Answer:	It does have a thermostat that you set and there is only one level to the flame. We have had this since March and we love it. It doesn't need the blower it warms our whole house at over 1300 square feet.

Answer:	Yes, but with any secondary heater it should not be left unattended.

Answer:	There are no glass doors. They are metal screen type doors. You will receive the fireplace insert with the logs, and the mantel. Anything else would be purchased separate.

Question:	Can the flame feature be turned off for use at night in a bedroom (so the room stays dark
Answer:	Yes, the moving flame feature can be turned off. The logs maintain a very slight glow, that does not disrupt sleep if you wake up in the middle of the night. It's awesome.
Question:	What kind of functionality does the remote have? Does it have a timer to turn on
Answer:	The remote has four function buttons: power; flame setting; temperature; timer. The flame height can be adjusted from 1 to 5; level 1 is lighted embers, level 1 is a low flame, etc. The temperature can be set in increments of 2 degress from 62F to 82F. The remote will allow you to see what the temperature is set at, but you have to adjust it manually from the control panel. The timer can be set to turn the unit off, but not on. It starts at 30 minutes and increases in hourly intervals from 1 hour to 9 hours. Unlike the temperature, the timer can be set with the remote. Your local hardware store might have a timer you could attach to it to turn it on automatically. I don't know that for a fact, but I don't see why it wouldn't operate similarly to any other electrical appliance that can be used with a timer.
Question:	How much does it cost per hour to run
Answer:	It's a very good and responsible question, and yes, there is a way to answer it. It requires you check your electric bill and so some math, but you really only have to do this once. You're going to calculate how much you pay per kilowatt hour (kWh) which really is just how much it costs to run any electrical item in your home for each 1,000 watts. STEP 1: Find your most recent electric bill, look for any charges that are based on killowatt hours (kWh). For example... I live in NYC, and my probably outrageous bill had (Supply @9.1811 cents per kWh) + (Delivery @12.0324 cents per kWh) + (Clean Energy Benefit @ 0.6811 per kWh). I also note that Sales Tax is 4.5% and write all these down. STEP 2: Add them all up then apply sales tax. So for my bill, I get (9.1811) + (12.0324) + (0.6811) = 21.8946 cents per kWh. To factor in the Sales Tax of 4.5%, I calculate (21.8946) * (1.045) = 22.87986 cents per kWh. I round this up to 23 cents to make it easy, so that means it costs me 23 cents per hour to run a 1,000 watt appliance. STEP 3: Multiply your hourly cost by this appliance's wattage. The details indicate this is heater is 120 Volts at 12.5 Amps. To calculate watts is just (volts) * (amps). So (120 volts) * (12.5 amps) = **1,500 watts**. NOTE: this is very typical for major appliances such as air conditioners, space heaters and even running a clothes iron. With that in hand, multiply the kWh cost from STEP 2 by the wattage of this heater. So for me, since it costs me 23 cents per kWh to run something, that means at 1,500 watts it would cost me (23 cents * 1.5) = 34.5 cents to run this heater every hour. Yes, I rounded up a bit earlier (my real cost is 34.31979), but I like to overestimate just a little to play it safe. STEP 4: Multiply your cost to run this hourly by how many hours you might run it. This is where it gets very controversial because I think most people do not understand their own energy costs or usage and get a shock (no pun intended) from their electric bill. Let's say I run this heater 6 hours per day in a 30 day month. That's 180 hours * 34.5 cents per kWh = $62.10 just to run this one heater. STEP 5: Think about how you're heating your home. Remember that 1,500 watts is VERY common for major appliances as noted above, and other smaller heaters might be around the same, or possibly 1,000 watts. Let's say you're a family with a space heater in each room to keep people warm. Let's imagine those space heaters were 1,000 watts each. That means at 3,000 watts, you'd be paying DOUBLE in electrical costs instead of just having the family huddle together near this large heater in the living room. Summary: Do some due diligence and check your electric bill charges per kWh, then check the wattage of each heating appliance and do some simple math according to many electrical appliances you are running to heat your home. This exercise seriously shouldn't take too long to do, and you can use this same method to understand what it costs for air conditioning in the summer, and even how much it costs to run giant flat screen TVs or computers. Though for those panels it's far less... my 55" flat screen TV runs at 250 watts max, and my computer about 300 watts with monitor, computer and max gaming settings. Heating and air conditioning are what crush your electric bill, so do this and you'll see how valuable it is to have one large machine doing heating/cooling for a large area rather than multiple individual ones. PS: I haven't even bought this yet, but I wanted to help educate the person who asked the question, because this is a VERY important thing that so many people don't do, and I don't like seeing people throw money away. IMO, this is a very good purchase just for saving on electrical costs.
Question:	is it noisy
Answer:	Yes the machine is noisy. When the heat is on there is a low drone which isn't bad and is to be expected. The noise from the heater isnt the problem. It's when the flames and heater are on but the heat kicks off bc the room is at the desired temperature. At this point the flames make a very loud and annoying sound. If you lower the flames to the lowest setting this noise too will go away.

