13 best hearing aid batteries

Hearing aid batteries are essential components for the operation of hearing aids and are critical for individuals with hearing loss. These batteries are designed to provide power to the hearing aid devices, allowing users to hear more clearly. Here's what you need to know about hearing aid batteries:

  1. Battery Types: Hearing aid batteries are typically available in four common types, each denoted by a specific color code:

    • Size 10 (Yellow): Smallest and used in in-the-ear (ITE) and completely-in-the-canal (CIC) hearing aids.
    • Size 312 (Brown): Slightly larger and suitable for in-the-canal (ITC) and behind-the-ear (BTE) devices.
    • Size 13 (Orange): Larger batteries, commonly used for behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids.
    • Size 675 (Blue): The largest size, primarily used in high-power behind-the-ear (BTE) hearing aids.
  2. Battery Life: The lifespan of hearing aid batteries can vary depending on factors like the size of the battery, the hearing aid's power requirements, and usage patterns. On average, they can last anywhere from 3 to 20 days.

  3. Storage: To prolong the shelf life of hearing aid batteries, it's recommended to store them in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Avoid exposure to extreme heat or cold, as it can affect the battery's performance.

  4. Handling Precautions: When handling hearing aid batteries, it's crucial to keep them away from metal objects, coins, or other batteries, as they can short-circuit and become damaged. Always handle them with clean, dry hands.

  5. Replacement: Hearing aid users should pay attention to the battery life indicator provided by their devices. When the indicator shows low battery status, it's time to replace the battery. Some hearing aids will emit a beep or other alert to signal low battery life.

  6. Disposable vs. Rechargeable: While traditional hearing aid batteries are disposable, some hearing aids use rechargeable batteries. Rechargeable hearing aids are more environmentally friendly and can be more cost-effective in the long run.

  7. Charger Options: If you have rechargeable hearing aids, you'll need a compatible charger. These chargers vary in design, from simple charging docks to more advanced options that also provide dehumidification and drying for the hearing aids.

  8. Voltage and Safety: Hearing aid batteries typically have a lower voltage (1.4V) than standard batteries (1.5V). Using non-compatible batteries can damage your hearing aid, so it's essential to use the correct battery type and size.

  9. Proper Disposal: When it's time to replace a hearing aid battery, make sure to dispose of it properly. Some hearing aid batteries contain toxic materials and should not be thrown in the regular trash. Local regulations may require specific disposal methods.

  10. Battery Lifespan Indicator: Some hearing aids have built-in battery life indicators that can be monitored through a mobile app or on the hearing aid itself. This can help users keep track of battery health and know when to replace it.

Regularly checking and replacing hearing aid batteries is essential for ensuring that your hearing aids continue to work effectively, allowing you to maintain your quality of life and communication abilities.

User questions & answers

Question: Is it true that I can put them in The refrigerator to have them last longer
Answer: No, these are zinc air batteries and they should be stored in a dry cool place. Putting them in a refrigerator will actually ruin them. You should store them in a dry cool place like a bedside drawer in a room that is not humid or hot.
Question: v batteries
Answer: yes
Question: how long does each battery last on average
Answer: They last a full week in my hearing aids which I wear 15 hours a day. Same amount of time as much more expensive batteries.
Question: In the description it says to expose to air for 1 minute to activate. Is this really necessary
Answer: According to my audiologist, regulations now forbid the use of mercury in hearing aid batteries, so the modern ones run on different electro-chemical principles than batteries did formerly. If you look closely, you'll see tiny holes in the back of the battery that allow air to enter the battery once the tab is removed. This step, apparently, is necessary to give the battery a little head start in its operation. Again, my audiologist tells me that it's her experience that a 10-minute wait is preferable to a 2-3 minute wait in order to get maximum life out of a battery. My wife and I have been observing the 10-minute practice and find that the batteries last a little more than a week using them up to about 12 hours per day.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the expiration date
Answer: The expiration date is 2021. I seem to be getting 7 or sometimes 8 days per use. I know I will use them before the expiration date. They have performed better than other batteries I have purchased.
Question: what is the experire date
Answer: Date of Expiration on these Batteries?
Question: If the battery is "air activated" will it start deteriorating as soon as the tab is removed, even without being used
Answer: Yes. Absolutely they will start deteriorating as soon as the tab is removed. This is the way the batteries work; they use air as part of the chemical reaction. It's not a problem. Simply leave the tab on until you're ready to use them. Once the tab is removed, the batteries will self-discharge, even if not connected to anything, within a few weeks. I am speaking as a non-scientist who understands science and knows how to look stuff up! Check wikipedia for starters ("zinc air"). Quote from wikipedia: "Miniature cells have high self-discharge once opened to air; the cell's capacity is intended to be used within a few weeks." Note the flaw in the "scientist's" answer: he just assumed, pulling this information out of the "air" (pun intended), that the non-tabbed battery wouldn't discharge much if there were no completed circuit. This false assumption ignores the chemistry of the battery. Once exposed to oxygen, the battery will begin its oxygenation process whether it's connected or not. So unless you live in a vacuum, in which case you'd probably find breathing difficult, just don't pull off the tab until a couple minutes before you're ready to use the battery.
Question: Where are these batteries made
Answer: The Duracell 312 batteries that I use are made in Elwangen, Germany. They come in a plastic lidded packet of four or six.

