Question:	Why are they so loud when I first turn them on? I cannot wear them
Answer:	Volume is probably too high spin the top button downward at ( 0 ) they are off. The (1) is the next level up. However if your ears are anything like mine that loudness tells you just how bad of hearing loss you have. I swear I can hear certain folks all the way down my street. Even on the lowest setting I can hear my neighbors talking smack/ trash about me.

My answer as for watching TV is to try to get "CC"(CLOSED CAPTIONS) in ENGLISH and I try to set them up in Yellow with a Black Background for Better VISION... I am 81...

Answer:	I know description mentions this- instruction page that comes in box does not- not sure the 2 mode thing exists- you adjust the volume with a little screwdriver-ish thing and that's pretty much it

Answer:	We have the same problem. i think it is because they are $80 hearing aids and not $1500. If you push the button to reduce background noise three times, it usually helps reduce the whistling. Also make sure the volume is not higher than 2-3. The louder the volume is set, the more it whistles. Good luck!

Answer:	It amplifies ALL noise around you, it's not about distance. It's about how loud it was to begin with. My dad can hear us talking outside though a window 40-50' away as if we were in the room with him if that helps.

Answer:	I have shot. If you simply want straight hearing protection, just keep them turned off. They work because they're foam tips. If you want enhancement and hearing protection, like for hunting, they work well for rhat too but you can still hear a ton. I like them a lot.
Question:	Can a young kid use these
Answer:	The unit comes with 3 sizes of foam cushions for different size ear canals. I don't know if the smallest will fit a kids ear or be too uncomfortable. Sorry.

Answer:	I'm not sure what the question means. The item amplifies the noise source and, accordingly assists the hearing. It just makes all noise and speech (including ambient) louder, not more distinct. I never experienced any LOSS of hearing.
