Answer:	Consult your local engineer. But... 40W is power consumption. 60W x 2 is output at 4ohms. The unit is an efficient "amplifier." I have one in one of my studios and it performs well. I would not drive it into clipping which, with any amp, can make a mess of your speakers, if not your ears.
