12 best electric baseboard heaters
Electric baseboard heaters are heating devices commonly used in residential and commercial buildings to provide supplemental or primary heating in individual rooms or zones. They are a type of space heater that is designed to be mounted along the baseboard of a wall, near the floor. Here is some information about electric baseboard heaters:
Heating Element: Electric baseboard heaters consist of a heating element, usually made of metal, enclosed in a metal housing. When electricity flows through the heating element, it heats up, radiating warmth into the room.
Convective Heating: These heaters rely on convection to distribute heat. As the air near the baseboard heater is heated, it rises, creating a natural circulation of warm air throughout the room. Cool air then flows into the heater to be heated again.
Thermostat Control: Most electric baseboard heaters come with built-in thermostats or can be connected to a wall-mounted thermostat. Thermostats allow users to set the desired room temperature and maintain it by cycling the heater on and off as needed.
Zoning: Electric baseboard heaters are often used for zoned heating, where different rooms or areas of a building can be individually heated. This allows for energy savings by only heating occupied spaces.
Silent Operation: Electric baseboard heaters operate silently, making them a quiet heating solution compared to some other types of heaters, such as forced-air systems.
No Ductwork Required: Unlike central heating systems that rely on ductwork, electric baseboard heaters do not require any ducts or vents, making them a simpler and more cost-effective option for individual room heating.
Safety Features: Modern electric baseboard heaters are designed with safety features, such as automatic shut-off in case of overheating, to prevent fire hazards.
Energy Efficiency: The efficiency of electric baseboard heaters can vary depending on the design and insulation of the room. Proper insulation and sealing of windows and doors are essential to maximize their efficiency.
Installation: Installation of electric baseboard heaters typically involves mounting the unit to the wall and connecting it to an electrical circuit. It's essential to follow manufacturer instructions and local electrical codes during installation.
Maintenance: Electric baseboard heaters are relatively low-maintenance. Regular cleaning to remove dust and debris is recommended to ensure optimal heating efficiency.
Cost: The cost of operating electric baseboard heaters can vary depending on electricity rates in your area. While they are relatively affordable to install, they can be less energy-efficient than other heating methods in some cases.
In summary, electric baseboard heaters are a convenient and efficient way to provide localized heating in homes and buildings. They are particularly suitable for heating individual rooms and are known for their silent operation and ease of installation. However, their energy efficiency depends on proper insulation and usage, and they may not be the most cost-effective heating solution for larger spaces.

User questions & answers
Question: | Dual Wattage, does that mean it can be hard wired |
Answer: | No, this unit was not designed to be hard wired. It has a suitable electrical cord with a plug on it, intended to be plugged into a 20 amp wall outlet. Dual wattage means it has a high and a low heat output, which is controlled by a switch that comes on the unit. |
Question: | Is there any sort of safety screen for this? I'd be concerned about small things falling into it, or children pushing small toys into it |
Answer: | There is no safety screen at all on this heater. You may be able to attach a heat resistant mesh on the outside of the heater for little hands/small things not to find their way into the heater. The heating element does sit way back and inferiorly on the heater but without the screen it is pretty easy for curious hands to find their way into it. Hope this helps. |
Question: | Is this on oil filled heater |
Answer: | No. It's a convection resistor with fins. |
Question: | I just purchased and set up and indeed the smell is awful. For those who stuck it out, how long until the smell dissipates |
Answer: | It's been a while since I purchased mine, but I left it on for a couple of hours in my garage before I started using it, and there's no smell at all when I use it now. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Multiple packs prices are incorrect: 1pk- $166.00, 2pk- $644.00, 3pk-$996.00, 4pk- $1,328.00, 5pk- $260.82. can I buy the 5pk for |
Answer: | We're all customers like you. Best if you talk directly to the manufacturer or Amazon for pricing questions. |
Question: | do these need to be installed by an electrician? or do they just plug in |
Answer: | Electrician. In all loving kindness, if you don't understand that this is a 220-240 volt appliance and not the 110-120 volt appliance, then you wouldn't have the expertise to install this yourself. 110-120 volt circuits are what you normally plug your toaster, computer, TV, hair dryer, etc. into, that is, your standard wall plug. 220-240 volt plugs use heavy duty wires and plugs and are used for clothes dryers and kitchen stove/range/ovens. Usually water heaters and baseboard heaters are "hard-wired", that is, bypassing any plug-in and being permanently wired into the 220-240 circuit. You must also have a 220-240 volt circuit breaker in your electrical service box and a 220-240 volt circuit wired to the room you wish to have your heater installed - unless you are replacing a previous 220-240 volt heater. Putting in that type of circuit, stringing the wire from your service box to the room, would be a major task and expense, and require a permit from the local building authority as well as a certified electrician to do the work. |
Question: | how long is this heater |
Answer: | the heater is 116.cm, 46 inches or real close to 4 feet long |
Question: | Is this a left or right wire |
Answer: | Left wire install was seamless. I can't remember if it had a right side option. |
Question: | Can i wire 2 or 3 of them together an what size breaker |
Answer: | I have 3 of them hooked together. An 8', 4' and 2' one. They are on a 20 amp breaker. Always check with an electrician. |
Question: | Does this require a single pole or double pole t-stat |
Answer: | Double pole 20 AMP breaker and buy a thermostat individually that mounts to either end or wall thermostat? |
Question: | Anyone aware of the energy efficiency of this heater |
Answer: | This is just a standard 1000W baseboard heater there is no efficiency about it. You need a thermostat To control this unit either a wall or unit mount. And the heater will run until it reaches the temp you want. |
Question: | getting this for a 4 season porch. I need a separate thermostat. Will this work with the Nest thermostat |
Answer: | No, Nest thermostats don’t operate at “line” voltage(220volts). They operate at much lower voltage and cannot control resistance baseboard type heaters. I’ve been looking for such a smart “line” voltage thermostat and so far haven’t been able to find one. |
- POWERFUL PERFORMANCE: This 1500 Watt convection baseboard heater is recommended for medium-sized rooms and includes 2 heat settings and an adjustable thermostat for easy temperature control.
- ADVANCED SAFETY: Features an advanced safety system that includes a safety tip-over switch, stay-cool body and overheat protection sensor.
- SILENT OPERATION: This electric baseboard heater operates quietly to ensure that room occupants aren't disturbed. Keep your TV or music at a reasonable level and enjoy normal conversation without distracting noise.
- DENT-PROOF ENDS: The end panels on this stylish, low-profile convection baseboard heater are dent-proof, so it won't start to look beat up as it's used year over year.
- SAVE MONEY: This electric baseboard heater allows you to heat the room you're in rather than turning up heat throughout the house, helping to keep home heating costs down.
User questions & answers
Question: | Are the controls digital or manual |
Answer: | Control is manual knob and on/off switch. |
Question: | I'm looking to keep a cabin bathroom above freezing while I'm away. What's the lowest temperature this unit can be set to |
Answer: | I don't remember the exact lowest temperature, but I used mine for something similar with my bathroom (I keep the door closed to keep my pets out of it, and as a result it gets cold, so having it in there kept it warm). |
Question: | Does it rattle when cycling on or off? Thank you |
Answer: | This does not rattle. |
Question: | Does this just plug in to a socket |
Answer: | Yes it plugs into a regular socket |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have to be hardwired |
Answer: | I'm not sure if I've misunderstood the question or not but it needs power either way. If your asking can it be setup to plug into an outlet I'd highly advise against it. These are stationary baseboard heaters that should be run directly to a breaker box preferably on its own circuit and with proper guage wire. |
