Answer:	I (carelessly) bought the VU551 in July 2018; it does not have a timer. There is a newer model -- same price -- and it does appear to have a timer.
Question:	Can you remove the front grid easily to clean the blades
Answer:	I say NO, and that is why I am even looking at this page. I bought mine in Aug, 2016. It does have the screw at the bottom, which allows you to slide down a clip. The problem lies in the plastic trim ring that goes around the whole edge of grille. It essentially locks in and seals the front and back grilles together. It does not give much leeway. I just spent 20 minutes trying to separate it- pop one grille out or just slide the trim ring off to either side. I tried it with two screwdrivers. Didn't work and I was afraid of busting the rim. Perhaps some of these other people who had it "easy" had a slightly different model/year. If you put this fan in any room with any humidity (maybe that's WHY you bought it in the first place??) then you ARE gonna have a rusted grille. Have fun getting metal dust in the air when you take that brush to clean the grille.

Answer:	Specs say 70 Watt on Low. "I think" 120-150W on High. This is not abnormally high for 110V fans that move that much air. If you're worried about energy savings, get Endless Breeze box fan - it's 12V, draws 13W on Low, 45W on High, moves same amount of air, but it's louder and you will need DC power supply.

Answer:	The base of this fan is it's weakest link. The base is plastic and round, and is approx. one foot in diameter. In fact, every surface on this entire fan is plastic, except the wire cage around the fan blades. Nothing to attach to for jerry-rigging. It's adequate for what it is designed for, and that's for sitting on a horizontal surface. You'd need a shelf to support this fan off of a wall.
Question:	Does this recline both forward and from side to side if needed
Answer:	The fan can be pointed upward or downward within some reasonable range. It is also an oscillating fan, and when this feature is engaged it sweeps left and right over an angle that is typical for oscillating fans.

Answer:	Unlike most fans in which the blade guard just snaps on, this fan has snap on and screw on fastening. So removing the fan guard is easy, but not as easy as some other fans. And yeah, cleaning fans regularly is important, otherwise they don't move air.

Answer:	I have had mine for years. I vacuum the 3 white filters every week when I vacuum. I write the date on them when I put in new ones. I am changing mine today but the last time I did was back in Dec. of 2019. Real good appliance. No problems with mine and am going to order another one for the back of my house where my dogs and I have allergies. The pre filter I change every week. I actually hose it down every week and let it dry. You won't be disappointed in this air purifier.

Answer:	It is a sponge that you can put any liquid of perfume on and you put the sponge on the back where there a round circle and the air flow the aroma

Answer:	I didn’t even realize it would run with only 1 battery installed but I just tried it and it does. So obviously I wouldn’t know if it would last longer with two for certain, but I would certainly think so.

Question:	To what angle can the fan angle be tilted up towards the ceiling? (eg, 90 degrees is straight up
Answer:	yea, it can in fact be pointed straight up 90 degrees. By that logic, it's full rotation would be from -20 degrees (where 0 is pointing straight ahead) to 20 degrees past 90 (70 degrees on the other side of 90). So to be super clear, it can be pointed slightly down toward the ground and then rotated a full 180 degrees upwards, which puts it a little past 90. Hopefully that makes sense.
Question:	I bought this fan because one reviewer said it had no power brick, and in the question section, it said no brick. Mine came with a brick. What gives
Answer:	The pedestal models (such as this one) have a power brick. The smaller tabletop models such as the 533DC do not have a power brick.
Question:	How many watts
Answer:	At full chooch 40 watts, on lowest setting 1 watt. This is measured with a Killawatt meter. However, the lowest setting is almost pointless, it's more like a "look how slow we can go with PWM!" setting. Set to the lowest usable setting it pulled 4 watts from the wall. For comparison my old Model 180 Compact is also a 7" fan and pulls 87 watts on high and 27 on low, although low on the Model 180 is substantially more airflow than the 530. For my scenario where I use the fan for sleeping it would take roughly 8 years for the 530 to 'pay for itself in electricity savings' verses keeping the 180, and the 180 is a MUCH better fan.
Question:	If the power goes out will the fan come back on by itself when the power is restored? (I want to use it with a smart outlet
Answer:	I am sorry I don't know the answer. I only use the fan at night to avoid head sweats. Fortunately, there have not been any power-outs at night.
