed, five days a week. Get the warranty!! |
Question: | Are the lower heat settings gentle enough for jersey/stretch knit fabrics but still hot enough to get the job done right |
Answer: | Yes they are. That's part of what you're paying the high price for. I had another Rowenta iron similar to this and it had over 100 temperature settings. This is important if you iron a variety of delicate synthetic fabrics, because the cheap irons just don't "cut" it. |
Question: | is this iron made in Germany or China |
Answer: | Mine says Made in Germany on the iron. But don't do like I did and think it's an excellent product because it's not made in China. Wait till it starts leaking water out of the bottom. I can only use mine as a dry iron anymore. Read all the online reviews for this model. Leaking seems to be a common problem with these Rowenta's. |
Question: | why should I not use distilled water in my rowenta iron |
Answer: | I think the cleaning tap water after each use demand is reflective of the answer whether to utilize distilled H2O. I drink only distilled water for the past 30 years as it removes all impurities including radioactive isotopes ending up at 6.9 ph. Tap water is targeted at 7.2 ph, human blood 7.4 ph. Removal of the intended steam water after each use solves the standing water colloidalization of metal; then distilled no cleaning demand. For me, I will use this method with DISTILLED WATER and see my last iron last over 30 years until it breaks from age old wear. New iron, why should I change a sure thing of past experience; nope! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the model number |
Answer: | It is listed under product information near bottom of the listing as DW9281. I double checked on my iron and that is what mine says - Model DW9281 |
Question: | does this iron require distilled water |
Answer: | no, in fact you are not to use distilled water. Enjoy your iron, a great one!! |
Question: | holes?? In description say 400 holes, and then |
Answer: | About 70 holes. But do not purchase, as you can't see the water level easily, and the device I have purchased started leaking heavily after 12 months. |
Question: | What is the voltage rating? 110 or |
Answer: | 110 |
Question: | Can you use tap water in it |
Answer: | Yes I use tap water all the time |
Question: | Can you see or tell how much water is in reservoir |
Answer: | Yes you can see where the water is because there is an inside measuring instrument. You will clearly see up to what point you should fill it up. However, it makes no sense to waste your money and buy this iron because over time it is going to start leaking water from the bottom. All this does is to wet up your clothes, iron board and constantly having you do a re-fill. Makes no sense to get this as a steam iron. It doesn't serves the purpose for long. |
Question: | does this iron have auto shut off |
Answer: | If you leave the iron on:. horizontally without moving it, it will automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. The power indicator will blink to indicate the iron has stopped heating.. on its heel rest without moving it, the iron will automatically turn off after several minutes. Power indicator will blink. The power indicator will continue to blink until the iron is unplugged or reset. These are the instructions which come with the iron and I have found them to be accurate. |
Question: | can tap water be used in this iron |
Answer: | Beware of using tap water. I love this iron and am replacing it with the exact same brand and model. That said, I plan to use only distilled water in my new one. After using this iron with tap water for 3 or 4, I started getting rust marks on fabric when ironing and tiny black specks of something that didn't penitrate the fabric. After going on line and reading about rust in irons, it is most likely caused by a buildup of minerals inside the steam vents from using tap water. I tried cleaning with vinegar and water but stuff is still coming out of it so am replacing it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it have a good balance while using it |
Answer: | We have two of these, one for over a year now, and the watch battery is still going strong without need for replacement yet. Hence, have not had to change the battery at this time but the back case appears removable and the instruction manual states the battery can be changed. Yes, it can be changed. |
Question: | How long is the cord |
Answer: | Don’t ask me - it was incredibly difficult to use . I threw it away after a few weeks! |
Question: | Does this iron have 360 degree cord |
