Answer:	If the bulbs are close to each other and in sight of each other, yes, they will cancel each other. I have a 2-bulb porch light with a decorative cover. I had to insert a cardboard partition between the two bulbs, so light from one would not reach the other. That worked, and now they both come on.

Answer:	Hi.....as far as I remember. there was not an option for cans. This unit is electric which is what I wanted. For me the cans are just an added concern for flames and odor as you stated. The fireplace is really really. nice. Real wood...not particle board. We love it and it not only looks great but it can bring up the temperature in the living room by at least five degrees. But may I suggest that if you purchase it ( if you do you won't be sorry) that you plug it in with a surge protector. in it's own outlet. I understand your concerns with a baby but this is safe....no odor...and only one part of the fireplace face is hot to the touch that is at the top of the glass where the heat comes out. Remote has a lot of functions with or without the heat. This really is one of my favorite pieces in my home.

The middle section is about 37"....each of the side panels are around 18".The thing is...you can put a rather large tv on it but it will hang over the sides and might look pretty odd because you will have gaps on the sides since they sit lower than the center that is actually the fireplace itself. I didn't want that look ..that's why it's on the wall above.
