Answer:	I don't have this steamer, but I imagine the instructions say distilled water is best. Cost about a dollar or less per gallon. Distilled water has been evaporated and then condensed back into liquid form. This means it doesn't have calcium and other minerals in it that will form deposits in the unit.

Answer:	I haven't. But I have had one of those mall kiosk people use a flat iron on my hair and do it both straight and curled. I just never tried it! It's kind of wide, I think 1 1/2 inches so might not work too good. I think a 1 inch would work better.

Answer:	I can see the water level rise as I add water to the iron. You can see the level through the clear plastic cover. That said, this is a powerful iron that puts out a lot of steam. Answer:	DG8520 has safety clip for nose of iron (plus indented heel area to securely hold iron nose to heel - iron stays securely in place since its gripped by both sides) - keeps unit snug together with less chance of falling while transporting (previous iron could flip off during transport as you have to physically hold onto both top iron and bottom generator/station unit). DG8520 also has on/off switch (for previous models without built in on/off switch - its possible to plug into power strip with on/off switch) which previous models do not... along with larger water tank. Both can be filled with water without unit having to be cooled down. Just refill and keep on pressing! ;)I've owned several of the last 3 models (for my sewing business - these Rowenta iron steam stations can be your best friend - saves time for repetitive motions)... and like the DG8520 the best. Question:	One person said that you have to use only distilled water with this; is that accurate? Why would there be a problem using regular tap water
Answer:	My original response was based on my 2012 Model GS23, and thanks to a comment on my answer, it needs to be revised. I see the newer GS23R model's instructions (available online) do say to use distilled water to prevent mineral deposits in the boiler that can reduce performance or clog the water system. I guess Conair may have had reports of clogs (or modified the newer model) and changed their instructions. (Original answer: The instructions that came with mine say "Open the inlet cover and fill the reservoir with everyday tap water (filtered water may reduce hard water problems)." I've been using tap water for 4 years, it's used about once a week, and it still works fine, no problems.)

Answer:	I have been using this steamer for about three months now, at least weekly. Most of my pants and shirts are cotton, made in India and steam better than ironing. Have had no problems, I use distilled water, and I absolutely would recommend this steamer to anyone. I have had different ones in the past, and I by far like this one the best. I love the attachments that come with it as well.
Question:	I only used my steamer once. I tried using it few days ago and it won't steam. It heats up, light turns green, it just won't produce any steam
Answer:	THE FIX: My device stopped working after first refill. Both lights were on and it made continous grinding sound, but no steam. Here's how I fixed it. No disassemly is required. No need to flush it with vinegar either unless it was used heavily for months. The problem is likely that air bubbles get in a line inside the steamer's handle which leads from a reservoir to a pump. Water pump is not powerful enough to create vacuum to dislodge the bubbles. 1. Fill the reservoir completely with distilled water. Make sure to top it off. The idea is to have as little air inside a reservoir as possible. Put the reservoir back in place. 2. Turn the steamer upside down. That way gravity helps water to clear air bubbles and get to the pump. Make sure to point the steamer away from hands, faces, cats, etc. while holding it in this awkward position. 3. Turn on the steamer. Tap the steamer repeatedly, not too lightly, but not too hard. This helps to dislodge air bubbles. 4. If you're lucky, after 10-15 seconds the sound from the steamer will change and it will start producing steam.
Question:	My product stopped working and it wont produce steam even with green light on. Any clues on how to fix this
Answer:	My device wouldn't produce steam after just one use and a year in storage. So, from on-line reading, I figured the problem was an airlock (bubbles of water) trapped in the internal tube. It is otherwise heating and light indications are normal. So I let it cool, pulled out the water reservoir and placed it head down into the bath sink (do ensure the device is unplugged, cooled for this step). Take about three or four inches of aquarium air hose tubing (you can purchase it at pet supply). It's about 1/8 or 3/16 inside diameter. Push one end over the water supply inlet, inside the cavity where the water reservoir normally sits. Now take a medium to small size syringe. Fill it with water (best the pure kind you purchase at pharmacies - well you might just try air alone). Now forcibly use the syringe to flush a solid stream of water through the device internal tubing. Stand the travel steamer up. Removed the improvised maintenance hose. Fill the water reservoir and replace it. Now turn your steamer on, let it heat the required time and steam away. It worked like a charm in my case - steamed mightily. I am saving my bit of resourced tubing and the medium plastic syringe - with instructions - and storing it with my steamer device, since I only use it every six months or more. I know it will air or water bubble lock the next time round. I will be ready.

Answer:	Same here. Gargles loud but steam is weak. It turns off every 60s or so for around 10s, and turns back on. Take a lot longer than my previous Conair unit from Costco. Very disappointed. Returning this.

Answer:	I think the problem would be calcification not mold. It calls for distilled water. I would be sure it is empty of water when you are done. It is light and easy to work with, in my opinion.

