I don't think it was the actual filter change that helped, but more the fact that I pushed the new filter up higher into the container and it left no space for water to pool at the top. | Answer: | Mine did this too, but I figured out how to fix the issue. If your bottle is too full the weight of the water will push through the wick. When it pools around the opening the steam cannot escape and you have the sputtering, or nothing at all. The other thing I did was make sure the wick is all the way up to the top of it's tube. I believe the way it is supposed to work is the little tabs on the inside of the tube cap hold the wick in place. That did not work well. So, I added a little bit of toilet paper rolled up into a ball. Now, the system works great. One other thing that could help you. Some water bottles use thicker plastic than others. The thicker ones work better. I believe this is because as water goes out, air is suppose to flow into the bottle. If the bottle deforms easily the air doesn't go in. The thicker bottle holds the pressure better and I occasionally see an air bubble pop to the surface. I really like this product once I worked through the issues. I have a travel CPAP machine with no humidifier. I point the steam jet toward it and it does help quite a bit. Although in all honestly not quite as well as my bigger unit that has one built in. For travel the combination works pretty well and is only half the size and weight I used to travel with. I highly recommend it or something similar. |
