3 best portable electric garage heater
A portable electric garage heater is a type of electric space heater specifically designed to provide supplemental heating in garages and workshops. Here's what you need to know about these heaters:
Heating Capacity: Portable electric garage heaters are typically more powerful than standard indoor space heaters. They are designed to heat larger areas and provide sufficient warmth in spacious garage environments.
Heating Elements: These heaters use electric heating elements, often made of ceramic or metal, to generate heat. When the heater is turned on, the heating element heats up and radiates warmth into the surrounding space.
Portability: As the name suggests, these heaters are portable and easy to move around. They often come with handles or wheels for convenient transportation.
Safety Features: Many portable electric garage heaters are equipped with safety features such as tip-over protection and overheating protection. These mechanisms automatically shut off the heater if it is accidentally knocked over or if it becomes too hot, reducing the risk of accidents and fires.
Thermostat Control: Some models include adjustable thermostats that allow you to set your desired temperature. Once the set temperature is reached, the heater will maintain it by cycling on and off as needed.
Fan-forced Heat: Many garage heaters incorporate a fan to help distribute heat more evenly throughout the space. This fan-forced heat ensures that warm air is pushed into all corners of the garage.
Mounting Options: Some portable garage heaters can be wall-mounted or ceiling-mounted, providing flexibility in placement and saving floor space.
Energy Efficiency: Electric garage heaters are generally considered energy-efficient because they convert almost all the electricity they consume into heat. However, using them in well-insulated spaces is key to optimizing energy efficiency.
Cord Length: Check the cord length of the heater to ensure it can reach an available electrical outlet in your garage without the need for extension cords, which can be a safety hazard.
Size and Coverage: The size and heating capacity of portable garage heaters can vary. It's important to choose a model that suits the size of your garage. Manufacturers often provide information about the square footage they can effectively heat.
Price Range: The cost of portable electric garage heaters can vary depending on their features and heating capacity. Basic models are affordable, while more powerful units with advanced features may be pricier.
Ventilation: Proper ventilation is crucial when using electric heaters in a garage to ensure the removal of combustion byproducts, such as moisture and carbon monoxide. Always follow safety guidelines and ensure adequate ventilation.
In summary, portable electric garage heaters are designed to provide efficient and effective heating in garage spaces, workshops, and other similar environments. They offer convenience, safety features, and versatility to help you maintain a comfortable working or storage space, especially during cold weather.

Answer: | It has an insulated cord with a plug but as I remember the plug was configured for a traditional dryer plug and I had a more traditional 220 plug for a welder or industrial equipment. Electric heaters generate warmth through a central heating element that is housed in a reflective enclosure that concentrates the energy produced. An element made of a combination of metals produces heat or infrared energy by the electrical resistance created when an electric current passes through it. Fan-forced heaters pass air over the heating element to expel heat from the enclosure for greater throw and circulation. Radiant heaters do not use a fan, but warm nearby objects through energy transfer. A heater’s voltage and wiring should be matched to the electrical circuit where it is to be used. Heaters are used in a range of commercial applications that include shop floors, construction sites, and industrial buildings. All local electrical codes should be followed when installing permanent mounted electric heating equipment.

User questions & answers
Question: | How much noise does this heater make on different settings? Can it be ran without the fan and thus no noise? But how noisy? be honest please |
Answer: | Low (600Watts) has no sound. intermediate and high have the same fan setting--not particularly noisy as heaters go. |
Question: | Can you hang this heater from the ceiling |
Answer: | I hate this unit. It does not live up to it's hype nor is it worth the $100 I spent. It would not warm a small room or a garage as purported in its listing. Not only would I not hang it from the ceiling... I WOULD NOT BUY IT. |
Question: | can this be used in a green house 10 by |
Answer: | The heater is not rated for outdoor use, so use in a green house is kind of a grey area. While a greenhouse is not normally exposed to rain and snow, moisture levels in a greenhouse could be an issue causing a potential risk for shorting and or shock. |
Question: | What country is this unit made? What is the shell; painted or metal |
Answer: | Its made in china, and the wiring connectors inside are not good quality. Inhave two and both needed disassembly and new crimp connectors after two years of light use. The case is good quality powder coated metal. It would be a good heater if they improved the connector quality. If they are the same quality as two years ago, I would choose and older model made in USA by markel called the heat- aire. The Chinese took over manufacture and made it cheaper. Check eBay for the USA Markel model. The markel is a superior heater. I have many in use at my office and they are probably 40 years old and work flawlessly. |
