Answer:	The recline mechanism is very stiff. My wife ant even sit in the chair in anything but the most upright position because she isn't strong enough to hold the chair back in a reclined position. I'm 300lb and it takes more than just my body weight keep the back reclined. And this is with the tension knob all the way loose. It does have a stop like most office chairs that let's you prevent reclining. It's a comfortable chair, and the adjustable armrests are a useful feature that's hard to find, especially in a chair so inexpensive. But the chair is designed to keep you upright, not so much for reclining.

Question:	Does this recline back, or only tilt? I was confused because the description says 3 position locking
Answer:	I couldn't find that information, however I can tell you that we bought two of these chairs and the "crossbar" under the seat of one of them (the blue one) broke after just a couple of months. The manufacturer promptly refunded the entire purchase price, no questions asked, no hoops to jump through; we are completely happy with them. The other chair (the orange one) is fine and my husband has been sitting on it every night since his chair became un-useable (the blue one). We have yet to purchase a replacement for the blue chair, but I will have no qualms about buying a chair from the same manufacturer. Relative to your apecific question, my husband weighs about 240 and, like I said, either he or I have been using the orange chair (mine!) since we bought the chairs in May 2017.
