8 best wood furnaces
Wood furnaces are heating appliances that burn wood as a fuel source to generate heat for residential or commercial spaces. These furnaces have been used for centuries to provide warmth during cold weather and are still popular in many areas. Here are some key points to know about wood furnaces:
Fuel Source: Wood furnaces, as the name suggests, primarily use wood as their fuel source. They can burn various types of wood, including logs, wood pellets, and wood chips. Some advanced models can also burn other biomass fuels.
Heating Method: Wood furnaces operate by combusting wood in a firebox, which produces heat. This heat is then distributed throughout the building via a system of ducts, fans, or radiators. They can be used for space heating or as central heating systems for an entire home.
Efficiency: The efficiency of wood furnaces can vary depending on the design and technology used. Modern wood furnaces are designed to be highly efficient, with some models achieving efficiency ratings of over 90%. This means that they can convert a significant portion of the wood's energy into usable heat, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
Emissions: Emissions from wood furnaces can be a concern, especially in areas with strict air quality regulations. However, many modern wood furnaces are equipped with advanced combustion technology and emission control systems to minimize the release of pollutants into the atmosphere.
Installation: Installing a wood furnace typically involves connecting it to the existing ductwork or hydronic heating system in your home. Proper installation is crucial for safety and efficiency, and it's often recommended to have a professional handle the installation.
Maintenance: Like any heating appliance, wood furnaces require regular maintenance to operate efficiently and safely. This includes cleaning the firebox, inspecting and cleaning the chimney, and ensuring that all components are in good working condition.
Cost: The cost of a wood furnace can vary widely depending on the size, type, and features of the unit. In addition to the initial purchase price, you'll need to consider the cost of fuel (wood) and ongoing maintenance expenses.
Environmental Considerations: Wood is considered a renewable energy source, but sustainable harvesting practices are essential to maintain its environmental benefits. Additionally, the use of wood as a fuel source can be carbon-neutral if the carbon released during combustion is offset by the carbon absorbed by new trees as they grow.
Safety: Safety is paramount when using a wood furnace. Proper installation, regular maintenance, and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to prevent fires, carbon monoxide leaks, and other hazards.
Wood furnaces can be an efficient and cost-effective way to heat your home, especially in areas where wood is readily available. However, it's essential to choose the right model, install it correctly, and use it responsibly to ensure both safety and efficiency.

- Made in China
- Package height :34.544 cm
- Package length :8.128 cm
- Package width :8.89 cm
User questions & answers
Question: | Will this work on a HotBlast us stove model |
Answer: | It sure does look similar to the one I see depicted in a search. Here's the nut of it: the Honeywell device, like any control device, measures its physical surroundings in some way to produce a piece of information used to affect a change of state in another system. In this case, a helical compound bar increases its length on one layer to push a lever which turns a dial to close a switch, turning on a fan. It ought to work, but, one would need to be confident with the electrical schematic included, and familiar with the internal workings. It might be that a different size of compound bar reads its surroundings differently given its specific surface area. This may have some effect on how the threshold dials are set. Proceed with informed caution, but the two devices appear to achieve the same general function. This design appears to have been manufactured for several decades, and has the character of a successful generic. |
Question: | Will this item l4064b2236 replace my switch l4064b |
Answer: | Yes, these switches are compatible. |
Question: | Will this replace ac-1339 on mt englander wood furnace |
Answer: | I truly do NOT know the answer related to your furnace. I would check with your manufacturer. We needed this part as related to our gas furnace. Good luck @ |
Question: | SHOW proper settings |
Answer: | there are 2 setting bars and 3rd preset bar which is at 200. 1st bar I set mine at 70. for cool down 2nd bar set at 115.for fan start up.. you can set yours different if you like ,but when you set the bars use your finger to hold the dial from moving while you move the bars so you don't stetch the heating cold spring. |
Question: | Would this be a to be used for a spray paint booth ventilation system |
Answer: | Absolutely. I use my blower to pull micro-organic matter burned out during my kiln firings. |
Question: | will this fit a E-classic 3250 boiler |
Answer: | I’m not sure |
Question: | Does this dayton 1tdp7 psc blower have sealed ball bearings or bushing which must be oiled occasionally |
Answer: | They are sealed |
Question: | Single speed |
Answer: | Yes |

