Answer:	It took me some time to find the wavelength required to cure the adhesive. This flashlight emits UV at 395 nM which should work. I found one reference to the required wavelength to cure UV bonding agents (385 nM - 405 nM). The flashlight emits bright UV light when the batteries are fully charged but the time needed to cure the bondic is so quick that you should be fine. Some other purchasers of this flashlight do recommend having UV glasses on when using this light for long period. Sometimes to error on the side of caution is best. Answer:	On "The Doctor's" TV show, the GYN/OB doctor was emphatic that despite the fact that washing your underwear (male & female) in very hot water is the only safe way to wash them. I am a washing guru and got sick of the elastic dying in all of our expensive briefs and panties, I looked for a better way to get them clean without destroying them. I already knew that Oxi-clean pre-wash was the very best pre-wash for areas that have any residue left by a human. The peroxide in the Oxi-clean may not remove old stains in cotton briefs, but it kills the germs and the product that was left on the clothes. That includes the residue left by all adults in their underwear, blood, perspiration and I am certain any "nasty" material. FYI, if the item is white, spraying extra 100% peroxide will strengthen the pre-wash. I won't explain how I did the various tests, but using a black light showed any "discharges", stool racing strips in young boy's briefs, and blood stains, so that I knew exactly where to spray each item. After washing in warm water, the black light showed that the residues I found before washing and using the pre-wash were gone. Keep in mind however, that there are a lot of other things that "glow" on clothes. Certain clothes detergents leave tiny white spots on some clothes, and I have found numerous other things can leave glowing spots, but it is easy to tell the difference between the odd item glowing and the "nasties" that you would be looking for. Some Housekeeping Supervisors use black lights to check sheets in a room that has "supposedly" been cleaned. It is an easy way to see if the top sheet has simply been switched and placed as the bottom sheet, and a new one is placed on top. I will always bring my black light with me to hotels or timeshares. Answer:	I don't know why some of the others are saying it doesn't show dog urine stains on carpet. It does. Keep in mind that if you are simply looking in a house that has light coming in from windows - even if your lights in the house are off, it won't be dark enough. Unless you can block all light, wait until nighttime, close your blinds / curtains to block street lights and such, turn off all lights in the area to get it as dark as possible and turn it on. There were obvious dog pee stains in areas that I wasn't aware of before, urine stains in the bathroom that I thought was clean.

It also very effective at killing Dust Mite, After you put on the light for 10 minutes, when you return to the room, you will smell like popcorn, and it is because the Light cooked the Dust Mite smell to me it's the smell of victory!!! worth every penny

Answer:	As someone who has had an electrical house fire I would not recommend it. No it does not get hot but has a failsafe to shut off if tipped over. You could put it on a table around the bed and move it around the perimeter and achieve a similar effect. I would contact the company with further safety concerns.

Answer:	This lamp DOES NOT GENERATE OZONE. Although the frequency is 254nm, there is no real ozone generation in an open room from this 55w lamp. There are other systems that may have a UV-C lamp and an Ozone generator built into the same box. This is not one of them. There are basically two methods of producing ozone...ultra-violet and corona discharge. Corona discharge is the most common and creates ozone by applying high voltage to a metallic grid sandwiched between two dielectrics. The high voltage jumps through the dielectric to a grounded screen and in the process, creates ozone from oxygen present in the chamber. Kind of like how lightning creates ozone. Ultra-violet (UV) light can create ozone when a wavelength at 254 nm (nanometers) hits an oxygen atom. That's how the Sun creates the Ozone layer in the atmosphere. The molecule (O2) splits into two atoms (O), when combined with another oxygen molecule (O2) it forms ozone (O3). Typically this is done in a camber to get them to combine and the gas is then pumped out of the chamber and the process repeats. Ozone has a half life of 30 minutes as it reverts back to O2, or even less as it reacts to dust, plants, contaminates, and even temperature. Eventually given enough time it all reverts back. You can use an Ozone generator and be in the same room, the recommended level by OSHA is 0.10 parts per million. You will find ozone generators being used to cut down on smoke in casinos and back when you could smoke in taverns. There are no documented long term effects from ozone exposure. If you want to measure output or residual ozone, search for a Draeger tube or an Ozone Monitor/Sensor. I recommend using UV-C lamps and an Ozone generator together if your really want to make sure. I use this unit for bathrooms and made my own large UV-C lamps for other rooms, along with my own Ozone generators that fill the entire house. Ozone gets into the smallest cracks if you have can generate enough. Yes, you should vent after the Ozone generators run with that much concentration. My vacation cabin has several 10g/hr ozone generators running 4 times a day for 30 min each when I'm not there. It takes about 3 hours to remove all the residual ozone out of the bedding, clothes, walls... They are all on remote controls, so I stop the process the day before I show up.

Answer:	Some may claim a single 25w bulb handles 400 sqft, but most professional units in a hospital start out with at least two 150w bulbs that they move around the room for a total of about 1 hour. A 15-watt lamp will cover approximately 100 square feet; a 30-watt lamp will cover approximately 200 square feet. To kill black mold from 8ft away you would need to run a 50w lamp for 1 hour. How long you run it will be based on the contaminate or concentration of contaminate you have and the distance from it. Remember, it does not work on surfaces that the light cannot directly hit (shadows). So either move the unit around or use several lamps. 8hrs or more may be required. Based on all that, I run my lamp for at least 1 hour per area to insure at least 40,000 J/cm2 to kill most spore forming bacteria. I also move the units about to reduced areas where the light does not touch. It all depends on what you want to kill, distance, and wattage. A while back I found a chart that says 8hrs for an 800 sqft room with a 100w bulb. High intensities for a short period and low intensities for a long period are fundamentally equal in lethal action. The inverse square law applies to germicidal ultraviolet as it does to light: the killing power decreases as the distance from the lamps increases. The average bacterium will be killed in ten seconds at a distance of six inches from the lamp. Keep in mind that as the bulbs are used, they lose intensity over time; therefore you must run them longer. As with anything, read the warning labels. These not only kill bacteria and molds, it will kill your plants and cause you and your pets physical harm. As far as insects like mites, it may have an effect, but it won't kill them. Other side effects are fading of furniture, 10% reduction in plastics, just like leaving things out exposed to the sun. You will notice a burning smell after operation, unlike an ozone generator that has a medical or electrical smell. You can also add an ozone generator to get in those areas that the light can't reach. For that I made my own units that pump out 10g/hr. Keep in mind, unlike the UV-C lights that don't leave anything behind, you need to purge the Ozone levels from the area before returning to normal usage of the area.

Yes, it is supposed to I get hot quickly, but it’s such a high output it warrants being used outside or at least used with a fan/in an open ventilated space. You could return it and get a lower output one if the heat is an issue

Answer:	Haven’t bought this unit, but this is a very valid question that I had too. It’s not scientifically possible for the bulb to produce any (or enough) O3 concentration in the 254 nm wavelength. There are similar units that advertise bulbs emitting in the 185 nm wavelength if you’re looking for an ozone producing bulb. This is very likely (simply) an expensive UV-C unit that does a good job of breaking down DNA and organic matter (hence the smell reported by users). The seller needs to clarify this for sure.
