Answer:	Have had the clock for about one month. It is quiet, no problem. My only complaint is that it is too small: My vision is not perfect, I cannot read the time without my glasses, especially on waking during twilight. The hands are white, though outlined in black against a white background. Probably not a problem for a younger person.

Answer:	I bought it because there was a chance it wasn't made in China. However, there is no marking on the clock itself and I don't have the packaging any more. IIRC the packaging didn't tell either.

Answer:	It's the other way arround. The clock is never lit, the numbers you see are the reflection of the ambient light. In night time, the clock is pitch dark. It iluminates for 10 seconds when you hit the light button in top and when the alarm starts.
