Answer:	Barry, on top of my desk, I have Computer screen, speakers, a light and a portable telephone. I have had to put heavy work on it before while e-mailing and never did it wiggle or act like it could not hold it all. So I really think it would be fine. I have had mine a year now, lots of compliments on it when friends come in and would not but anything else. This desk holds my fax/copier and modem on bottom shelf too. It is just the right size and very neat looking. I hope this helps Sir.
Question:	How are you supposed to sit in front of the desk when it has bottom shelf? Where would your feet go? Can you assemble the desk without the bottm shelf
Answer:	I put the shelf on and just sit in front of it. It's reasonably sturdy though, so maybe it will be okay without the bottom. I just put my feet on the bottom shelf. :)

Answer:	21 7/8". This is the actual open space. If you left off the bottom shelf you would have a bit over 25",
