A gallon of Firefly CLEAN Lamp Oil lasts significantly longer than common paraffin lamp oil. We’ve tested both fuels in house and our customers have had similar results. NEVER MIX FUELS as mixing will change burning characteristics.

Our new CLEAN fuel is a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for paraffin lamp oil. Firefly CLEAN lamp oil is smokeless, sootless, virtually odorless, provides a great flame and is longer lasting than paraffin oil. Firefly CLEAN Fuel uses no colorants is for indoor and outdoor use and is safely packaged using childproof caps.

We recommend using CLEAN lamp oil in small-wicked devices such as oil candles, oil lamps and lanterns. We DO NOT recommend using this oil in large-wicked vessels like tiki torches as it will smoke. Firefly CLEAN Lamp Oil will perform adequately in Aladdin Magical Mantle Lamps. It will not provide as bright a flame as a 1-k kerosene, Kleen Heat or Aladdin Lamp Oil that have a 141-degree - 145-degree farenheit flash points. Firefly CLEAN lamp oil was designed specifically to perform best in lanterns with flat wicks and small round-wick candles. The flash point is 220 degrees F.

Question:	Does it burn longer than say cheaper oils. I have a 3oz jar and let it burn continuous but in say 6-8 hrs the oil was gone
Answer:	I feel that it does burn longer than the cheaper oils. When I burn a 3oz lamp continuously the oil will last, on average, about 10-12 hours before I have to refill the lamp. Also, the oiil lives up to its claims that it burns without fumes or odor.

Question:	What kind of oil is this made from? Is it Petroleum-based? Is it non-toxic
Answer:	Hi PJFirefly Clean lamp oil is refined and distilled from petroleum. The refining and distilling process removes the Firefly product from the base petroleum leaving a pure fuel that has similar properties of paraffin. It is toxic to drink but has virtually no smell and burns clean with no noxious fumes to speak of.Phil Tyson

Answer:	If your oil lamp requires a petroleum-based fuel, Firefly CLEAN Lamp Oil is a good choice. This fuel works well in oil candles and cold-blast lanterns that use a small wick. Large-wicked vessels that use a large 1/2" wick like tiki torches are not recommended as the fuel will smoke. We don’t recommend adding scents or essential oil to our fuels for two reasons.  1) Adding scents will change the burning characteristics of the fuel and may produce soot and smoke 2) Adding essential oils is expensive. With the two caveats just said, some of our customers have successfully added scents.   We have a better solution!  We know folks love scents; so, we created refillable aromatherapy candles that use very little essential oil but provide the scent you want. We suggest using the fuel in oil candles, table-top tiki torches, oil lamps and lanterns. Try it plain or purchase with citronella or eucalyptus oil to keep the bugs at bay.

I'd like to give you some tips so that you can get the maximum performance from Firefly Liquid Paraffin Lamp Oil. IMPORTANT: You can get even the purist fuel to smoke if you use it improperly.

1) Remove old residual fuel from the fuel reservoir before filling with Firefly Fuel. It doesn't need to dishwasher clean but you certainly don't want to mix fuels together. Mixing fuels will change their burning properties and may cause excessive smoke.

2) Use a clean wick. The wick is the delivery vehicle for the fuel. If the wick is contaminated with old fuel or water, it will not perform properly.

3) The wick should be as low as possible. This will reduce smoke, provide a more consistent flame and conserve fuel.

Liquid Paraffin Lamp Oil will solidify at the freezing point of 32 degrees. It will turn to liquid again above 32 degrees without harm to the fuel.

Here are other considerations that may be of interest. Our plastic bottles are recylable All Firefly Fuels use commercial-style bottles with childproof caps and there are NO inactive ingredients, such as colorants, which reduce purity.

And, what about potential leakage? We electronically seal our bottles to prevent leakage and our packaging has been tested and approved to ensure the product gets to you in tip-top shape.