Answer: | It seems that it does. However, we can't figure out how to set them. the instructions are a bit vague. There seems to be the ability to set times for different days, however, pushing the buttons it highlights different groups of days. If that makes sense. Example; we needed to set an alarm for 2 days for 1 time, and we need an alarm set for the other 3 days during the week. We can't seem to figure it out. This watch is good, durable, and so far has survived swimming, and showers. Our son uses it to have an eye on the time, so he knows when to check in. Overall, good watch for the price, a bit tricky to figure out alarms... which we haven't as of yet. |
Question: | With regards to the stainless bottom, i do prefer a nonstick. Does the stainless drag while ironing? Thanks |
Answer: | Yes it has both |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the voltage of this steam station |
Answer: | Yes - I am super critical of steam irons and especially those that are "leakers" - the only issue I have is you have to replenish the water when on a higher setting - specifically cotton and linen - Rowenta is the only iron product I have used for the past 20+ years and is an excellent product. More expensive but worth it - another hint/suggestion - after each use I self clean the iron pores from accumulated calcium build up. Found that over the years my Rowentas have lated longer due to careful cleaning. |
Question: | What is the difference between : rowenta perfect steam pressure iron/steamer and rowenta dg8520 perfect steam iron station eco energy with 400-hole st |
Answer: | Yes, there USA difference. You do get what you pay for. Irons are no exception to this rule. I have had a Rowenta 5080 and 8080, and now have the 9280. It is the best iron I have had. If you really want the best ironing experience, combine a Rowenta 9280 and a HOMZ Durabilt ironing board. Makes you look forward to ironing. World of difference-top notch iron and board combined. |
Question: | Why is the model in purple $64.37 more |
Answer: | It's about 3 cup or 26 ounces, the steam iron it's amazing best investment ever. I can iron two or three shirts with full tank. It's a steam iron and due to the 400 holes it uses a lot if water. |
Question: | Does this iron have auto shut off? And how long before shut off |
Answer: | I had the 5080. It worked well for a long time, but finally stopped producing steam. I next bought the 8080, used it for almost 6 years, and it still works. I treated myself to a new iron with the 9280. It is an excellent iron, the steam output is electronically controlled by the fabric selection you choose, thereby taking the guesswork out of manually controlling the amount of steam you use. The LED indicator for type of fabric is a nice feature, so you don’t have to check on the setting on the dial/switch. If you can afford it, and want to make ironing an easier task get the 9280. It is a real nice piece of equipment. |

Question: | It spits and leaks all over my clothes. Items are too wet to wear right away. How do I solve this problem |
Answer: | No, I haven't found anything that would override it. I also use it for quilting and would rather it stayed on. I found out later that the Rowenta Focus does stay on. If I had known that at the time, I would have purchased it instead. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Size/dimensions of this steamer |
Answer: | The correct answer is that the iron will shut itself off if it is on and (1) you leave it flat for 30 sec., (2) tip it over for 30 sec., or (3) leave it vertical for 8 min. Unplugging the iron is not an AUTO turn-off. |
Question: | I just tried mine for the first time. The steam comes out (a little more than an iron) consistently, but it is not very strong. Is this normal |
Answer: | I can see the water level rise as I add water to the iron. You can see the level through the clear plastic cover. That said, this is a powerful iron that puts out a lot of steam. Therefore, it goes through a tank of water after I iron just two or three shirts. I am happy to refill the chamber as needed, since this powerful iron will take the wrinkles out of any fabric. |
Question: | where was it made |
Answer: | 120 volt |
Question: | Is there a way to override the auto shutoffs it will stay on. I need this feature for quilting |
Answer: | DG8520 has safety clip for nose of iron (plus indented heel area to securely hold iron nose to heel - iron stays securely in place since its gripped by both sides) - keeps unit snug together with less chance of falling while transporting (previous iron could flip off during transport as you have to physically hold onto both top iron and bottom generator/station unit). DG8520 also has on/off switch (for previous models without built in on/off switch - its possible to plug into power strip with on/off switch) which previous models do not... along with larger water tank. Both can be filled with water without unit having to be cooled down. Just refill and keep on pressing! ;)I've owned several of the last 3 models (for my sewing business - these Rowenta iron steam stations can be your best friend - saves time for repetitive motions)... and like the DG8520 the best. The built in on/off switch and longer time between refilling have spoiled me... plus it's neat that I can carry unit without fear of iron being bumped off while in transport. |
