You should prob look into a memory foam to place on top of your mattress or if your mattress is older than 8-10 years look into replacing it with the pillow tops that are on the market now.

Answer:	Definitely- I don’t experience any extra heat with this cotton top!!
Question:	Are the pillows envelope style? Or is the hem stitched the same all the way around. I don't like the fold over style
Answer:	I'm not sure what you mean by only about 2 inches room? I have an 8 inch thick memory foam mattress and it fits great. The stretchy part that goes underneath the mattress is generous in size and stays put. I would imagine it would work with a blow up air bed very well because of that.

Answer:	The thickness is approx. 1/2-1 inch thick. I have a thick pillow top mattress. I just want to take care of my mattress with a cover and should something fall on my sheets, the extra pad is a barrier. I spent a lot of money on an all enclosed mattress pad for allergens on my son's new mattress and medicine went through the sheets, mattress pad and soiled a spot on the new mattress. I really hope this helps. Also, this mattress pad isn't shifting and needing to be tucked in constantly.

The reason our comforter inserts are larger than our duvet covers is because once you put the comforter insert inside of the duvet cover, you want it to be a little larger in size so it makes the entire duvet cover nice and full and plush and fluffy. If the insert was the same size as the duvet cover, it would be flat and no one wants to sleep under a flat duvet cover - you want it to be nice and fluffy, full and plush :)But if you want to find the same size dimensions of our duvet cover for a comforter insert, you can look at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Target, Macy's, or any other bedding store.
