Answer:	Not at all, it’s long enough so not near fire while flipping logs. Unless you leave it in the fire for a very long period of time.

Answer:	Yes, it did come with the loop. It is removable. Perhaps some folks didn’t like the loop. We like it, it’s a nice sturdy set.
