Answer:	I think the silver bar will hold it in place . Assuming it is a standard sized magazine, it would be taller than the bar and wider than it, so there would be 3 edges/pieces supporting it

Answer:	The metal bar does not go all the way through. There are slits in the wood in front of where the book rests. They are so thin that I do not see how any book or tablet could pass through. They are about as wide as a ink pen. Its a very well designed book holder. I gave it as a gift and it was well received

Answer:	I have the kindle keyboard and it will hold it. Paperbacks pose a problem because they won't stay open but I use my kindle and hardback books without problems.
