User questions & answers
Question: | Can alarm be set to silent, lights-on only |
Answer: | No. The light comes on , only when you press the snooze button. |
Question: | Does alarm turn off automatically after one minute |
Answer: | Yes, it turns off after 60 seconds if you don't hit snooze. Also, if you don't bother to turn off the alarm, and it stops beeping on its own, it will automatically go off at the same time the next day to wake you up again. You don't have to set it again. (I have the black one admittedly, but they are exactly the same except for the color...so I assume the white is the same as the black version). |
Question: | Does it fold up |
Answer: | No - it sits like pictured but does not fold. It can be tucked among clothing easily though. So far so good - mine is holding up well and I'd recommend it. |
Question: | what kind of batteries does it use |
Answer: | Two AAA batteries. Readily available anywhere. But in several years of running I've never had to replace them - so battery life is very, very long! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a Digital Tuner?? (Tune with button? or wheel??) Does it bring in and hold stations |
Answer: | It is not a clock radio; just a clock. Clock and alarm is set up with buttons on top. |
Question: | Time changing |
Answer: | I AM SO SORRY TO HAVE TAKEN SO LONG TO RESPOND. Life is just a bit busy When a person has 5-6 email account besides the one for work and Then misplacing an email that had needed to be answered. This Westclox Tech 47547 has been the BEST Battery Alarm Clock I could have ever purchased. I have 2 of these I purchased my first which except from the display being smaller is otherwise Identical to the newer model. I used my first while I was Active Navy for 4 years and then as a reservist of several different types, as my employment moved me from state to state over a 15 year span. When I'd be assigned a desk duty at 2-6am, you got to be on time cause if you ARE ever late or miss it entirely Your not gonna get any Roses. More likely you'll get a lot of friends and mates and higher ranking individuals Mad. Must have a battery powered alarm clock, cause the AC Power you are conned into relying on will go out no matter where you live or who you are. Being late for Work or School or what ever you need to be ON TIME for Is most likely critical to your future in some way or other. This new model has a load setting as the older model has except this one changes the type and mixture of sounds 5-6 different times over a 30 second period. I have slept thru the loud setting maybe half dozen times over my 19 years at my current employment. But each of those times were after I would have 5-6 nights in a row and each night I would only get 3 hours of sleep. In the service I was never short on sleep but my life as it is now has many stressors pushing me to fill more hours in every 24hour day with more activities Just to keep up. I have been plagued over 25 years now with a serious case of Tinnitus (ringing or buzzing or clicking Sounds, 24/7/365) which only the person that has the Tinnitus are able to hear. At Times it can be a chore to get to sleep but as for myself, once I am asleep I can almost sleep thru a Tornado or an Earth Quake. This clock placed on my night stand within 2 feet of my head, set on LOAD, Has never failed me. Using it 5 days a week the batteries can last for 4-5 years. NOW THAT IN ITS SELF IS AMAZING. I take my older one that is just as load but only has one beeping noise lasting 30 seconds with me whenever I travel. The long bar on top is for snooze which is 5 min on my old model and 4 minutes on the newer one. Pushing the long bar at any other time will light up the display and as such is 1 big reason I prefer it over other electronic display because it's liquid crystal and not bright red LEDs. I would suggest this to anyone. When I purchased my first one, I did not have Tinnitus and was OK with the standard volume for the alarm. I remember the first few times when I started using the load setting I would literally JUMP OUT OF BED. Scarred the (Whatever) out of me. I have never questioned the fact That these Clocks have been a BEST BUY for myself. |
Question: | Do's this clock plug into a wall or is it battery operated |
Answer: | Battery operated only. There is no cord to plug in to the wall. |
Question: | Is this a buzzer or siren alarm? Most hard of hearing people can't hear the high pitch of a siren. We remove our hearing aids when sleeping. Thanks |
Answer: | This neither a siren or a strict buzzer. It's a type of mid-range tone which beeps loudly & intermittently..."Bee-ee-p... Bee-ee-p... Bee-ee-p" By my way of judging, it has two volume settings LOUD & VERY LOUD. If you can sleep through it...then you're not just hearing impaired, you're probably deceased. |

The travel lock means you do not need to reset the time, everything remains the same, just the buttons are no longer operable. Note that the alarm, if set, will still go off! |
Question: | How do you stop the light from flashing, when the alarm goes off |
Answer: | Press the Alarm On/Off button |

User questions & answers
Question: | Hi, is there audio of what sound this clock makes |
Answer: | It is a fairly loud click when you hit the light button. Haven't heard the alarm though. The click will probably wake another person. |
Question: | Does the alarm turn off completely after one minute |
Answer: | The alarm does turn off after one minute---I love the clock except for the fact that the one I have is very difficult to set the alarm--The minutes set easily but the hour is soooooo random I have to hold my mouth right and even then it is very random. If you want to set it for the same time every day, then I guess no problem! The "setting" buttons are very small and flat and hard to move. |
Question: | Is it really that small that it will fit nicely into my pocket(Woman's size pocket |
Answer: | This alarm clock measures: 3 3/4" in length, 2 1/2" in width, and 3/4" in depth. Therefore, I think that it should fit most pockets! |
Question: | When the cover is closed will the alarm still sound |
Answer: | Yes! I tested the alarm when I heard about your question, and I am happy to say that the alarm does sound with the cover closed. |
- Ultra Small (2 ¼" x 2 ¼" x 1 ¼"), light weight (2 oz), square features make this travel alarm clock stands out in a crowd. It fits easily into a suitcase even your pocket during your journey.
