| Answer: | This is so incredibly simple I'm surprised so many people can't figure it out. Resolved, as follows: I used a chain saw to cut an inch off the top of the plastic package, which worked perfectly. Then when I want to reclose the package I use one of the superglue tubes to put a thin line of glue around the edge of the top to reseal it. The glue works so well you'll need to use the chain saw whenever you want to open it again, so it's a good idea to keep one in your office. If you don't have a chain saw I recommend purchasing the Makita UC4051A 16" electric, which currently sells on Amazon for $235.99. I should tell you that I used a gas chain saw the first time but it sent unpleasant fumes throughout our floor and several colleagues knocked on my door wondering why there was a putrid odor emanating from beneath my door. So definitely get an electric chain saw if you don't want people bothering you. Good luck! |

Other glues that seem to bond anything to anything are the various GOOP glues and E6000, which I prefer because it isn't so thick. GOOP and E6000 are basically the same type of glue (synthetic rubber based) with the latter being a little easier to work with, especially for small components. Both are made by the same company. But I would try the Loctite glue -- it makes a really strong bond. Be sure to follow the instructions EXACTLY and make sure you put a substantial amount of the activator (contained in the pen component) onto both surfaces and wait 20 seconds to dry before applying the glue component to one of the surfaces and putting the parts together. Hold the two parts together for at least 30 seconds to set/cure. |

If your concern is whether the Bondic can adhere to metal and a sign made if a different material, my opinion is that it might work. All I can offer you is a "definite maybe". Think of it as a welding material. If you can run a bead of Bondic along the metal post such that it would join the two pieces, small thicknesses/layers at a time it should do the job. |

If you think there is a glue on the market that would withstand the tension applied to that application, I'm fearful that you would definitely shed some blood attempting to use a sophisticated shop tool. My advice is to just replace the blade and try to salvage at least one finger to punch 911 emergency. |
