Answer:	The best distance can be vary from person to person, generally, the best magnifying result would be anywhere from 2" to 4.5" above the objects/small prints, the point is to see objects/small prints clearly, some people see clearly and feel most comfortable for their eyes with distance 2.5" while other may find 3.5" to 4".

ASSEMBLY AND OPERATION-

The Lightview is really simple to put together. It comes with only four pieces, and also includes a simple instruction diagram to show how the parts fit together. Any necessary tools are provided in the package.

The On/Off switch is conveniently located at the top of the gooseneck, near the lens. The lamp is plugin operated (5 foot long cord included!) and this lamp works only with 110v outlets but is safe to use in 220v outlets with a 220v-110v voltage converter. The lamp can be controlled using a wall switch, though it unfortunately is not currently compatible with Alexa.