Answer:	Fabric steamers are almost designed for items that are hanging. You're holding a jug of boiling hot water (hopefully with a glove) guiding the steamer up & down the fabric. They've long been designed for travel, we've used them in the fashion business for years. So, the design isn't made to be tilted. It may change, but hasn't yet. Not unless you buy an expensive, vacuum-sized steamer. I just use the steam feature on my regular iron for items that must lie flat. But, using a steamer for wedding dresses, curtains, tapestries, or extremely wrinkled items in a hurry, simply can't be done with an iron. It's is also a great way to save money at the dry cleaner!
Question:	Does this steamer have a grounding plug (3 prong), and an automatic shut-off
Answer:	It only has two prongs but it does have automatic shut off which is great so it doesn't cause your device to overheat if you mistakenly left it on. I suggest not overfilling the device. I haven't has any problems so far and I've had this steamer for over 6 months.
Question:	How many ounces of water does this hold and how many continuous minutes of steam can you get when it's filled with water
Answer:	It may look like a size of a soda can but it holds exactly 1/2c water! Just 4ounce to the MAX line. Heats really fast and a lot of steam
Question:	My steamer for some reason steams very short intervals and takes me forever to steam one item is that normal
Answer:	I contacted the seller and they told me the following: "I am sorry about the steamer and thank you for reaching out to us, we are more than happy to help. This could be due to mineral build up. To remove the mineral build-up, turn off the steamer, and after the unit is completely cooled off, pour in the tank 1 cup of both water and vinegar solution (50:50). Leave it for about 5-10 minutes to sit before emptying it out. Please try this suggestion and if you continue to experience problems let me know immediately so I can further assist you and send you a replacement. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you." So while it seems like this is a common problem, it's easy to fix. Give it a whirl.

Question:	How long can you leave the steamer in the Standby mode
Answer:	As long as you need to.
Question:	I have a twenty year old Jiffy steamer with the water bottle that I would like to update to a newer model. Do you need to remove the hose before emptying the base and is the base heavy on this model
Answer:	The base is heavy, yes. I don't know about the hose but I believe you don't need to remove it. I would recommend getting the smaller jiffy steamer with the plastic water container instead of this. This one is not much more powerful and very cumbersome.
Question:	I read and followed the direction on the product manual, light is green indicates ready to use. When I press the steam button. No steam
Answer:	I turned mine own to see. It heated up, and the light turned green. Mine works fine with steam coming out after I press the steam button. Maybe you could try holding down the steam button for a few seconds. Assuming you have enough water in the water well, the steam should be coming out. It might be defective. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

Answer:	Mine stopped working after 8 months. I can't find any manufacturer information online or on Amazon. Would love to take advantage of the so called hassle free 1 year warranty.

Answer:	Yes, people are still getting paid $10 credit for a positive review. This is pretty shady practice for amazon review system. My steamer didn't take any wrinkles out and I returned it. The frequency of these 5 star reviews is in 100s every month. Not sure. Certainly gaming Amazon review system. It makes the very core of amazon experience unreliable and I as a prominent amazon prime customer is skeptical on my future purchases.
Question:	Can this be used on bare floors such as linoleum or wood
Answer:	If you want a good, reasonably-priced floor steamer, I would recommend a Shark. I've had one for a couple of years now, and I love it! I paid well less than $100 for it; though I don't remember exactly what I paid, I believe it was even less than $50 on sale at a local big box.
Question:	Is it possible to create creases in pants? How
Answer:	I needed to crease napkins so i just laid them on the ironing board and “ironed” therm with the steamer. It worked perfectly. I imagine you would be able to do the same with your pants.
Question:	How do you hang clothes to steam? Can you hang them from the steamer itself
Answer:	Yes, I use a plastic hanger bc the wood can stain your clothing. There is a spot to hang next to where you hook the hose at the top. Love this steamer. Word of warning, do not leave water in it when not in use. After each use, I take the water bucket out and allow it to continue steaming until the water in the machine is gone. This prevents spores from growing and prolongs usage of steamer I believe.
Question:	Do you need the metal head
Answer:	As previously mentioned, the metal head acts heats up and can be used as a traditional iron, but for steaming it's bulky (large diameter) and too heavy to hold for any length of time. I exchanged the metal head for the plastic head

Answer:	I would question using tap water or distilled water. Because I have 2 Rowenta irons. and love them both. I used only tap water for 2 years. I notice. my tank was getting a build-up on iron & rust. I called the company to how to a suggestion. clean it & water product to use. They were very helpful and told me how to clean it. They also suggested I use only bottled spring water . So now I buy small bottles ( like 12 oz ) to use in my Rowenta irons. . Just a suggestion .
Question:	Do you have to use this upright, or can it be tilted downward without leaking water
Answer:	Great product. I use this weekly for mixed fiber shirts. I have tilted this about 5-10 degrees on rare occasions without any leakage, but for best results I find it should be used upright. Also the steam is hot, so upright provides the ventilation.
