Answer:	The heater is designed to be installed in the wall 4" above the floor. It would not be recommended being installed in the floor.

Answer:	there are a couple tabs down on the bottom of the unit that hold that part in- seems to be solid

Answer:	This can be wired for several wattages during installation, including 250, 500, 750, 1000, 1250 and 1500 watts. Please see installation guide included with the heater for requirements.
Question:	How long do these typically last? i have an older dec2422 from 2009 that i may need to replace already
Answer:	I have five of these that I installed as part of room by room remodels starting in 1998-99, replacing old baseboard heaters. One is a 120v and the rest are this model. We vacuum them occasionally, and twice a year we pull the grills off and clean them more thoroughly. All but one are doing fine. The one that is starting to fail is in our main bathroom. We think it's failing due to all the moisture in there since we have three teens lined up every morning for hot showers. Even then, that one's lasted 14 or 15 years, and we're replacing it with another just like it as part of a larger remodel (along with better ventilation). All the other heaters are working fine, including the ones we bought in the late 90's. I'm happy with these heaters, and plan to stick with the King brand.

Answer:	You can install the supplied bracket with a single centered lag bolt. It is a very sturdy bracket, so no worries about one lag as long as you're in a ceiling joist. We put washers above and below and tightened the lag to the point where we can still swivel the heater.

Answer:	it will be a little on the small size. it will take to long to heat up ,all heat will build up in 15 ft ceiling . i have 2 car garage 8 ft ceiling fully insulated and on a o to 10 deg day it is at its max . for my use i really like it . very nice and well made . you may need a little more wattage . hope this helps

Choosing a space heater is a matter of sifting through a bewildering array of types, power ratings, and fuel sources. Let's break it down a little to make the process easier.

What are the different types of space heaters?

• Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the surrounding air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a radiant heater is quiet and will use very little power.
• Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or ceramic heating elements. A forced-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but can be noisy.
• Convection heaters draw cold air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but also can be noisy.
• Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the surrounding air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--perfect for bedrooms.

Answer:	It would depend what the amps/voltage of your current thermostat are. I would suggest purchasing with one of King's electric line voltage thermostats to get the full benefits of a ceramic baseboard heater. When combined with an electronic thermostat, you are able to feel comfortable at a lower thermostat setting which will help you save on your energy bill and enjoy reduced temperature swing.
Question:	Sorry one more question) - has anyone compared the 500w and 720w? Is the latter warmer? Thank you in advance
Answer:	The major difference is in the heating element. The ceramic heating element has a ceramic core. The core holds heat, slowing the on/off cycling of the unit. The more expensive unit is a bit more rugged in construction. Both will provide the same heat for the same wattage; both should last a long time. Generally the cheaper heaters are used in apartments and commercial construction where every penny counts.
Question:	Can this be installed beneathe a carpet directly on top of oak hardwood floors? My concern is damaging the oak floorboards
Answer:	You will need to install a thermostat (sold separately) to turn the unit on or off. The BKT1A/BKT1BW or BKT2A/BKT2BW are our baseboard thermostats which are designed to work with this model are offered in a single or double pole configuration and available in colors white and almond.

Answer:	It will work perfectly. It's designed for a scenario just like yours.

Answer:	720 watt has a larger surface area than 500 watt size thus more wiring to cover the mat. The warmth output and temperatures is the same for all 3 sizes.
Question:	Can this unit be installed in bathroom . Does the steam from shower damage the heater
Answer:	Would you have access to the control switch? You would need to have the anti slip pad to keep the Hot Carpet from sliding. The pads does offer some protection depending on the brand you get. I have had mine on Hard floor for years and I have not had any discoloration and have not had any complaints from other users . If your worried that it might warp the standard 3/4 inch oak floor boards that would not happen. Your other worry could be discoloration and if that's the case I would play if safe and not use the product

Answer:	I went and bought a Utilitech #0224879 timer from Lowes Home Improvement store 24 hour repeating cycle programmable in 30-minute interval for about $10.00.Programmed the timer for the desired on/off time set the current time, next I plugged the timer into the wall followed by plugging the mat cord into the timer. Make sure you leave the mat in the on position when you plug the mat into the timer.Waited for a while to see if the mat would turn off/on with the settings I decided on and it worked like a charm.Yes, the Hot Carpet will work fine using a timer!The Cord from the controller box to end of the plug is about 62 inches.