- A large convenient alarm on/off switch is located on top where it is easy to reach. Easy access snooze and light bar is on right hand side of the front, away from the backside time and alarm setting wheel.
- Manual-backlight illuminated dial glows evenly across the entire dial for night time viewing. Luminous hands will glow for a few minutes after the lights have been turned off.
- Ascending four beep alarm volume increases in four stages until the alarm is turned off or snooze bar is depressed.
- Quiet Sweep movement is run by one AA battery that is NOT INCLUDED. Second hand moves no-ticking, silent alarm clock does not tick for restless sleepers.
User questions & answers
Question: | How do you set the alarm for 6 am as opposed to 6 pm |
Answer: | Since the alarm sounds for nearly 1 hour, for 6 am you have to wait until 7 pm has passed in order to set for 6 am, and vice versa. Thank you for your understanding all this type of analog alarm clock are 12-hour clock without AM/PM. Thank you. |
Question: | The last clock I got that claimed to be silent developed a gradual loud/rapid ticking. Has this clock stayed silent for those who've had it months |
Answer: | Have had the clock for about one month. It is quiet, no problem. My only complaint is that it is too small: My vision is not perfect, I cannot read the time without my glasses, especially on waking during twilight. The hands are white, though outlined in black against a white background. Probably not a problem for a younger person. |
Question: | Is this clock silent or quiet |
Answer: | The clock is silent unless you put it against your ear. There is no ticking sound. The second hand turns smoothly like a plug in clock. I have never seen this type of movement in a battery clock. |
Question: | Does pressing and holding the light/snooze button keep the light on indefinitely? Or does it time out regardless of hold after a short time |
Answer: | The light does not stay on or "time out". When you press the light/snooze button, the light comes on and it goes out as soon as you release the button. Simple as that. This is a great little clock. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Many travel alarms fold into a clamshell to protect the clock face from scratching during travel. Does this clock, folded, cover the LCD display |
Answer: | No. You can see in the photo that the stand has an open area in the center. That opening leaves the digital display visible when the stand is in the closed position. The control buttons, however, ARE covered when the stand is flipped over the front. I suppose it could be considered unprotected in the closed position, but it is exactly what I needed for the application that prompted my purchase. It would be easy to slide a piece of thin protective cloth or other material between the stand and the face, if there is a concern about scratches during travel. |
Question: | Can you set the time manually i.e. over ride the atomic feature |
Answer: | Yes! In the normal mode, press and hold "CLOCK" key for 2 seconds until the time zone flashes. Press "UP" or "DOWN" key to set the desired time zone. Press "CLOCK" key again until the Year digit flashes and repeat the same operation that was used to change the time zone. Continue to press "CLOCK" until the calendar and time areas appear. Use the "UP" and "DOWN" until you reach the desired settings. Press and hold the "CLOCK" key for 2 seconds to save and exit the settings. You have manually set the clock. If you do not want to receive the radio signals that will automatic set the clock, there is a switch in the battery compartment on the right side that should be moved to the off position. |
Question: | How long will the battery last with the night light on all night |
Answer: | I've had mine for a few months and it's still working like it did on Day 1. |
Question: | Is the background color always yellow with black letters or do you have to push backlite button to get this color |
Answer: | You must push the backlight button to get the clock to look like like the picture. Normally it is gray background with black numbers. |
