Answer:	My model is 23 1/2 inches across from the outer edges of the vertical rails. There are small trim pieces on the four mounting "feet" such that 24 inches in width is required on the wall. Answer:	Believe it is electric heat element only. Heats a towel in ten minutes but you should weave it for a closer fit to the heat source. I added a programmable timer so it runs a heat cye a second time to help dry the towels. I set the first program to start when I normally wake so I can get coffee and then shower and the towel is ready. We put two towels side by side and it works well.

Answer:	The optimum way is the make sure the towel has the maximum contact points with the heated bars of the heater. If you hang the towel on the top, it would eventually warm it up due the heat rising and getting trapped under the towel but you can also weave the towel around the heated tubes to increase the contact between the towel and the heated elements.

Answer:	There is a switch - on the end of the vertical rails, however, I recommend adding a timer (digital is best) because: 1) It takes 15+ minutes to have any effect on towels, and 2) You don't want to run it all day & night. Use a regular dimmer usually meant for 250+ watt lights. I use the GE15313 see http://www.manualsdir.com/models/ge/15313-ge-7-day-in-wall-digital-timer.html but any 250 watt capable timer will do. The only trouble I had with the unit is: you have to be careful locating the four mounting spots because the towel rack's "legs" are rigid. If you're off by only a little 1/8", adjustment will be needed - which can get messy in drywall.