Question: | what does 3 way auto shut off mean |
Answer: | The designs are different. I am completely happy with the purple one. I had two previous models that I hated because they dribbled water all over, so (personally) I would not even bother with the cheaper one. In fact, I might buy another purple model to have in storage in case Rowenta changes the design on the NEXT model. |
Question: | how can you tell when the steam iron is getting low on water - I can't even see how much I am putting in once it goes inside the iron |
Answer: | From the description: SAFETY COMES FIRST WITH ROWENTA - Stay-cool fabric hose; 3-way auto-off feature shuts iron off after 8 Min. of inactivity on heel and 30 Sec. on soleplate or tipped over on its side |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it steam men's dress shirts, given its back to rub shirts up against |
Answer: | I have not used it on a man's dress shirt. My husband likes his shirts starched so they go to the cleaners. Thus far, I have only used it to steam out wrinkles on silks, knits and previously ironed clothes that get wrinkles in the closet. The back is a great feature on the steamer. |
Question: | Can this be used to steam items that are not propped up vertically (e.g., bed linens that are laid out on the bed, sofa fabric, sofa slipcover |
Answer: | Yes, I do use it for bed linens, curtains - am sure you could use it on a sofa depending on the fabric. |
Question: | How long have you had this product? Any problems with parts melting/rusting? Mechanical failures (i.e. on/off button)? Thank you |
Answer: | i have had my steamer for about 9 months and I use it all the time. There is no melting, or rusting of any parts. There are also no mechanical failure problems. This is a great machine and well worth the money I invested. My ironing board is very lonesome now. :) |
Question: | Does this steamer come with the crease attachment |
Answer: | I didn't find a crease attachment, but I like it with that pull-down panel and with that I can make creases in my pants it takes a little getting used to how to maneuver it but it is not that hard, I can steam/press my clothes really quick. However, as far as cuffs & collars it comes out better if you use an iron in those areas. I checked to find the best steamer available and this model was in the Hammacher Schlemmer catalog as being the best of the best. I despise ironing but love my clothes steamer...full disclosure, I paid full price for it and did not receive anything for endorsing this product. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How many ounces in the tube |
Answer: | Mine is a 1 ounce tube. |
Question: | What is the difference between zd100 and zd |
Answer: | According to Amazon, the ZD100 is a newer version of ZD110. The contents of both seem to be the same (1oz tube, two cloths and instructions). Except for ZD100 being half the price, I found no difference. The Rowenta website lists the ZD100D1 at $18.50 (it did not list the ZD110). |
Question: | How many tubes does it come with |
Answer: | one tube |
Question: | can it take off what looks like rust (dark brown) build up? not sure what this is. need help |
Answer: | I've had things that I've touched with a hot iron by accident that melted and turned brown. It looked like burned sugar, maybe. They were small spots on the edge of the sole plate but I was able to remove them with this cleaner. It may take more than one application though. |

Question: | Does this iron have option of choosing different temperature for different type is clothes |
Answer: | I own a DG 8520. Sorry, I don't know! |
Question: | What's the length of the cord |
Answer: | Yes you can dry iron with this device. There is a trigger to activate the steam, and it will only steam when the trigger is depressed. |
Question: | Does this iron turn off automatically |
Answer: | This is not the model we have so.... We have had 4 generators over 25 years -- my husband does own ironing and so do I. This is a great product and really cuts down on ironing time. I believe they are made in Germany but that may have changed. I would call Rowenta Customer Service at 1 (800) 769-3682. I'm sure they can help. The steam generator is a fabulous product. |
Question: | Is this made in germany |
Answer: | Si lo puedes usar en USA yo vivo aquí y la tengo son muy buenas me encanta |
