So at the rate of 45mg/day, the 1200 drops/bottle would indeed last 26+ days or about a month; however the math at 5 drops/day would last 240 days or about 8 months. While some may use as little as 1 or 2 mg/day, at my actual use rate of 7drops/day a bottle has consistently lasted just under 6 months which fits with the math that works out to 171+ servings. On the Australian multivitamin tablets I have taken in the past, there is a warning on the bottle that says "This product contains Selenium which is toxic in high doses. A daily dose of 150 Micrograms for adults of selenium from dietary supplements should not be exceeded." Although I have only been taking one Basic Nutrient tablet per day, I will stop taking this formula once I have finished this bottle as I feel it contains too much Selenium. |

| Answer: | I don't know why they have to have such mega doses. I have been taking this for 2 months and I have only been having 1 tablet per day (half the recommended daily dosage) and although I feel good and have more energy I am really worried about the risks of taking this product long term so I will stop taking it once I finish this bottle. I wonder if it was the Selenium in it that caused your liver enzymes to get high? This product contains way too much selenium in my opinion. It is a shame because if they reduced some of the doses of the ingredients and removed the Chromium all together I would continue taking it. I really like Thorne Research, I think they make good products but this one is just too much. You really have to be careful when taking vitamins, too much of a good thing can possibly be harmful. |

According to my reference book (Prescriptions For Nutritional Healing), silicon dioxide is important in the prevention of Alzheimer's disease and osteoporosis. It stimulates the immune system and inhibits the aging process in tissues. So, elderly people need larger amounts. I have been using it for 4 years and have no side effects, if there are any. |
