Answer:	The instructions that come with the unit duplicate what I have read from several Fire Department sources: you can place your unit on the ceiling, but AT LEAST 4 inches (10cm) from the wall. If you want to mount it on the wall, mount it MORE THAN 4 inches (10cm) BELOW the ceiling, but NO LOWER than12 inches (30cm) below the ceiling. It has to be high enough up the wall to "smell" the smoke, but that 4 x 4 inch (10cm x 10cm) area where the wall meets the ceiling can sometimes harbor a "dead zone" of still air where the smoke would NOT reach the detector quickly enough during a fire to warn you in time. Thus, do NOT mount your detectors too close to where the wall meets the ceiling.

Answer:	Hello. While the alarms are going off, the alarm setting off all of the others, the red LED light and then the green LED light will blink, every second. The other alarms will just have the red. If they stop on their own, the alarm that set off all of the others will have a red and amber LED light flashing one second each every 10 seconds. If you are getting nuisance alarms, we would recommend going ahead and blowing out all of the alarms around the back side edges very thoroughly with a can of compressed air like a can of keyboard cleaner. Answer:	Hello. Yes, but not the way you mean. When the alarms go off, there is always one alarm going off and setting off all of the others. This alarm will have a green light flashing every second as well as the red light. You have to identify that alarm and either put it in HUSH mode or unplug it and take it down to stop the others. This is intentional so that if you are not leaving the house then you are identifying and investigating where the smoke situation is and if there is danger. The HUSH mode will make the alarm require more smoke to go off and for a small amount of smoke will stop it for about 8 minutes If there is too much smoke, the HUSH mode will not stop the alarm for going off.

However, the Kidde in the garage is set off when I start a lawnmower or snowblower in the garage, so if oil burner puts out a puff of smoke when it starts, that may give you an alarm.

The Kidde Front-Loading Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm (part 21007624) offers protection from two hazards – fire and CO – in one unit. This AC-wire with battery backup alarm emits a beeping tone followed by a voice warning that clearly announces the danger by saying, “Fire, Fire” or “Warning, Carbon Monoxide. ” The uniquely designed front loading battery compartment makes battery replacement quick and easy, and ensures proper installation. Manufactured with photoelectric sensors for detecting smoke and fire, this alarm also includes the world’s most accurate CO sensing technology based on claims by major manufacturers. Architectural and Engineering Specifications - The combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm shall be Kidde Unit Number KN-COPE-I (part number 900-0213) or approved equal. It shall be powered by 120VAC, 60Hz source with a 9V battery backup. The temperature operating range shall be between 40°F and 100°F (4°C and 38°C) and the humidity operating range shall be 5% - 85% relative humidity. The unit shall incorporate a photoelectric smoke sensor with nominal sensitivity of 2.05%/ft. The CO sensor shall be of a fuel cell design and shall meet the sensitivity requirements of Underwriters Laboratories UL2034 Single and Multiple Station Carbon Monoxide Detectors. The unit shall qualify for UL-approved wording on the package: “World’s Most Accurate Carbon Monoxide Alarm”. The combination alarm can be installed on the surface of any wall or ceiling following the UL/NFPA/Manufacturer’s recommended placement guidelines. The alarm can be installed on any standard single gang electrical box, up to a 4”octagon junction box. The electrical connection (to the alarm) shall be made with a plug-in connector. The unit shall provide optional tamper resistance that deters removal of the unit from the wall or ceiling. No additional pieces shall be required to activate this feature. A maximum of 24 Kidde devices can be interconnected in a multiple station arrangement. The interconnect system must not exceed the NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) limit of 18 initiating devices, of which 12 can be smoke alarms. With 18 initiating devices (smoke, heat, CO, etc.), interconnected, it is still possible to interconnect 6 strobe lights and or relay modules. The alarm shall include a test button that will electronically simulate the presence of smoke and CO and cause the unit to go into both modes of alarm. This sequence tests the unit’s electronics to ensure proper operation. The CO sensor will not alarm to levels of CO below 30 ppm and will alarm in the following time range when exposed to the corresponding levels of CO. 70 ppm CO Concentration 60 – 240 minutes 150 ppm CO Concentration 10 – 50 minutes 400 ppm CO Concentration 4 – 15 minutes The combination alarm shall have two methods of warning for danger: a piezoelectric horn that is rated at 85 decibels at 10 feet and a voice warning that identifies the danger. For a CO incident, the horn will sound in the repetitive manner – four fast beeps, a short pause, four fast beeps, a short pause. In between, the unit will announce “Warning Carbon Monoxide ” In a Smoke incident, the horn will sound in the repetitive manner – three beeps, a pause, three beeps, a pause. In between, the unit will announce “Fire! Fire! ” The unit shall incorporate 2 LED’s. A green LED will be steady on when AC power is present, flash every 30 seconds when in the battery only mode, every 16 seconds to indicate alarm memory, and every 2 seconds to indicate the Hush“ mode is active. A red LED will flash in unison with the sounder pattern. The unit shall include the Smart Hush feature that silences the unit for approximately 8 minutes if a nuisance alarm condition occurs. The Green LED on the alarm will flash every 2 seconds while in Smart Hush and will automatically reset itself. It also provides voice annunciation of “Hush Activated” when Smart Hush is activated and “Hush Cancelled” when the Hush cycle ends. Question:	Does this filter fit in a Holmes HAP706-U air purifier
Answer:	Yes. I just replaced 2 very old (older than 10 years) BRK Electronics Model 4120B smoke detectors with these newer First Alert/BRK Brand Model 9120B units. My older units were yellowed with age, so I also replaced the plastic base. I did reuse the 3 pin electrical connector, as the "old" electrical connector matches the new unit. The new smoke detectors are functioning/self-testing normally.
Question:	Does this filter work with the HAP726 model
Answer:	Most manufacturers and agencies will tell you that a wall mount is ok, but the detectors should be mounted within one foot of the ceiling since smoke and hot air rise, so the higher up the detector is, the sooner it goes off. All detectors.

However, if you have hardwired interconnected Kidde smoke alarms, you can replace one of the hardwired alarms with the hardwired wireless alarm RF-SM-ACDC, Part # - 1279-9999. You can then extend the circuit with this model alarm here which is the RF-SM-DC, part number 0919-9999. The hardwired wireless will act as a bridge between the hardwired alarms and the wireless battery-only alarms.

Answer:	Thomas it is required (International Fire Code and Electrical Code) that all detectors go off to alert all occupants. The manufactures recommend frequent dusting with a vacuum to prevent dust or spiders from causing false alarms. A 3rd wired is required in the electrical box to interconnect the detectors (Black is commonly Power, White is Neutral and Red is the Interconnect wire with bare being the ground which is not connected to the smoke alarm). The smoke alarm pigtail connector wires are black, white and orange (black to black, white to white and orange to red). Chirping is a low battery or loss of electrical power indication only. Sustained repeated loud blasts are an alarm event on the 4th blast it triggers the other detectors in the residence that are interconnected (hold the test button until the 4th blast to test the interconnection function). Question:	Can the light be turned off
Answer:	The unit that initiated the alarm will display a red light instead of green (while the others remain green). The same is true for the low battery latch - the unit with the low battery will flash green instead of having a steady green light. We had one unit (of 9) that kept false alarming when first installed, but we had just completed a renovation so may have been due to dust. It was nice to easily identify which unit initiated the alarm. No problems since replacing that one unit.