Furnace Flue Exhaust Blower 0.8 amps, 115 volt Flange 2.25" x 2.25" With Variable Speed Control 1 Year Manufacture Warranty
- Heritage & Nordica Diamond Wall Furnace Blower
- Newmac Wood Furnace 2040001
User questions & answers
Question: | The part number on my original fan is 7017011. Is this equivalent |
Answer: | I have a Newmac 150,000 BTU oil/wood hot air furnace and replaced my blower with the one I thought I bought on Ebay which might have been a secretly Amazon offering. I much prefer the new blower as it has a rheostat for fan speed which will hopefully cut down on creosote since it CAN run faster. I've been having increasing buildup last few years so added to my change to dry wood instead of wood cut the previous winter and late Spring I'm hoping to get rid of this problem. I think the original rattletrap blower had been going for some time-so much for lifetime bearings! |
Question: | What is cfm,&what is max rpms |
Answer: | The blower is rated at 100 CFM, 1/65hp, .7 amps |
Question: | how far apart are the mounting holes, and what is the diameter of the opening, finally how loud is it |
Answer: | The holes are 2 1/2 in apart. My old fan was 3. I took the mount face of the old one, and mounted the new one to it with metal screws. The fan works perfect, and isn't to noisy. Saved me a lot of money over buying a replacement from a fireplace store. I have a older Blaze Queen. |

Answer: | They are 1/8" thick. With the proper tool, they can be cut. |
Question: | Note states not for ceiling vents. Could you please explain why it could not be used on a ceiling vent |
Answer: | IDK, I use mine on a wall vent. But it sticks very well so I imagine it could work for a ceiling vent. |
Question: | Has anyone had success using these on a ceiling vent? Why can’t these be used on ceiling vents? If they’re extra strong I can’t see why not |
Answer: | Only use them on floor vents but magnets seem to be strong, will try on top vent and see if hold....did not hold on my top vents |
Question: | Is the magnet strong enough to work on wall registers |
Answer: | No this is strictly for floor vents. The weight of the extra magnetic material is to much to hold in place on the wall |

Also for small woodstove repairs.
- Great cement for small repairs or big rebuilds, easy to use and clean up
- Smooth consistency cement bonds and seals metal to metal or metal to masonry joints
- Repair stove cracks and seals, reset firebrick, attach your stove collar, glue ceramic logs
- Rated to withstand up to 2000° F (1090° C)
User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used with Ceramic or Porcelin tiles to surround a wood burning stove |
Answer: | If you are speaking of a "wall surround" behind the stove, I would say no. I would use the typical cement that is designed for ceramic tile installation. This furnace cement is a product designed to be used on the stove itself or on stovepipes. It is fast drying as well. I would not use it on your surround. |
Question: | Is this rated for exterior use or interior only |
Answer: | I believe it is for interior use only. |
Question: | Can this be used to glue soft insulating firebricks together? Like for a mini forge |
Answer: | Just my opinion, but I think it would be ideal. The furnace cement I bought was used to bond the stovepipe metal to the stove and the masonry chimney, and it worked well. Instructions on the jar indicated the masonry needs to be damp for proper adherence and then allowed to dry for a day or so before use. Get the gray cement if your bricks are gray, if possible, becaust the black gets EVERYWHERE. |

Answer: | As long as you can properly perform a heat=cure in that area, then yes you can use this to seal the ash dump. If you are unable to reach the temperatures necessary to heat-cure this product (500-degrees F) then your best bet would be to use one of our High Temp RTV Silicone Sealants to seal around that area. |
Question: | Can I use this on a gasket for my Harman pellet stove |
Answer: | Yes, if a heat cure is performed. |
Question: | I have a fire pit and this says for use on metal surfaces but will it hold bricks together |
Answer: | I don't know. I used it on metal and so far so good. |

Answer: | We do not recommend using this product to repair a crack in a Big Green Egg as this is designed for metal-to-metal or metal-to-masonry applications. You can use Rutland Products Castable Refractory Cement to make repairs to the cracks, once allowed to dry for 24 hours, this Castable Refractory Cement can be exposed to temperatures up to 2,200-degrees F. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit Norseman |
Answer: | It may depend on the age of the stove. Is it older than 2012? |
Question: | Will this fit the 1537g |
Answer: | U have to get your part number from your book,or the manufacturer, but yes it is for a US STOVE |
Question: | How many do i need |
Answer: | If this is the grate you need then the answer is two. Double check the owners booklet for your model number if you have two shaker grates then you will need two frames if replacing both. They seem to last longer if you reverse their position each year move front to back and back to front the fire is hotter near the air intake and that one seems to warp quicker. I have had my stove 12years and this is the first time I have replaced the frames the grates do not last as long. |
Question: | What are the dimensions of the frame |
Answer: | The outside measures 13 1/4" long, 9 1/2" wide and 1 7/8" deep. The grate opening is 5 3/4" by 11". |
