Answer: No, especially for true trundle, it wouldn't fit under the bed if you added a box spring. You could but a box spring on the top full part of the bed but my daughter just has a mattress on it now and you can't feel any difference. It mainly is about preference for whoever is sleeping on it. If you do go with a box spring I would suggest one that is coupled with the mattress into one piece.

Answer: The king size is listed at 450 lbs. Which is insanely low when you figure a king mattress is at least 100 lbs on its own. The average adult human is 150 lbs and it's normal for 2 people to sleep on a king size bed. Hope you're using just sheets, don't own any pets or ever want anyone else to sit on the bed. The whole thing fell apart in no time at all with just normal use, it's super flimsy.
