It has been some time since I wrote the review below and hopefully they've changed the paper, but if not beware if you're planning use a fountain pen, watercolor, etc. It may be okay for gel pens, ballpoint etc. Here's the original review below. I should add that I called Cambridge to complain; they were responsive, refunded my money, and seemed concerned, so they may have fixed the problem. Usually thier notebooks are better. It may be okay for people using gel pens or pencils, but if you use a fountain pen or a thin marker like a black Sharpie that's a bit "juicy" stay away. With a regular ballpoint, while the ink is not visible through the leaf, there is heavy embossing of the thin paper, creating an annoying surface to write on on the backside. I was surprised at the paper choice in these notebooks. Usually Cambridge does much better/ But this particular product is dreadful. I literally can't even read what I wrote the ink staining from the opposite side of the leaf is so bad.