Question:	Does this keep the mosquitos away
Answer:	I'm using it outdoors to keep Japanese beetles off my raspberries and blueberries. Works great for that.
Question:	How many hrs burn time
Answer:	That is a difficult question to answer since it depends on the device you are burning it in and how much of the wick you expose. I use the oil in a Desert Steel torch and it has a 4 ounce fuel tank and it burns for about 5 hours. So based on the math it says it has a burn rate of about 1 1/4 hours per oz. But I do have the wick exposed about an inch or so. The product is great producing no black smoke like most tiki torch oils do. Since I have my torched under an overhang so the clean burning aspect makes it a great product.
Question:	For mosquitoes can i put this oil on oil warmer? It will work

The two variables that affect the performance of your tiki torch oils are contaminated wicks and wicks that are simply exposed too much. You waste tiki torch fuel and encourage excessive smoking when the wick is over exposed.

The wicks on your tiki torches or lanterns should not be exposed more than 1/16″ to provide a nice flame - we keep ours flush with the collar and use high-quality, fiberglass tiki torch wicks.

Contaminated wicks also contribute to poor performance. If you leave your torches outside and uncovered, your wick is soaking up rain water, and if you change fuels, you need to change the wick too, or dry it before soaking in Firefly Tiki Torch Fuel. You must also empty the torch reservoirs to ensure our safe lamp oil is not mixed with previous fuels as the performance will be compromised.

We will soon offer it in three colors.Frosted has not been a big request so there are no plans at this time to offer a frosted version.I will ask for a frosted sample of a Bliss Petite. Question:	We'd like to place seaglass below the oil candle but I'm not sure how to do so if the cylindar is open on both ends. Could you explain further
Answer:	That sounds like a lovely idea! Only thing I can think of is if you had a larger, cylinder glass container like a flower vase. Put sand in bottom of vase, placed the candle cylinder in the sand, then the sea glass inside cylinder (sea glass will sit on the sand), then place the round oil container into the cylinder over the beach glass. Or, even any type of shallow bowl to put sand in first, then the candle cylinder, beach glass, & place round oil container inside cylinder over the beach glass. Hope this helps?! :)

You can easily color your outdoor or indoor lamp and candle oil using our liquid candle dyes. No longer do you need to purchase lots of different EXPENSIVE colored lamp oil. Do it yourself easily and without any mess. Please note that different colors have different viscosities and it is advisable to shake before using.

You will need paper towels, 2-3 wooden toothpicks, oil-based color dye (which you just found!), an oil candle or oil lamp and Firefly Lamp Oil. ;-)

Step 1) Create a small protected work area with paper towels.

Step 2) Fill your oil candle 3/4 full with Firefly Lamp Oil or just add the dye to the bottle of fuel.

Step 3) Select your color. Over the paper towel coat the tip of the toothpick with a small amount of dye. You can always add more. If too much, simply wipe on the paper towel

Step 4) Dip the toothpick into the oil candle and shake to incorporate the dye. Continue to add color until you get the desired depth of color. If creating a secondary color, simply use another toothpick with a new color and dip into the oil candle.

Note: The toothpick method works great for coloring small amounts of fuel. It lets you easily control the depth of color. If you are coloring a 16-oz. or 32-oz. bottle, you'll probably want to use a full drop or more depending on the depth of color you prefer.

A Word of Caution – Accidents do happen. The dye will stain clothing, skin, countertops, etc. So here are some tips if you spill the dye. Tackle the stain immediately. Lacquer thinner will remove the stain from hard surfaces; petroleum jelly and coconut oil from the skin; and non-acetate nail polish remover or toothpaste on a nail brush for under the nails. Clothing? An oil-based stain remover should do it. Just be careful!

One more thing... This is lamp oil dye which colors the lamp oil. It will not color the flame.

Answer:	Firefly Lamp Oil Dye will mix with any petroleum-based fuel. Firefly Tiki Torch Fuel is clear and is available with citronella or eucalyptus to help deter the bugs. The addition of citronella or eucalyptus will add a slight tint.... just something to keep in mind when you're mixing colors.

