Answer:	According to the instructions the unit should stay on if it is attached to a powered USB outlet. It also suggests "if the function is not working properly, use the ejector pin to open the reset button on the lower right side of the toggle switch to restore the factory settings". I would try that before trying to reach the supplier for relief if it is still under warranty. Hope this works for you!

Answer:	I used a regular Energizer AA battery in each of the clocks I bought, and they're both working fine. But if I had to guess I'd say it probably has something to do with protecting the environment (throwing one battery in the trash is better than throwing another battery in the trash).
