Answer:	I guess you could since they are water tight. But they are metal & I'm not sure what the effervescent cleaner would do to the metal or your teeth.... some chemicals just do not mix... I would go with glass or plastic

Answer:	The knobs match the bottom trim. They look very nice that way. It gives it an elegant look. It's more of a deep copper tone. The rest of the canister is bronze.

Answer:	I don't know if it's safe for food. It's really nice and great for the bathroom to hold stuff. But I don't think the tops are secure enough for sugar or creamer. I would look for something else for food.

Answer:	They are plastic (so no rust), but they do discolor. Not certain if it's water drop exposure or just oxidation, but the finish does have what appear to be "tarnish" spots. If you are looking for a vintage look they would be ideal, but for pristine shiny containers, they will spot. We've had for six months in a bathroom setting, without direct sunlight exposure.
