Answer:	You need the holes to put your hands through so you can lift and lower the desk. They prob designed it this way because putting the levers all the way on the outside of the desk would be too big a wing span for most folks and to make it work for everyone then they would have had to cut down on the width of the desk, which is why most people are probably looking at purchasing this desk. Personal opinion, spend the extra cash and get an automatic one...this one makes me feel like I my throw out my back just having to giggle it to get the hydrolics to kick in to raise and lower it.

Answer:	The pool is big enough for a 90 lb dog. Our dogs are 90 and 100 lbs respectively. I could probably get both of them in at once, but I only do one at a time. Of course the water is only about 10 inches or so high, but it has worked very well.