Our Firefly Bliss is a hand-blown, round liquid oil candle is for indoor or outdoor use. It is a simplistically elegant and well made. We use several on our dining table at night. They maintain their beauty night after night and never change unlike messy wax candles. You can use them alone or in a lantern or candle holder. This Bliss glass candle is clear. The light green color is simply a reflection of the glass from under the oil candle.

Refilling is a snap with the included funnel. When pouring the fuel, always elevate the funnel above the neck so that it will not overflow.

The candle should be placed in a safe location. The wick holder sits securly in the neck of the candle. It does not screw in. This is unnecessary, as the manufacturer. The 2-inch bottom is flat and stable. Tipping the candle over, and we’ve done this, results in the flame extinguishing and some loss of fuel which is not dangerous! just a bit messy and easy to clean up.

Set the wick ever so slightly above the wick holder, just a numb. If you experience smoke, you’ve set the wick too high.

Answer:	These are beautiful candles and they burn forever -- much longer than a regular candle would burn. It's important to keep the wick trimmed very short.Can be difficult to light the first time, be patient. Wick needs to be just a nub, close to the top. And do not fill with parafin all the way to the top. You'll get the hang of it, and they really are beautiful.

If you do not like the wobble in the globe I would run down to the hardware store and buy a round edge 1 1\4" gasket to make up the space. Personally I find the globe to be acceptable in its design and accommodates most bottles.
Question:	Can you use olive or veggie oil with this? I know it is not the reccommended one above, but will it still work
Answer:	We recommend Firefly Paraffin Lamp Oil for its cleanin-burning and wicking properties. Vegetable oil is not a suitable substitute. I don't know if the wick could draw enough fuel to even burn.

Question:	I am having trouble getting my fiberglass wick to work in my homemade tiki torch made fro a wine bottle using clean cintronella oil. Suggestions
Answer:	I made the same thing with a wine bottle. Make sure the wick is completely soaked in the fuel and add enough fuel to make sure the wick is mostly in the fuel. From there make sure there is enough wick sticking out of the top of the bottle. I used a copper fitting for pipes to hold the wick in place so it was high enough. About a 1/4 inch or a hair more of the wick sticking out of the bottle. It should light.
Question:	How much fluid do you need for 60 torches? 1 gallon suffice? Last a night
Answer:	If you have 12 oz torches and you fill them to the top, one gallon would fill 10 torches with 8 oz left over.... 60 torches = 720 oz meaning you need 5.625 gallons (to fill 60 torches). Fill each one half full and you would need 3-gallons

The base oil for our tiki torches fuel is odorless and produces less smoke and soot as seen in the photos below. When you own high-quality tiki torches & lanterns, you need to use high-quality tiki fuel to burn in them. Our fuels are made to the highest possible standards because we use them in our own backyards with our own family, friends, and children.

CITRONELLA, EUCALYPTUS OR ADD YOUR OWN ESSENTIAL OILS.

Our torch fuel is available in three scents. Option #1 is the odorless, Pure Formula that lets you become the MASTER OF YOUR BACKYARD by adding your own essential oils to the fuel. Start with adding one ounce per gallon. Option #2 is the subtle fragrance of pure citronella oil – just a small amount is added to our odorless lamp oil to make our tiki torch fuel smell fresh and clean. Options #3 is the minty fragrance of Eucalyptus oil - again just a small amount is added to the odorless lamp oil.

When burning there will be little to no scent. Mother Nature is at work though.

TIPS For Using Our Fuels

To conserve fuel and reduce smoke/soot, here are some tips. Remove any residual fuel from the reservoir before filling with Firefly Fuel. NEVER MIX FUELS. Mixing fuels will change burning properties.

Use a clean wick. If the wick is contaminated with old fuel/water, it will not perform properly. In a pinch, if you only have one wick, you can... 1) Dry the wick as much as possible using a paper towel. 2) Soak the wick in Firefly Fuel until it is completely saturated. That's it.
