Answer:	The shelf is 6 and 1/8 inches from the wall to the outer edge. I have anchored it with cork screw type wall anchors that you can get at Ace Hardware or Home depot. I used the half inch round ones.They self screw into sheet rock and are very sturdy. Yes, anchored that way the shelf is very strong. I'm very pleased. good luck.....

Answer:	It's not something that occurred to me when I purchased mine, and really I have no reliable evidence from which to speak. Here are some things you might consider: 1) as far as mounting to the wall goes, it's possible. It would mean, however, drilling through whatever surface your shower has and finding solid material into which to screw the fittings. It's always something of a risk to create any opening to the subsurface in a shower/bath environment. 2) The glass shelf is held in place by clamps that fit onto the wall mountings and that are adjustable to clamp the shelf in place. The clamp surfaces are a rubber-like material that buffers between the metal of the clamp and the glass. How tightly one can adjust these clamps to hold the glass?? It needs to be enough, of course, to prevent any slipping. What is the effect of water on the surfaces between the clamps and the glass? particularly if there is soap or shampoo involved? This part is I think really risky. You really do not want to have this shelf slip out of its fittings and crash at your feet in the shower. I wouldn't risk it.

Answer:	It does NOT include the reachout dead lock. The "internal lock mechanism" shown in the photos is the tailpiece that goes into the reachout lock, which I'm guessing is what you need to replace.