User questions & answers

Question: What I want is to use them with the app on my smart phone to adjust my resound hearing aid. will these batteries work for that
Answer: I have ReSound hearing aids. I use the app on my phone as well as the ReSound remote - no issues whatsoever using these batteries.
Question: Ritabarkley do you know if these batteries are comparable to powerone p675 ? can anyone tell me what the p stands for in p
Answer: The P in the P675 labeled batteries in intended to indicate "extra" power and are meant for devices that have a higher drain, such as cochlear implants. These will work as will any 675 sized battery, the difference will be for how long the battery lasts you. If a P675 lasts you 3-4 days you can expect a regular 675 to last 2-3 days (just using an example, not being exact). THAT being said, I can say that I have used both the PowerOne brand regular 675 and P675 and there is negligible difference to justify the increased cost as both batteries would typically last me 3 days with my cochlear implant.
Question: How may single batteries do i get with the "amazonbasics hearing aid batteries a312, 60 pack" for 13,69 usd? is it 10 packs of 6 batteries
Answer: Yes it is 10 packs of 6 batteries in each pack or a total of 60 batteries.
Question: instructions say "step 1 remove battery tab. step 2 let battery sit for one minute." why the wait
Answer: When I got my hearing aids the Dr told me to let the batteries set for 5-10 min to activate them. I have put batteries in right away but there seems to be a little longer life to the battery if I let it set for a few minutes.

User questions & answers

Question: is there a difference between duracell #10 batteries and duracell #10 activair HEARING AID batteries
Answer: The same thing happened to me. It's free for prime members but isnt shipped by amazon. I think I received mine in about 5 days
Question: What is the difference between a #10, 4v. And a #10, 4.5v can they be used interchangeably? Will it damage my aids
Answer: This is a USA bundle
Question: Are the duracell activair hearing aid batteries mercury free
Answer: No, just the goggles, camera, and unit that connects them to the console. Also includes a Demo disk which lets you play a tiny bit of several different games. Will need to buy full versions of VR games if you really want to play. Also, importantly, this doesn't include the absolutely necessary hand controllers, which will run you about $90-100 extra. Best to buy the more expensive set that comes with an actual VR game and includes the hand controllers - you won't save any money buying this combo because you have to buy so much extra stuff anyway.
Question: How long do these usually last? Like a single battery
Answer: No

User questions & answers

Question: What is the expiration date if I ordered today
Answer: It turns off automatically as soon as it’s inactive. So nothing connected to it. There is no on and off switch it activates when you connect a device to it or the jumper cables.
Question: expiration date? What would be the expiration date if I order these today
Answer: The charge USB cable plugs into a wall adapter that is the same output as most cell phone chargers it has an output of 5 volts DC 3.4 amps max, mine is 110 volt input from the wall. I charge mine off the usb power outlet in my truck.
Question: Expiration date of what I would order today
Answer: (1) Wall outlet to USB/USBC adapter (1) USB to USBC cable (1) USBC to USBC cable (1) Cigarette lighter-style socket to 5.5mm barrel adapter (1) Very short jumper cable set (make sure battery is extremely accessible for easy use) (1) Power cell (1) User manual (1) Card that states they want to hear your voice without leaving contact info It all barely fits in the case, so putting away the large alligator clip cables with the large box-end plug is a chore. The finger cutout to remove the power cell is good for children's fingers, but not adults.
Question: Experation date
Answer: I would say at least once a month just to keep it topped off but could go longer depending on the weather and how hot and cold it gets.
