Answer:	Hi Kenny I have replaced two original total line thermostats (both +10 yrs old) with these venstars. They are exact replacements with the same pin configuration. Pop off the old one and snap the new one in. You can use the same plate that is attached to the wall if no problems with it and your wiring. If you decide to replace the plate flip the breaker to your unit, unscrew the wires and reattach them to the same locations on the new plate. The screw holes on the plates also matched. Very simple. I had an AC tech tell me they charge $275 to remove the old and replace with a new one.
