Answer:	The mattress in this bassinet is actually pretty decent, it's not like the other bassinets that all they have is a board... I bought the mattress 16x32 oval because I didn't know. I ended up putting that mattress under the one it originally brought for more support. It's up to you I don't think you really need it.
