14 best medline crutches

Medline crutches are mobility aids designed to assist individuals with temporary or long-term mobility challenges, such as injuries to the legs, hips, or feet. These crutches fall under the category of medical supplies and equipment, specifically within the domain of mobility aids and daily living aids. Here's what you should know about Medline crutches:

  1. Purpose: Medline crutches are used to provide support and stability to individuals who have difficulty walking or bearing weight on one or both legs. They aid in maintaining balance and mobility while reducing the strain on injured or weakened limbs.

  2. Types: Medline offers a variety of crutch types to suit different needs and preferences. The two most common types are underarm crutches (axillary crutches) and forearm crutches (also known as elbow crutches or European crutches). The choice between these types depends on the individual's comfort and the nature of their injury.

  3. Construction: Medline crutches are typically constructed from lightweight yet durable materials such as aluminum or steel. This makes them sturdy enough to support the user's weight while remaining easy to handle.

  4. Height Adjustment: Many Medline crutches are adjustable in height, allowing users to customize the crutches to their specific measurements. Proper height adjustment is essential to ensure proper weight distribution and comfort during use.

  5. Grip: The handgrips of Medline crutches are often designed for ergonomic comfort. They may feature cushioned grips to reduce pressure on the hands and improve user comfort during extended use.

  6. Weight Capacity: Different models of Medline crutches may have varying weight capacity limits. It's important to choose crutches that can safely support the user's weight to prevent accidents or injuries.

  7. Accessories: Medline offers a range of accessories for crutches, including arm cushions, replacement tips, and storage bags. These accessories can enhance the comfort and functionality of the crutches.

  8. Proper Use: To use Medline crutches effectively and safely, individuals should receive instruction and guidance from a healthcare professional. Proper technique, weight-bearing restrictions, and gait training may be necessary, depending on the user's condition.

  9. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is important to ensure the safety and longevity of Medline crutches. This includes checking for loose screws or bolts, inspecting the rubber tips for wear, and cleaning the grips as needed.

  10. Temporary vs. Long-Term Use: Medline crutches are suitable for both temporary and long-term use.Temporary use may be due to injuries or surgeries, while long-term use may be necessary for individuals with chronic mobility issues.

Medline crutches play a vital role in aiding individuals with mobility challenges, allowing them to move about more comfortably and independently. When selecting crutches, it's crucial to consider the user's specific needs, the type of crutches that will provide the most support and comfort, and proper fitting and adjustment to ensure safety and effectiveness.

User questions & answers

Question: at 5'2" and 110 lbs, should I order the adult or child size? also, are the hand grips and cuffs black for all sizes
Answer: I ordered the adult size for a 18 year old who is 5:4 and 150 pounds. They are adjustable and light weight, not quite sure if grips are black on all crutches. I hope this helps.
Question: If I want to buy replacement tips for these crutches, what size do I need to buy? Also, will these tips fit: http://www.amazon.com/Hi-Trac-Industries
Answer: 7/8" fit perfectly. I just got mine.
Question: I ordered these forearm crutches for my mother, but when I received only 1 crutch inside instead the box. Isn't this supposed to be 2 crutches
Answer: I did the same thing. I was under the impression that it came with two and only received one. You have to put quantity 2 in order to get 2 of them.
Question: Does anyone have any suggestions for adjusting the size of the cuffs? I have thin arms and the cuffs are way too big
Answer: I use two zip ties (hooked end to end) to go around the "bent out" area at the end of one of the cuffs. I can easily slip my hands in and out, and when I lift the crutches, without holding on, they do not fall off my arms. And the plastic zip ties hey last forever. Hope this helps

User questions & answers

Question: I need crutch for a long terms. I weigh 289lb do you sell crutches that hold 300lb. does the arm and legs adjust I'm 6 ft tall.I want new crutches
Answer: My husband used these - he is 6'3" and was about 200 lbs at the time he needed them (recovering from spinal injury). I don't know what they are weighted for though
Question: can the forearm cuffs be adjusted at all, or do they sell pads to go in them
Answer: The firearm cuffs are not adjustable. They don't come with pads. I'm pretty sure that you can purchase pads for them.
Question: would these crutches work for a 5'6" person
Answer: The crutches I have would not work for that height but they can be ordered to accommodate a specific height.
Question: Hi the hand grip is it harc plastic
Answer: My grips were thick foam not plastic, they supported me well were durable. I am 6'4" was 310 poounds at the time. The forearm piece is a rubber like material. You need to adjust each side to fit. My right forearm is larger then my left i squeezed the left one to fit. Due to the way I was initially walking neede one side longer than the other. I used a permanent marker marker an R and L on the top end cap to keep from mixing them up. I did need to replace the bottom rubber pieces after two months not an issue they cost under $5 for the pair at the local pharmacy. I don't need them any more I have donated them to the local VFW they are still getting used by big guys and holding up well. A great buy!!

User questions & answers

Question: How wide is the cuff opening? Will it stay on a normal person's forearm when not holding it? Can you adjust it
Answer: I have not measured the cuff in question. I have several pairs of crutches with this type of cuff, they are all the same dimensions. and I have a very large forearm, I am 6'2" and weigh 260 lbs. I know of no forearm crutches that will stay on my are when I let go of them. What I do with the crutches in question is to buy an elastic pony tail hair band. I get on that is about 3/8th inches in thickness and long enough to fit tightly across the gap in the cuff. The cuff has a reverse bend near the opening and this is sufficient to hold the hair band in place. A little testing with the band size will show the correct size fo your crutch. The bands are very inexpensive whereever women's hair products are sold. With the bands in place the crutches hang nicely from my forarms whenever I wish to let them go and use my hand for some task. The pick up and use the crutches I simply insert my hand and arm into the banded cuff from the top. In the case of heavy sleeves or other obstructions simply peel off the band and insert the forearm into the side opening of the cuff and slip the band back in place on the cuff. On the negative side the cuff sleeves, which are made of spring steal and covered with a plastic film for protection and comfort. The plastic rips along the edges of the cuff and doesn't last very long. I also have experience a few occasions where the cuff springs snap. This is probably due to my larger than average forearms.
Question: Are the bottoms hollow or solid
Answer: The Tips are solid up against the shaft. I love these they are quiet sturdy and have lasted me a long time.
Question: What is the lowest and highest distance between the cuff and handle
Answer: Adult size (recently purchase from Amazon): from center of cuff, to center of handle ranges from 9.5" to 11.5". Youth size: the range is 8" to 10". Guardian crutches are my 15 year old Grandson's favorite, and most comfortable.
Question: how high do they adjust to from floor to handle in inches
Answer: The lowest is 29 inches. The highest setting is 35 inches. from floor to handle.

User questions & answers

Question: I am 5'2" so would the adult medium or the youth work better for me
Answer: Adult medium. Just dont extend the legs as much
Question: Is this price for 8 pairs of crutches as stated
Answer: No it is not. you just get 1 pair, 2 crutches. They are very good except I would like a softer rubber on the bottom of the crutch. it makes too much noise when using them. Eventually I would have to change this for less noise. otherwise it is a great buy.
Question: How wide is the handgrip? I'll need at least 4" (inside) to fit my existing handgrip pads
Answer: These are standard sized crutches that accept standard sized pads. I believe they should fit just fine.
Question: does this go up to 5'3 inches
Answer: They are for people approx 5'2" to 5'10". They stand 4'4" when fully extended.
