Answer:	In all honesty, in my experience, 0 minutes. My unit may've been defective but it literally only blew out room temperature air.

Answer:	Yes, the bin doesn't come all the way out. There's a drainage plug near the back. I haven't done it yet, but I assume you let as much water as possible drain out and then wipe the bin.
Question:	Would this unit work in a small, windowless room in NYC
Answer:	No, it won't likely work. This is a swamp cooler, and it needs open windows to work efficiently. In a windowless room the unit will just build humidity rather than cooling. Also, the humidity in New York is likely too high for it to function, since they do not cool when humidity is higher than 40%.

Answer:	There is some really bad answers on this question and several of the other questions which suggest a basic lack of physics knowledge. First a couple of definitions. 1 calorie = the amount of energy to raise the temperature of one gram of water one degree celcius. So to bring 1000 grams of water (roughly a quart) from freezing (0 degrees celcius) to the point of vaporization is 1000 grams x 100 degrees = 100,000 calories. (Note: the Calories you measure in food are actually kilocalories so this amount of energy is equivalent to 10,000 calories of food.) The second definition is called the latent heat of vaporization. This is the energy required to turn one gram of water into one gram of vapor. When our sweat evaporates, it carries The latent heat of vaporization for water is 540 calories. So to evaporate that same 1000 grams of water (about 1 quart) it takes 540 x 1000 = 540,000 calories. This is the cooling effect that we get from sweating. When our sweat evaporates it carries away 540 calories of heat energy from our body. The same thing happens when you evaporate a quart of water with an evaporative cooler by passing air through the sponge. The air becomes wetter and cooler. This is a real cooling effect that works but is not as powerful as an air conditioner. Air conditioners are usually rated in thousands of BTUs/hr and a typical window unit is capable of about 6000. 1 BTU is about 250 calories so for for an evaporative cooler to have a cooling effect of 6000 BTUs it would need to evaporate 2343 grams or more than 1/2 gallon of water per hour. That is going to saturate the air pretty fast and the cooler is going to lose effectiveness unless there is a constant source of dry air. So yes, an evaporative cooler does actually cool the ambient temperature of a room and the people who are saying otherwise don't understand physics. Whether it can cool a 500 square foot room depends on numerous variables. If the humidity is high then the evaporative cooling will be low and the unit will not be effective. A constant source of dry air is a big help. But if the dry air is from outside it might also be a constant source of heat so it might be counter productive. If you could pull dry cool air from your crawlspace it would help. If the room is poorly insulated it will make a big difference. Probably, the reason the room is hot is because it is poorly insulated. Chances are this means the cooler will only be marginally effective because heat is radiating into the room through the walls and windows faster than the cooler can cool it down. These coolers really work but they are not as effective as air conditioners which makes sense because they use a LOT less energy.
Question:	will this work as a fan without water? weather is usually dry but occasionally humid
Answer:	I would imagine it would , since there is the "humidity/cool" button. In our case , our a/c freezes up, when our outside temp goes over 93 degrees. We turn the reg a/c off, fill up the SPT evap roll around cooler, and use that. It has to be the best "just over $110" investment we've ever bought. We live in Arizona, it's not that humid. Bought it 2 years ago to cool the garage, which faces west. Maybe you should contact the cooler company, for the "without water".
Question:	I bought this in June it is now leaking in the back. what can I use to seal and repair the leak
Answer:	I would contact Amazon and ask to return the unit. It should not be leaking and you should not be responsible for the repair. One question though: Did you overfill it? You have to be so careful to keep the water below the line on the tank level.

Answer:	Ours was already on there and you just screw the hose into it. You have to pull the end of the hose to stretch it out a little so it can screw into the hose holder. 8. The air volume is not enough to feel the wind.

Question:	Does anybody get a loud rattling noise in the grill? The units vibrations are transferred to the front and its very loud rattling
Answer:	I've got my LG 8013er mounted on a piece of split rubber fuel line to isolate the bottom of the AC from the aluminum window sill. Still working great after 20,000 hours although I replaced the fan motor bearings after 3 years. The metal cabinets on window AC units are held on with just sheet screws and on these LG models the plastic tabs fit in little rectangular holes in the sheet metal tab. You can take an adjustable wrench closed down to the width of the sheet metal and raise that metal tab near the hole bending the sheet metal up a 16th of an inch or so. The plastic front fits much tighter then. The other place that sometimes rattles is the air direction vane mounting assembly. The LG models don't usually rattle there, but wedging something at one end or the other of the outflow vent where it pivots will stop that. The newer LG8017 has a screwed in front and a wired display that makes it a little more difficult to access and clean the front coils. This was probably a response to the complaints about rattles which doesn't require bending those sheet metal mounting tabs..

Answer:	Most likely, probably not the 8018 model because it’s a 75lb which is excessive for an 8,000 btu. Perhaps Friedrich. Since moisture is your concern, I’d suggest the LG, Friedrich, or new GE profile as they all have drain holes. The issue for me is usually how much light is let in, LG and Kenmore elite made by LG usually are good here, GE lights up a room through the vents (at least the ones at Walmart and Home Depot). Then use pan tabs. Or get a slide out with a drain hole. My Frigidaire made Kenmore (non elite) molded before the LG or Kenmore elite LGs we have, 1 season is all. No drain hole, always left the fan on, so seems an issue with humidity and lack of a drain plug. Because no light really came in the vents, decent build, I accepted no drain hole but don’t suggest it! Also if you Lysol regularly, it prevents mold on mold free surfaces. Go from the beginning. Avoid black louvers, it’ll hide an issue.

Question:	The sleeve looks solid, they only have the one picture. How does the water drain
Answer:	It drains out the back. You do NOT put the back cover on for normal use and when installing. The sleeve comes with a front and back cover, which are to be installed "in the winter" or when the A/C is not in use for extended periods of time. Why they included a front cover I can't imagine, but I guess it might provide some minimal protection from wind and rain coming through the unit if you live in a super-hard climate. I would go with a third-party vinyl cover for the outside of the unit in such an environment. It should be noted that this unit does NOT include a grill for the back. The instructions say to "use the one that came with your a/c unit, so be sure your a/c unit came with one before you start the install. That is an important piece for reducing the amount of debris that will come into your unit otherwise! My LG a/c came with a flimsy piece of plastic for a grill, or you can purchase an optional, thin aluminum grill for $30. Too bad they didn't include a nice, sturdy louvered grill with this unit instead of that pointless "front cover".

Answer:	The plug is a NEMA 6-15 straight blade type. You'll need a 6-15 type outlet, commonly referred to as a 230V outlet for this A/C. The seller should list this in the product description.

Answer:	Yes when set in economy mode.

Answer:	Not my experience with this. Manuals have only a number for 3rd party manufacturer. There is an outer frame that comes with the unit but it is meant to be used with the sleeve that can be bought from Keystone. Customer service connected with this specific item sucks!

Answer:	Yes, it does a great job of cooling and a decent job of heating a room in our home. I would call it supplemental heat-if it isn't going to be super cold (-30), it should be fine!
Question:	Just purchased and am trying tk heat about 350 sq ft. it will not blow heat. its "warm" air. but we have it set to 75 and it feels ice cold... why
Answer:	I have it in my bedroom which is about 250 square feet. The air does feel cold but I have the put the thermostat at around 82 to start warming. After a couple of hours it gets too warm and then I lower it. I just use it to heat my bedroom when I need. I will usually go turn it on about a hour before bedtime.
