User questions & answers
Question: | Any issues maintaining hot water for shaving your face |
Answer: | The small chimney can be removed |
Question: | Does anyone know what the recommended maintenance schedule is? Any insight would be appreciated |
Answer: | You don't have to put sand, however the direct heat on the base will definitely affect your paint. I put sand on the bottom and even with a relatively large fire and lots of coals, we could stick our feet under the unit for warmth (chilly night). I've heard of decks getting damaged from heat when researching to buy a fire pit so sand would also be a way to protect your deck, grass or whatever you place your fire pit on. |
Question: | Can this unit be converted to liquid propane |
Answer: | it did not wobble, I don't recall if there is a rim or not |
Question: | Is this the new version with remote display |
Answer: | Define large |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this thermocouple work with a nat.gas htr |
Answer: | Yes it does. The best part is that each log comes packaged in it's own cardboard box which you can use to start the fire. I don't even unbox the logs, I just soak them in bacon grease so the fire starts right up! |
Question: | Is this the same product as the pro-com tc thermocouple? appears to be but hard to be certain |
Answer: | I will be honest here, all of these comments are false. This rack only holds about a 1/4 of a cord of wood. I have been using these racks for a long time and I always purchase the same amount of wood which is 2 cords. This racks will only hold 1/4. I have 8 of these to hold all 2 cords. I see a lot of comments here stating that the dimensions of a cord of wood are 4 feet tall x 4 feet wide x 8 feet long, this IS CORRECT. The only thing that everyone seems to leave out are the dimensions of this rack which are as follows. The space to hold wood is 3 feet 8 inch high x 12 inches wide x 7 feet 10 inches long. These dimensions are 1/4 of 4x4x8. I hope this helps everyone. This rack only holds 1/4 a cord. |
Question: | is this a Left-hand thread thermocouple |
Answer: | A door on the front opens and you place wood inside then close door. This prevents sparks from getting out. |

User questions & answers
Question: | if it has a thermostat, what temperature is it shutting off? I have a different fire place with a 73 degree shut off manufacturing setting, not enought |
Answer: | I asked the manufacturer for the thermostate info. It has a knob on top from 1-5. 1-60.8°f 2-75.2°f 3-89.6°f 4-104°f 5-118.4°f He also said that they could vary slightly from heater to heater. |
Question: | I don't see a pic or anything that shows where/how the fan mounts. Does anyone know |
Answer: | The fan will mount on the back of the heater. There is a punch out that will be removed and the fan will go in it's place. |
Question: | Would this heater work in a 2 car garage |
Answer: | In short yes. we have this on the first floor of our house. it is not yet winter, but this is a 30,000 BTU heater; it heats the entire house fast - like 20 mins upstairs and down. I would say the same for a two car garage. I plan on moving this unit to the basement shop which is exposed to ground level in the back and unheated; basically a 1 car garage back there and I expect this to out perform. I will add one thing: this is the blue flame unit. I have had shop heaters before and prefer the radiant heaters (of which Mr Heater makes one just like this) - they have the clay looking elements in them that glow red/orange; those heaters will heat things in the space and then those items give off the heat. I used to aim one at my roll away tool box. in an area where you might have a lot of space up above, such as a loft the radiant version of this heater may be better as it will heat the items it is near with less heated air floating up. either way, this is a safe bet. |
Question: | Does the mhvfb30ngt unit have an automatic igniter to maintain temperature or do you to to push an igniter switch to start it each time |
Answer: | It has a pilot lit that will stay lit at all times, unless you turn the dial to the Off position. The heater will start up when the thermostat dial settings determines that it's time to turn the heater on. |
Question: | I stripped the threads on the heater, how can i fix this |
Answer: | You can tap it out if you have a tap and die set, otherwise you will have to order new parts |
Question: | Want 30000 Btu radiant heater with blower |
Answer: | The 30000 BTU heater will be the model number MHVFRD30LPT. Click on link provided to view the heater. https://www.amazon.com/Mr-Heater-Corporation-Radiant-MHVFRD30LPT/dp/B01DPZ56KU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1514918538&sr=8-1&keywords=MHVFRD30LPT |
Question: | Will this work with a 20 pound tank |
Answer: | Yes, but you will need to add a regulator between the heater and the 20 pound tank for safety |
Question: | So, it has no thermostat but output is variable? How does this work |
Answer: | It does NOT have a thermostat, settings are either high or low. It will NOT turn on and off on it's own when reaching certain temperatures, it even says its NOT thermostat controlled in the manual. |

Radiant Vent Free Heaters
Our Vent Free heaters need no external power, great for power outages and applications with no electricity. They can be mounted to the wall with the supplied bracket or on the floor with the supplied feet.
Most common uses are rooms that don’t warm well so you can adjust the temperature level in them without having to affect the rest of the home.
There are two types of vent free heaters, blue flame (or convection heat) and Infrared (or radiant heat). The difference in these types of heat are how the warm.
The Infrared heater warms objects. It doesn’t warm the air like a Blue Flame. It can be put in an area with objects which the heater will heat and then the object will heat the air. Blue Flame warms the air, infrared warms objects, which heat the air.
Note: Units cannot be converted from Propane to Natural Gas and vice versa. They are not designed to be a primary source of heat, as they are designed to work with a furnace.

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm looking to put a natural gas heater in my bathroom so which one could I put in it |
Answer: | I'm not sure what you mean by which one. This one as best I can remember came with feet, but is very on the back and sides and could be wall mounted. Unless you have a very large bathroom or no other heat in your house this heater would be very adequate. I love mine. |
Question: | Can this be used in an rv |
Answer: | It would be dangerous to run this in such a confined space. I live in a large old drafty house and the heater is in a room 16x16 foot room that has 14 foot ceiling. Get a heater designed for and RV. Ideally electric to reduce risk of asphixiation.... |
Question: | Can it be connected to an exhaust vent for the gasses |
Answer: | It has no exhaust port. It's made to be safe (like a gas oven) not having a vent. I use my to pretty much heat my whole little house and have never noticed a problem. Many gas fireplaces are made the same way. |
Question: | does anyone know if there is an optional blower for this unit |
Answer: | No. On't the 20k and 30k btu versions can use the optional blower. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this be converted to natural gas |
Answer: | China where else they own us |
Question: | Can you use a high pressure hose with this |
Answer: | I have the rack that you use 2x4s to make any length that you want. With this kind of rack I have racks that are 8' 9' and 10'. These kind of racks hold a lot of wood some as high as 5' high. I like the convience of making a rack to what ever size I want. |
Question: | Does this unit contain a room blower to move the radiated heat |
Answer: | I have my wood rack filled just like the one in the photo. The tubes are heavy duty about 1" outside diameter. I would have to cut one to see how thick they are inside, but they do not bend or flex when handled. I am happy with mine. It works as advertised. |
Question: | Does it use a battery-powered starter or peizoelectric click-starter |
Answer: | I got this last month and it did not have a cover. There's another version of this on Amazon for $10 more that does include a cover. |
