| Answer: | Yes, it is gluten-free. Sorry for the horrible answers above. They obviously don't "even understand what gluten is." It's not just bread - it is used as a filler in many products including lipstick, chicken broth, toothpaste, etc. Also, just because there are no ingredients listed that contain gluten the product itself could gluten in it due to cross-contamination at the manufacturer. I have Celiac Disease and am very familiar with what gluten is and the effects it can have (including cancer in people with Celiac Disease - it's not just a recent diet fad). I don't believe it is certified as gluten-free, however I have used two of the flavors (not the Acei) and have had no effects from it. As of now you should feel safe using it. But, if you're asking about gluten I am sure you're aware that the ingredients, source of ingredients, or manufacturing process can always change without warning and introduce gluten into the product. Again, sorry about the terrible answers above from people who just don't get it. Good luck! |

My only warning is that it is packed with vitamins and minerals so if you feel nauseous its good to drink it with some food so it's not the only thing in your stomach. Whenever I use it for a hangover I feel substantially better 30 minutes after taking it. |

| Answer: | The electrolyte profile is a reflection of the median or low side of average that we see for the population - about 750-800 mg of sodium per liter. This is about twice as high as what you’d find in typical sports drinks, but potentially still on the lower side of normal for the population. Because sweat is mostly sodium and because sodium is the most important electrolyte to replace to help drive thirst and to maintain proper physiological performance, we have an electrolyte ratio that is high on sodium and much lower with respect to potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Despite the fact that potassium, calcium, and magnesium are lost in relatively small amounts compared to sodium, our drink contains a little more of those electrolytes than is typically lost in sweat. |

| Answer: | Thanks for asking! There is a lot of controversy about sugar in our diet. While, we don’t disagree that excess sugar or excess anything for that matter is bad for us, we do believe that the role that sugar plays in health and performance is about context. In the context of an active lifestyle and more specifically during prolonged or very intense exercise, sugar can be critical to helping to maintain one’s blood sugar, to keeping oneself fueled, and along with sodium can significantly improve the transport of water into the body. The bottom line is that consuming an excess of sugar isn’t good for you if you’re not active. But, if you’re working hard and sweating, a bit of sugar will improve your performance significantly. So if you're not sweating and working hard, don't use our Sport Hydration Drink Mix. But if you are sweating you need to put back both the water and the electrolytes you’re losing and can best do that with a drink that contains a little bit of sugar and plenty of sodium. Which is all to say, we encourage working athletes not to fear sugar during an effort, and also that the type of sugar is important too - we use REAL cane sugar. Sugar (or glucose) is ultimately the fuel that our body uses, and more specifically, the only source of fuel for our brain, nervous system, and red blood cells. There is of course a balance to all this, but if you're up off the couch and out on the trails it won't hurt to have a bit of carbs to keep you hydrated and fueled. Because Skratch Labs is a food product and not a supplement product, it has to abide by strict FDA regulations and to conform to their standards, they base the serving size off a 12-16 oz serving. With the new Sport Hydration drink mix you'll get 20 servings if measured out correctly using the scoop provided. The "old" Exercise hydration drink mix was based off a serving of 500 ml which is slightly more which is why you would get ~19 servings per bag for that given serving size. It's still the same great product from Skratch, but because of new regulations they had to alter the nutrition panels to meet FDA standards. Each magnesium ion is bound (chelated) to two glycinate molecules, the molar mass of the whole compound is about 172 g/mol, magnesium's molar mass is 24 g/mol, so the overall weight of magnesium constitutes about 14% of the compound magnesium glycinate. There are binders added to the pill to hold it all togetherand these add a small amount of weight, taking the overall percentage by mass of the magnesium down from 14% to something a bit lower, lkke the 10% you quoted. So there's your answer! |

| Answer: | The magnesium is 400 mg. from Magnesium Glycinate. The label says 'other ingredients': rice bran oil, gelatin, glycerin, beeswax, water, sunflower and calcium carbonate. Since I don't have a problem with either dairy or gluten I don't know if any of the 'other' ingredients might be a problem for you as I haven't had to investigate their source. I like this product because I like products that are liquid filled instead of chalky ingredients that can't be easily digested. Anything made with a liquid can be readily absorbed by the body as chalky products end up being moved thru the digestive system and excreted with only a portion of them being able to be utilized. |

| Answer: | From what I know, heat only breaks down protein. The molecular structure of the concentrated powder, becomes a solute in suspension when diluted in water. If you add it to unsweetened tea, I seriously doubt the suspension would significantly change. I would definitely NOT add sugar to it. Sugar would affect the way your body retains the fluid & electrolytes. |
