The paper costs more because it is thermal so it is not like you don't have to worry about the cost. |

It took me a little longer than the instructions said it would, but I was contending with a dog who wouldn't leave me alone, and a surprise guest, a bat that was nesting in the drop ceiling, which is why the dog wouldn't leave me alone. Had I been able to focus, I'd have taken a half hour less than the suggested timetable, easy, or even less. The parts all fit together easily, parts are clearly labelled and separated, the only thing you'll have to really give any effort or thought into is nailing the backer on to it, but that was easy enough to do that I hammered those little nails in with the side of a socket wrench. On a scale of "Lego Set" to "Full Size Gazebo," I'd say this assembly ranks a "casual afternoon jigsaw puzzle." You'll be able to handle it, no problem. |

Eventually (maybe after a couple years) our door started to readjust itself unevenly so we took it off the door. I definately feel that shoes would be too heavy unless they are flip flops or slippers. The pockets are strong, however it's the top part that eventually tears through and the metal brackets keep falling off. I tried duct tape for a while and then gave up. Right now mine is hanging empty on a different door. If I find something that's lightweight, I will most likely use it for sorting. |

A quick google search estimates that the average hardcover book weighs a little under two pounds - and the average physics textbook weighs just under five pounds. That means that it claims to support, roughly, five to twelve books per shelf (obviously depending on the type and weight of the books, but I'm guessing your textbooks will be on the heavier side). The shelves are 26 inches long, though, so there will likely be room for at least a dozen or two dozen books on each shelf - even though that's likely far more weight than each shelf can actually support. Tldr: No, I wouldn't recommend this for your hardcover college textbooks. |
