Answer:	It has four filters in the bottom of the unit. They do look like “wicks” I don’t see a separate wick of any other kind.

Answer:	There should be 4 tabs on each lower housing (the housing that hold the filters), and there should also be 4 corresponding slots on each top filter housing. The lower housing should have two tabs sticking straight up in the front, and two tabs sticking horizontally out the back. The two tabs in the back are just flat tabs, and they are supposed to just slide into the two slots in the back of the top housing. The two front tabs on the lower housing are shaped such that they will "snap" into the two slots in the front of the top housing. The tabs on the back of the lower housing are used to align the top housing with the lower housing, and to help keep it in place. Check to see if the lower housings on your unit have the tabs in the back, and if the top housings have the slots for them.
Question:	Where do you get the filters
Answer:	No. You'll need 1/4" copper tubing, 6" duct tubing to go from supply side of humidifier to the return air duct, a suitable 6" circular duct to fasten to the hole you'll make in the return air duct, bell wire to run from controller to voltage reduction transformer. Do yourself a favor and get a roll of foil tape for taping up seams and leaks.
Question:	Are the wick and filter the same thing
Answer:	Works quite well in my 2300 sf house. Was built in '92 so not too old but still not as sealed up tight like recent construction. From what I have observed, the humidifier doesn't run all the time and humidity levels have stayed constant even with fluctuating outside temps.

Answer:	Yes, it can be changed from left to right. Basically turn the main part of the unit upside down and switch the drain and plug from top to bottom. The name plaque can be removed and installed right side up. Quite simple design.
Question:	The top of the filter housing on mine only connects on the two front tabs. The back of the housing just sits on top of filter. Is this correct
Answer:	I don't mean to say the same thing over again, Patrick said the same thing I'm going to say, but a new pad is all you will need in this unit. I'm also a hvac technican and April air 600ms are our humidifier of choice. I've seen some people who have such bad water the pad gets clogged mid winter, and I've also seen people who have bad water and have been using the same pad for years. rule of thumb to get the most out of your unit is to change the pad every year. You could get away with longer but why would you when you can get replacement pads for cheap at home depot. To install you will need 2 6" 90's, 6" flex duct, 1" zip screws, 2 wire, 3/4 inch pvc with fittings and glue, small piece of 1/2" vinyl tubing (optional), and a pair of tin snips. I would suggest hiring a professional unless you're an avid do it yourself type of person, but it's defiantly something a average homeowner COULD do with enough time and YouTube videos. As far as the solenoid, it almost never goes bad, like Patrick said they usually last around 10 years. I've seen some go bad in as little as 2 but those are 1 in 100 and factory defected. I hope this helps someone down the line.

Answer:	I can attest to the fact that these wicks are not the of the same quality as formerly. I have used my Vornado 40 for many years, and the last 2 orders have proved disappointing. I changed a fairly new pair last night, and the new ones got the humidity up to only 35 per cent and had already begun turning brown. This is with reverse osmosis water and a bacteria control. Formerly the wicks would last several months.

Question:	Does this have an automatic turn off
Answer:	No, it doesn't turn off automatically as such -- the fan stays on as long as the unit is on. But the humidity control is automatic. For example, if you leave it at 40% the fan will run with humid air coming out the top until the relative humidity reaches 40%, then the humid air will stop coming out but the fan will remain on until the sensor determines that moist air should come on again.
Question:	Does this emit cool mist or is it evaporative
Answer:	This model emits a cool mist, which collects on mirrors, tvs, etc. Vornado has a model which is evaporative. I recently traded this model in for the evaporative model.
Question:	Haw does the unit hold up with tap water or filtered water
Answer:	I use it with filtered water, but I don't see a problem using it with tap water since it has a big filter inside the tank. I do not get any of the white powder that usually comes with ultrasonic humidifiers.
Question:	Does this work without the mineral cartridge? If not, how often does the mineral cartridge need to be replaced
Answer:	Yes, it works without the cartridge, but I did notice that there was more mineral "dust" than with the cartridge. I use my Vornado 24/7 and as of today, am still using the same mineral cartridge after a bit over a month. I did order replacements, but am going to hold off on using them until I notice the mineral "dust" again. Then I think its time for a new cartridge. Hoping to get about 6 weeks out of a cartridge. Definitely the best humidifier I have used.

Answer:	My hair is shorter than shoulder length, but as the instructions and I think the video shows, you put your hair into a pony tail first, and then pull up the pony above your neck and tuck it under. Then put the cap on from the bottom back first and it will definitely fit all your hair inside. it is very roomy and has that added space at the bottom back, so I can't imagine it won't fit your pony inside of it. good luck.

Question:	which filter does it use? MD1-002 or MD
Answer:	The EV100 uses the MD1-0034 Filter Wicks. The MD1-0002 Filter Wicks are too thick.
Question:	Is this a cool mist
Answer:	Humidifiers are designed to be filled with cool water and then the water evaporates as it is released. There will be no cool mist that you will see coming from this unit.
Question:	Can you use tap water
Answer:	You can use tap water but the filters will last longer with distilled or reverse osmosis water. Minerals from the tap water will be trapped in the filter and eventually prevent the filter from absorbing any water. The filter would then need to be changed. Under normal conditions a filter wick will last 4 to 8 weeks. You would need to compare the extended useful life of the filter wick using distilled or reverse osmosis water with the cost of the water compared to the price of the filter wicks.
Question:	If only using this at night and with distilled water only, does it need to be emptied and dried out every day
Answer:	If it is not running during the day and the wicks are sitting wet with no air flowing through them, you have a potential for bacterial growth. I would run it all the time. The fan running with the unit is out of water will not harm the humidifier and drying out the filter wicks will help prevent bacterial growth and will not harm the filter wicks.

Question:	Can it be run with a bit of citric acid in it to clean it
Answer:	Mine shipped with a pack of citric acid "cleaning crystals" so I've been using citric acid sold for canning. That's worked well to remove precipitated minerals from the heating element in my case.

Answer:	The auto mode is active when lit.
Question:	What does new version mean? is this updated over the version that all the previous reviews are for
Answer:	Yes, It is in regards to a fix to the water tank sensor.

Answer:	It does eventually, but not after running long enough to dry out the element and bake any developed scale onto it. This will lead to element failure over time.

Answer:	The Element A is rated for a larger area (1000 sq ft) and higher output (4 gal/day) than the Ultra 3 (600 sq. ft) and (2 gal/day).
Question:	Is it possible to control humidity level? What is the lowest possible to set
Answer:	The humidity level can be set from 30% to 70% or the humidifier can be run continuously.
Question:	Does this unit have a wick that needs periodic replacement
Answer:	No, there is no wick that needs replacing but you will need to clean off mineral deposits once a week or so.
Question:	How long is the heat setting suppose to last for? Ours last for about 5 minutes then over heats, giving me the A2 message. Is this normal
