| Answer: | The base of the heater will keep the flame about 12 inches away. The flame is enclosed in a sturdy glass tube so no open flame is accessible anywhere except in the tube. You can hold your hand comfortably 12 inches or so (size of the base) away from the tube. This generates heat externally, but not enough to cause a fire concern. There is a reflector assembly on the top, about 8 feet up. I'd recommend not letting anything get under that. If you stay away from the house by the distance of the base, that should be safe. |