Answer:	It would certainly work in an outdoor fireplace but the grate and burner pan are not Stainless Steel and if exposed to rain would eventually rust. If the fireplace opening has a cover and is well sheltered from the rain and provided the chimney has a cap it would be fine.

Question:	Pilot will not light tried all trouble shooting suggestions still won't work. Could it be a bad regulator? It is a new installation
Answer:	We had the same problem in the begining, my question is did you use the brass elbow that came with the fireplace, that pushed the blue stem in the back of it? If not that will be your problem, my husband used a regular gas fitting instead of the 90 brass fitting that came with the fireplace, and it wouldn't never start. I suggested us change that out and it lit imediately..

Answer:	I don’t know but I wouldn’t recommend purchasing this item. It’s not worth the time and money and their customer service is crap. I waited a lot of money on this
Question:	It says vent free. The burning of natural gas causes fumes (carbon monoxide) which must be extracted by means of venting, how then is it vent free
Answer:	Vented units burn more inefficiently, to produce the coloration and effects of a wood fire. Ventless units burn more efficiently, 99% or better, so they consume almost all of the gas. The excess that does escape, escapes back into the room. However, it's in such small amounts that it would take hours of continuous burning before it would be noticeable even to a CO2 detector (which will typically alert LONG before the levels are harmful to you). For this reason, it's against code for ventless units to be installed in sleeping areas and all cautions on the units state not to run the unit while sleeping unless you vent the room.

Answer:	Check the measurements but they are pieces of different sizes. I dont think any are over 18" but cant swear to it.

Leave 1.5 inches Gap

• Be sure to leave at least 1.5 inches between the logs and your gas orafices.
• Blocking these orafices is what causes incomplete gas combustion which can lead to odors, carbon buildup (Which then becomes soot), or other damage.

Answer:	By using the gas key left and right on the wall.
Question:	Can a remote be connected to this burner
Answer:	Remotes are more for milivolt gas fireplaces, and electronic igniting gas fire places. This is direct natural gas and has to be lit externally and manually.
Question:	Is this a half inch flex line
Answer:	I’m not entirely certain but it appears to be a 1/2 inch SAE threaded standard gas line fitting. I’m using this outside and very pleased with quality. good luck

When placed on top of existing mineral wool ember beds, the catalytic embers combust unburned fuel from the burner to provide a dynamically more realistic looking ember. In addition to creating a bright flickering appearance like that of real wood ember beds, these embers radiate broadband infrared heat thus creating a warmer fire and reducing the formation of soot on gas logs.



INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Platinum Embers work by combusting fugitive hydrocarbons from the burner catalytically which cause the embers to flow and fluoresce. Good combustion requires fuel and air so proper installation is key to the best aesthetic and efficiency improvements to the fireplace. Begin by lighting the fire after proper installation. Using a pair of long needle nose pliers or hemostats, take a single square of the Platinum Embers, gently pull it apart to expose more air to the internal parts of the ember and place at the base of the fire atop the existing mineral wool fibers, vermiculite, or sand. Once the ember reacts with the fuel and air, it will begin to glow providing a visual indication of how the product is intended to work. Place the remaining embers according to your preference taking care not to clump the material together. If starved for combustion air, the embers will fail to glow. Answer:	The little squares are about the size of a dime probably five six dimes High the bag that came in was like a sandwich bag in a way and one thing I bought these to rebuild hand-warmer heads I don't have a fireplace

Question:	Can this product be placed on the grate In the middle of the gas log set above the existing embers
Answer:	It should be placed on top of the existing embers, as it extends their natural look. Contact with the flame is needed for the product to work (glow.) For the best effect, gently pull apart the fibers, which will separate into thin, translucent square layers and then lay them on top of the existing embers. These fibers are very fine like dust, and may irritate the skin or eyes like fiberglass insulation can. Take proper care if you are working around any draft by making the air motionless or by wearing appropriate covering.
Question:	Do these last or do they burn off after certain time
Answer:	I'm sure they burn out after a certain time I actually bought these for another purpose to rebuild my hand warmer heads they are also made out of platinum catalyst so in the long run you're asking the wrong person I guess
